after reading a post by TomE, i started thinking he made a very good point, and i think this is our best bet, obviously it will depend on the Rams being realistic about the worth of Bradford.

Trade our second rounder to them for Bradford, he has a harsh contract which wouldnt be bad for us as we are way under the cap anyway. if need be throw in a conditional 3 or 4 next year for if he plays the majority of snaps. they ditch his contract, and draft RG3 or Luck depending on who indy takes.

Sign Flynn , give him a solid deal and assure him that we are gonna get a better line in front of him, this costs no picks.

I think Tannehill will be available in the 3rd round if he is we grab him as our project guy. he might go in the second, if he does target Kellen moore in the 4th

I am a fan of the shotgun approach to filling holes, it gives us better odds.

then we use our first pick on the best OT available, and draft nothing but Oline and DB. bpa for the rest of those picks. in free agency we grab the best available linemen, if carl nicks is there we grab him and dont care what we pay. we grab the best available receiver as well, there should be a few. I think our defence this year will be about the same , even if we get jenkins back he is coming off an acl, its a 2 year recovery type injury, maybe sign a NT if a good one comes cheap. look at linebackers too because sometimes great ones come available. we need to be aggressive this offseason i a big way, i think this would be a hell of a start.

Yeah, but it would bad for them, I think. His bonus money, 50 million, that would have been prorated over the life of the contract, would accelerate and the balance would all wind up on next season's salary cap. Seems like too big a number for them to do it. I'm sure somebody here knows the way it would work better than I do, and can explain.

Considering the circumstances, I didn't think we were quiet last off season. No reason to believe we wouldn't be equally, or more, aggressive with a "normal" off season coming up.

Ry, why would Flynn sign here if we traded for Bradford? I suppose we could sign Flynn first and then trade for Bradford, but I think too many cooks in the huddle spoils the offense. I am in favor of bringing in two guys, a rookie and a vet placeholder. And hey, if we get a Rivers/Brees situation, great.

I think Ax is on the money - the cap hit is too massive for them to trade him. There is the chance of a sign & trade, restructuring his deal in such a way that the cap hit is shared more equally between the two teams, but he's not going to forfeit that guaranteed money.

I could be wrong but I don't think so. If the money has already been paid to the player by Team A then I don't believe there is a way to restructure the contract later to share that money with Team B. I think that only works with future money.

I meant the future money that hasn't been paid yet - his $51M guaranteed (or whatever the number was) is usually* spread out over the entire contract, meaning he's probably gotten a good chunk of it, but not all of it. Could still be a good $30M left if it was backloaded like Snyder likes to do.

*I don't know how his contract was structured, I nominate serv to search the Rams forums and find out.

I don't think Bradford is on the trading block. He proved to much in his rookie year. This comes down to three options. Trade up for RG3, sign Flynn or try to find another rookie that the Shanahan's love. You could always sign Flynn and draft a QB later but no way is Tannehill there in the 3rd round. I doubt he's there when we pick in round two, unless this foot injury is really severe. Another option is sign another free agent like Garrard or Orton but then it's safe to say we'll be looking for a QB in the draft. I am not sure which way I leaning yet. It is going to be interesting.

Ryman, the reasoning in your OP sounds like everyone that would be a party to these transactions are Skins fans seeking to help out our team, including the other 31 NFL franchises that would pass on Tannehill until the third round so we could take him. O.K., without having to reveal too much too soon about what Rams fans think, I was able to find this comment from Mike Florio on the price a team wanting Sam Bradford would likely have to cough up.

Per a source with knowledge of Bradford’s contract, the team already has paid him $30 million in only two seasons. He has $12 million guaranteed due in 2012, and he’s scheduled to earn another $9 million guaranteed in 2013.

And so, to trade Bradford, the Rams would need to find a team willing to cough up $21 million guaranteed over two years, which is only one million less than the total money Cam Newton received on a four-year contract as the top pick in 2011. Likewise, Bradford’s new team would have to be willing to give up multiple picks and/or players, with the package sent from Oakland to Cincinnati for Carson Palmer being the potential benchmark.

With Bradford’s buzz greatly diminished, it would be hard to persuade any team to give up anything of significant value for his services. Even then, the Rams would be watching $30 million walk away.

Bradford has shown the same proclivity to injury that he showed in college.

He is a player to stay away from at this point, regardless of the other circumstances.

Whatever else the Redskins do in the 2012 offseason, the team needs to come away with HEALTHY talent at the quarterback position for next season and the future.

The Rams are in free fall right now with no GM and no Head Coach.

When that's the case, usually fans will go down the roster of that team and think about 'stealing' players from that organization.

But Bradford is too big a fish in terms of contract and position to simply take him from the Rams for a draft pick.
