Definitely a possibility. Can't say I was all that enthused about this being our top targeted guy though. He'll be 29 in September, has eight years and injury history under his belt, and had a "breakout year" that consisted of 68 receptions for 1,002 yards and 5 TD's, on a team that threw the ball early and often all year playing from behind. Maybe he'd have been awesome here, but at least as of right now I'm not feeling like we've been jilted by a hottie. :)

Well, if he truly wanted a chance to win in the latter stages of his career, I'm not sure the Browns would have been his first choice. Personally I think he saw the reality of being 29 this year, having dealt with injuries, and took the highest bidder early to be sure he didn't end up chair-less when the music stopped playing. Pretty sure in his position I'd have been tempted to do the exact same thing.

What is beginning to worry me is will we do something stupid to try and save face with the fan base? I just see our current FO doing something, but not sure have confidence in what.

The injury history is a concern and that is what makes it a risky signing. But when the market is set, that may be a good price. It also could be that the Browns removed all injury clauses that other teams would add, making that 32.5 million a little safer for him. I know I'd want the Redskins to make sure they aren't stuck with a huge cap number for an injured player.

It comes down to value. What are you getting for what you pay. I said in the front office thread that I don't want the Redskins breaking the bank for Free Agents. But if you can find a good player for a good value, you sign them.

While I'm down knowing that we are likely going to be facing the reality of taking a few steps back the next few years, I can't hardly blame the F.O. for passing on Jackson, Garcon, and Britt based on the money they are receiving. Same goes for the likes of Chris Baker and Kirk Cousins, who in my honest opinion does not deserve top dollar simply because he's the best QB we've seen walk through the doors of Redskins Park in 25 odd years.

Throwing money around left and right was our downfall for the better part of this franchise's futility over the years. Those mistakes cost us dearly time and time again.

To add to that, throwing money around again without definitive assurances from the likes Cousins, Jackson, Garcon, Baker, etc., that they want to help build towards builder something bigger and better in D.C. is ludicrous. We'd be handing out money for the sake of being mediocre.
 
If Cousins can win with the talent surrounding him next season he will deserve being the highest paid QB.
 
A couple weeks ago most were talking about the positive progress we've made over the last several years. And now that there are rumors Bruce Allen was the real mastermind of it all, people are losing their frickin' minds.

Whether or not we would be able to keep #8 has always been in question. It still is, long term. Nothing changed there.
Almost everyone has been saying since the season ended that we would, and probably should, lose both Garcon and Jackson. Nothing new there.

So, for everyone that's been so positive since the season ended, what has really changed? If Allen's been calling the shots, who gives a damn if Scot is out?

And, as others have said, there is no concrete ANYTHING to get in a lather about yet. If it happens, we'll deal with the facts as they are.

I've said it before, social media and 24hr sports news does more to keep people in a state of dismay than anything being reported. Back in the day, we wouldn't hear squat. And wouldn't care as long as we win games.
