Free Agency, The Mock Drafts, 2017 (Continual Updates)
Greetings from BBQ. Today we have the latest free agency update and there are several changes.
The offseason Lamborghini is maneuvering the road course of free agency, 2017. The combine came to a close last week and later this week we will have the first mock of March as we countdown to the draft. As free agency simmers down, the mocks will increase in frequency until the very moment we reach the first round.
We will look at our own free agents including those who are re-signed, released, and those who may not return. We will list candidates to be released and the cap savings/hit. We’ll provide updates as needed.
We will no longer list free agents from other teams, just team needs for the Redskins.
We take the latest chatter from Redskins Park and media pundits as BBQ tries to formulate what could happen in the coming days, weeks and months. Who will the Redskins target, re-sign and release? Feel free to offer your ideas on free agency and the draft.

Offseason Updates:
The Redskins have announced the offseason practice schedule:
Rookie Camp
May 12-14
OTAs
May 23-25
May 30-June 1
June 5-8
Veterans Mini Camp
June 13-15
The Redskins really have no need to overpay for another free agent defensive lineman. There are many quality prospects in the draft and that will be the case for many years to come.
The Redskins now have about $14.3M in salary cap room. Expect some cuts in the coming days and weeks. Obviously, a new contract for Kirk Cousins would likely add about $10M in cap space – if it happens.
With the hiring of Torrian Gray as the new DB coach (via Florida and Virginia Tech), look for a substantially huge improvement from the corners and safeties. Many of his former players are in the league and several are expected to be drafted (some highly) in 2017.
Here is the (currently) forecasted cap space for the Redskins in the coming years:
2018: $72.7M
2019: $107.7M
2020: $142M
Expect Morgan Moses to get a contract extension in the offseason.
Johnathan Hankins may or may not be on the radar at this time. Interest for him has dried up around the league – an indication that he is seeking too much money.
New DE/DT Stacy McGee is a good player and could see plenty of rotational time. Not a starter, but a solid player.
Personal Thoughts:
With the retirement of Kory Lichtensteiger, my likely to be released list has narrowed to DeAngelo Hall.
If the team releases DeAngelo Hall, BBQ wouldn’t mind seeing him in a front office role.
Hail To The Redskins!
