Can we also address this idea that our free agents are all leaving. There are 3 free agents of note on the team, Jackson, Garçon, and Baker.
Everyone expected Jackson to leave. He can get more money than he is worth, so this has been expected.
Garçon would be nice to keep, but not for the money he got in SF. That contract reeks of the early Snyder era contracts.
Baker is the one that will hurt if he does leave. He seemed to love Scot so this turmoil may cause him to leave. He's a guy who bounced around and then worked his way up from the practice squad to become a pretty good lineman, which is a position of need. Him leaving is a big blow to the team. It reminds me of when Antonio Pierce left. You want to keep those diamonds in the rough.
It remains to be seen if other free agents steer clear of D.C. There are a few that would be nice to have. But I think we can all agree the big free agent spending has rarely worked here. I'd rather not see them break the bank like days of old.
