Can anyone please explain this from the Rams/Seahawks game on Thursday. The 2 point conversion attempt to tie the game was originally ruled incomplete, but overturned as a lateral. OK, but I thought in the NFL, fumbles (which this would be considered) could not be advanced unless the person who fumbled recovered it. Any help greatly appreciated.

It was not a fumble so fumble rules don’t apply.

It was called on the field by the referee as a backward pass. If it were indeed a backward or even parallel ‘pass’, why is an incomplete pass not simply incomplete? Ruled the same as a lateral to a RB?

I guess it was a live ball and the Rams could have returned it for 2?

Thanks, I guess I always thought a backward pass that hit the ground was considered a fumble. Appreciate the clarification.

The 4th quarter was really crazy all around. It was LONG trip home for that Ravens kicker.

They were moving the ball pretty well and had 3 timeouts. Got conservative at the end and settled for a FG attempt after just watching a kicker miss an XP. I'm surprised they didn't take a shot for the end zone.

I picked the Ravens to win but it'll be much more interesting having Rodgers in the playoffs. He might actually win a playoff game, LJ is just inept in the playoffs.

Those 2 curveball kicks to end the game was pretty crazy though.

Turned out to be one of the better HOF games in recent memory. 33-30

I'd still prefer to watch the DC Defenders or even a boring baseball game between 2 teams I don't care about.
