Breakfast Cereals that are Legendary, for good or bad reasons

Special K & I did not get along well, if anyone remembers those years.
One of my best friends was a girl named Kristin and she had a Special K shirt.

I didn't like the cereal so much, but it was really cute when she wore the shirt.

I was trying to think how I could make my favorite breakfast into a joke on this thread 😜

These were SO good.

This is the one with the "nuttin honey" commercial, right? Which was a funny play on words?

Yea, the husband was tryin to conceal his bowl of Nut & Honey Crunch cereal from his wife.
The wife was like, "What're eatin there, Bob ?"
Husband goes, "uhh....Nuttin, honey."
Wife - "Well it looks like ya got somethin there ?!"
"I swear ! It's Nuttin, Honey !"

I think I might find some of the old cereal commercials on youtube and post them.

Frosted Flakes GIF

I came from a broken home (sniff*sniff*) so as a single parent mom didn't have time for a real breakfast. So I grew up on cereal and Tang. Never liked Wheaties and still don't. I remember the Quisp vs Quake thing as well but we did mostly Kellogg's. Frosted Flakes, Rice Crispies and Raisin Brand for sure but I also loved Sugar Smacks. Life and Shredded Wheat was in the rotation and still is, I ate oatmeal as a kid and don't remember disliking it but it's fuel now and not really enjoyable. And yep I liked and still eat Cream of Wheat, my friends tease me about it.

My mother wouldn't let me eat her granola.

I think that's why I love granola.

I think my favorites growing up wither golden grahams, rice crispies (to which I would add suguar), honey nut cheerios. I really liked team cheerios in college.

The really sugary cereals, like apple jacks and fruit loops, they weren't for me. I liked some sweetness but not candy sweetness for breakfast.

Genius, targeted marketing, even back then.
The parents are always the ones purchasing the cereals ; But do they advertise the sweet cereals during adult TV shows ?
NEVER !

They're banking on the households whose kids are able to easily influence parental decisions.
So they advertise sugary cereals during Saturday Morning Cartoons.
Then the extra marketing move of adding the Bonus Toy in certain cereals.

Naturally the parents get flooded with kid-pressure to buy these cereals.
And when they go shopping they have to take the kids with them.
Imagine about 3 kids all grabbing their mom's skirt and quickly dragging her to the sugary section, so fast that they glide right by the Wheaties and Shredded Wheat, etc without even realizing it.

And there was a study about why grocery stores have all of the sugary stuff at "eye level" to kids. It's all about marketing.
I buy those little $1 small cups...I can get a variety for less than buying just one.

I love Cream of Wheat!

I wonder how many people besides me, did not know this until recently.
It's perfectly fine and safe to eat raw oatmeal. And it's delicious.

Now I put it in smoothies, or I put it in a coffee grinder and use it as a topping for all sorts of things, or even
a gluten-free breading for frying.

In fact, I would have zero issues, eating a bowl of raw oats in milk.

Are you just horsing around here?

Just like the racehorses, raw oats provide me with quick-release energy, phosphorus, protein, fiber, and B vitamins.
Could be the reason why some call me the Italian Stallion

No matter how you prefer to prepare your oats or oatmeal, they will do your body right, if your plumbing is backed up
