Burner's Burning Questions: Offseason Edition, Free Agency 2014

The Redskins have addressed needs but not necessarily what people consider their most pressing ones.

Safety has been on the table since the end of the 2007 season when Sean Taylor lost his life.

It has been that long.

Early word on Campbell is he's going to compete for a backup spot with Compton.

Redskins would upgrade at right tackle with this.

This free agency period is about who Bruce wanted in the 2010 draft:

Andre Roberts - Round 3
Shawn Lauvao - Round 3
Bruce Campbell - Round 4

Couldn't you say that about any team's free agency?

yes, Ryan Clark said on @espn that he is visiting the Redskins today... Loved covering him here. but 35 years old...

That would be such a typical Redskins move. Let a quality guy go young, bring him back old :)

I always liked Ryan Clark and wished we would have kept him. I don't know how viable he is now. We could use a quality vet back there as a stop gap for a year or two if the price is right and he's healthy, but I don't know if he meets those qualifications...

If he's healthy, I say we take him. Just for a year or two to groom what will undoubtedly be young guys (Rambo, Phillip Thomas, newby draft picks).....

I actually kind of like this pickup - if it happens.

Is that Denver issue still an issue for him?

Is Bruce Campbell the one who did like a thousand reps and ran a 4.7 or faster at the combine, and everyone thought Al Davis was gonna draft him in the first round?

he'll never be able to travel with us to Denver.

Since Denver just played the NFC East last season, maybe that's a reason he's looking over here.

Not that I think he'll sign here or that the FO will have real interest.

Yep, pretty much a physical freak.

4.85 40, 4th fastest for a lineman recorded at the combine at the time.
34 bench reps
32 inch vertical

If he could translate that onto the field he'd be great. Lets hope he can.

Bruce Campbell deal w/ Redskins expected to get done: one-year, $710,000 deal, $25,000 bonus, $1,562 per game roster bonus, $645,000 salary

Peanuts.

I like the Campbell signing... less then $1 mil a year for a guy who worst case scenario comes in and competes

Eh. He's a body.

Yes, Bruce was the workout warrior.

This is a project pickup as he has all the measureables but has never been able to get on the field.

by the way

Redskins announce Adam Hayward signing. BTW, they don’t announce signings until physical done/contract signed.
