Burner's Burning Questions: Free Agency, Mocks, Camps, OTAs, Roster Predictions, 2019
With all the injuries the ‘medical staff' is an easy target. But what basis do we really have for trashing them? Injuries? If you can even make a rational argument someone is ‘to blame' for several seasons of horrific injury rates (I think it's debatable) I'm not sure team MDs would play a significant role in that. Wouldn't that be more a function of training and strength/conditioning staff? I doubt one can really make them culpable for a lot of what we've experienced but I can understand the argument and concerns. Post-op infections? Those surgeries are done by specialists, not team medical staff, in hospitals and those surgeons are likely operating on players all over the league. Infections happen for all kinds of reasons (nurses are doing dressing changes, home health personnel, even the patients and their families post-dc. Even when every effort is made to be careful, infections happen.
I'm just wondering what, exactly, the team physicians/medical staff have done that we actually know about is worthy of criticism?
Easiest thing in the world to throw that kind of stuff out there. Whether there is any merit at all to it is another thing.
