The raiders offered him supposedly a multi year deal worth around 5 million a year so to come here at the Chris baker defense either we promised him something for next year or I'm thinking that maybe now the skins might have their eyes on Shelton or another NT in the draft to groom him

DT's are not guys you want to throw long deals at, they are always guys who play better in contract years and play better with incentive based contracts. I think this was a great deal and if he plays well, we should sign him to another short solid deal.

what this deal does is gives us a solid nose who can also play 1 tech in a 4-3 front and Paea can play 3tech, its a huge difference in flexibility. I am really hoping we get cofield back at a lower price as he can bounce between the 1 and 3 and can play nose in some rush packages as well as end in the 3-4. Baker will be excellent in a rotation and when we want to run an elephant line. he can also play some end in the 3-4.

I think so far im somewhat impressed with mclovin, of course we will have to see if our new DC can scheme for these guys, but lets be honest, we have had such piss poor scheming for 5 years that anything will be an improvement. now if we can just keep on improving the talent at each spot, we could be on to something. I would love to see wilfork added at the right price and then a solid DE and a couple LB's and a CB and some safeties but what I really want to see are some Olinemen. I would love to see Jake long and evan mathis but only at the right price, Long has had 3 off years in a row, if he cant get healthy then its a no go. but we have to get some Olinemen in here to look at asap.

This was a great move and done at reasonable cost.

One year gives both sides flexibility.

At 28/29, with a good season you could see a 2-3 year extension.

He's making less than Cofield and is a more effective anchor inside.

He adds an element of toughness that has been lacking.

Culliver's the first new Redskin with a little ... baggage? Love the idea of a young, aggressive CB with some size. In the past I'd have looked at some of the history and been worried a bit about the character issues ... but I'm on board with McLuvin, and his stated belief that locker room and character considerations are every bit as important if not more than physical skills, so I'm going to assume we've done due diligence and found a comfort level.

But there is some risk with him, too. Culliver was only a full-time starter this past season and still missed two games with a minor injury to the same surgically repaired left knee. He has also faced serious legal issues. The San Jose Mercury News wrote an extensive article last summer after Culliver was accused in a civil suit of using racial slurs and threatening a teenager following his arrest on hit-and-run and weapons charges last March.

Culliver came to national prominence with anti-gay remarks made during Super Bowl week in 2013 when asked if his team would accept a gay teammate in the locker room. He later apologized.

Free Agency, The Mock Drafts, 2015 (Continual Updates)​

The 2015 football season is underway as teams continue to jettison players and obtain new ones via free agency. Late April will be here quickly and we have our third mock for you today as the draft is now taking center stage. The mocks will gradually increase in number as we get closer to the draft.

Without any further delays, let’s take a look at the latest developments and the third mock for 2015.

Mock Draft, 2015​

The Redskins watch as Marcus Mariota slides to the fifth overall selection. He is coveted by several teams and the Browns win a bidding war. Cleveland surrenders both of their first rounders, a third rounder, a fifth, and a 2016 second rounder.

Round One: Brandon Scherff, OT, Iowa
Scherff is arguably the best tackle on the board and slips to the Redskins at twelve. He is a beast in the running game and equally the same in the passing department. Playing in the powerful Big Ten, he more than held his own against quality competition.

Round One: Landon Collins, SS, Alabama
The last time a Redskins front office chose a safety in the first round from a SEC power, it was nothing short of a disaster. Collins comes with much better credentials and is very strong in run support. Collins is very coachable as he will need to improve on coverage skills.

Round Two: Arie Kouandjio, OG, Alabama
He is a strong run blocker who is ready to step into a starting role in the NFL. Kouandjio, seen as a likely prospect to replace Chris Chester, improved on his pass protection skills over the last two seasons. Very athletic at the point of attack and has a very successful history of man-handling the biggest and most talented of nose tackles.

Round Three:
The Redskins make their second trade of the draft as they move down in the third round and add an extra fourth rounder in the process.

Round 3: Garrett Grayson, QB, Colorado St.
Surprise! The new GM spots a quality QB for the taking and pulls the trigger on the Mountain West ace. Grayson is amazingly accurate with the long ball and has great arm strength. He has a high rate of consistency and places the ball exactly where his receivers can catch it. He is equally effective under center, in the pistol, and in the shotgun.

Round Three: Gerod Holliman, FS, Louisville
The Redskins select a talented ACC player who is able to fill a huge need. Holliman immediately upgrades the free safety position as Ryan Clark is now retired. The Louisville standout has ball hawking skills and should become an instant starter.

Round 4: Henry Anderson, DE, Stanford
Anderson is a big and strong DE from the PAC 12. He has a very high motor like that of his former teammate, Trent Murphy. Often gets his hands in a QB’s passing lanes and disrupts at the point of attack. He has batted down many balls. Very intelligent.

Round 4: Jacoby Glenn, CB, Central Florida
Glenn is a tallish corner who plays with an attitude that is similar to Bashaud Breeland. He is tough on receivers when in tight coverage and usually wins such battles. He tackles well and knows how to cover on deep routes. Doesn’t lack confidence and had a very solid 2014.

Round Five: Jarvis Harrison, G, Texas A&M
Aggie linemen have been nothing short of spectacular in recent years and Harrison is another in a long line of great tackles and guards from the SEC power. He is massive and some scouts considered him to be the most talented in a group of standouts on A&M’s line. He should move Shawn Lauvao to the bench.

Round Five: Taiwan Jones, ILB, Michigan St.
The Big Ten prospect has excellent size to go along with a solid game at the middle/inside linebacker position. He has a great burst to the ball, even after quickly shedding blocks. Jones is more of a running game specialist and has some weaknesses in the passing game – somewhat hidden when called upon to blitz – an area where he is very effective.

Round Six: Jake Smith, C, Louisville
After devoting many resources to fix the DL in free agency, the OL will receive a priority in the draft. It’s highly unlikely for Smith to push for a starting role this season, but he would have good tutors in Bill Callahan and Kory Lichtensteiger. He could be inserted into the lineup in the next year or two.

I just don't think it's about trusting Mr McCloo. No way in hell he can predict whether a guy is gonna be a repeat offender. I don't hold him responsible, at all. Unless he had to put up his house to get the guy out of the penitentiary on work release.

We have different takes, then. I think it's absolutely about trusting a GM to bring guys in he believes are solid enough character guys to fit into a functional, cohesive locker room. In our case, we have a GM who has spoken repeatedly about the importance of having the right guys in that locker room. Which goes back to my initial point--in the past, with the brain trusts we've had here for so long, a guy with Culliver's history would probably have made me uncomfortable. Today, given what I've seen and think I know to be McLuvin's requirements, I'm much more at peace with it. Rightly or wrongly.

Your other point, about "holding him responsible," is another conversation. But for the record, I won't hold him any more responsible for whether or not Culliver works out here than any other player we bring in. Not now that he's clearly done his due diligence on the character part.
