Adam Schefter ESPN.com : Redskins to start McCoy over RG III

I would say to the group here that Aaron Rodgers as often worked behind an average offensive line during his career. He has to make plays on the run and moving around rushmen in the backfield.

Andrew Luck's offensive line has been pretty poor since he joined the Colts. Last year he took a real beating. He has still been very productive.

Russell Wilson without a healthy Russell Okung and a backup starting at RG doesn't exactly have the reincarnation of the Hogs either.

Another question for thought - what kind of stats do you think Aaron Rodgers would be putting up if he had DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon added to his receivers corps? :)

How about New England? You think Brady wouldn't trade LaFell and Edelman for our group?

If you really doubt Snyder's desire to sell tickets is not a major concern, then I am going to simply disagree. I have no idea how you see it that way.

Let me ask you something. What do you think would be more profitable, long-term? Getting big name players every couple of years or actually maintaining a winning team year in & year out? Because honestly, if he really is that concerned about his "business" side of things, I would wonder about his business sense if failure is what he aiming for. Profits are good when we are losing. You think his mind isn't seeing $$$ when we finally start winning?

I wholeheartedly agree that this is the biggest problem with Snyder. He is too much of a fan and thinks too irrationally like a fan. I can see him thinking and saying the same things after each game that many on here say. It's also what drives his love and admiration for the superstars. You can be all those things as a fan, but as an owner you have a greater responsibility. Until he gets that or until he has someone who can stand up to him, things will still be messed up.

Yeah, I can't help but agree with this. I hope that he is learning thru his failures that he can't play Fantasy Football in real life & expect it to work. That's all we can hope for, because I don't see him going anywhere for a very, very long time.

You won't get any argument from me when it comes to the belief the team should be more profitable if they were winning. But here we are in the same place we have been for 12 years consistently with Snyder...out of contention in December, yet we maintain the title as 3rd most valuable franchise in the NFL.

Well, I think it is possible for the Redskins to erode their brand with the fans.

I remember after the Bullets won the title in 1978 and returned in 1979, the team went on a 10 year odyssey of bringing in over the hill players and failing to draft star player and going with duds instead.

Cap Center was always sold out for the Bullets until the mid-1980's and then support really fell off the cliff.

The team ended up 'selling' the opposing team's stars to get fans to come out and buy tickets.

Redskins' support is stronger and has lasted through that kind of period already, but you see empty seats at games. You see the team eliminate 10,000 seats to build a 'fan deck' that has never come to pass. You see the stadium half full of Steelers fans or Cowboys fans.

It's not the same vibe.

And I agree with the idea of a winning team creating more revenue. But as it stands, we are one of the least successful teams in the past 20 years yet we remain one of the most valuable.

My point all along is that Snyder will not take drastic action until the bottom line is hit...and hard. Empty seats mean little when the seats have already been purchased.

Before RG3 got here, there were many empty seats and large numbers of opposing fans. That has not been the case over the past few years. I have attended about 80% of the home games over the past 5 years. I have seen the difference. I remember how painful it was to see Dallass and Philthy fans take over our stadium, but I have yet to see that since Robert was drafted, even the Gnats blowout earlier this year.

And, say Colt goes down early, and Robert puts up 35 to win...what will you say then? No need to reply...I already know what you'll say.

Let's see what the game brings, shall we?

Well, that would be nice, but you have already stated Colt will bust so why are you asking us to wait and see?

Yeah, I think Colt will be a bust. What do you think?

I don't know. But the reality is...he can't be much worse than we've seen from any of our QBs this year. Griffin's play, for whatever reason you want to use, has been putrid.

I just have to ask... if Colt chokes this week, will you guys be going with the "it's only one game" shtick ... Maybe poor game planning, or the refs ? Remember, you're not allowed to use poor line play as an excuse. It doesn't matter how it plays out during the game. The only thing that will validate Colt is a win. He has to be held to the same standard that has Robert on the sidelines.

I don't know Pete....wasn't the mantra after both the Texans and the Bucs game, "well,it's just one game.."?

I think if the offense moves on a more consistent basis, that will tell a lot.

Well, that has been a common theme regarding Robert's supporters this year, especially his poor performance against the horrible Buccaneers.

If that happened I would be thrilled.

I'd really like it if we'd at least have the flexibility to use all of our draft picks in the first five rounds on something other than a QB if we choose to.

As this offense has shown in Cincy with a lot less talent, we don't even need a great QB.

We just need an average QB who can complete basic passes to wide open receivers. I don't believe asking for more than 7 points against Tampa after a bye is too demanding.

I think at least 50 QBs in the league can do that, and I believe we'll see immediate improvement.

You're not answering my question. Nothing in your reply has anything to do with my question.

McD, I know Gruden is your guy, but are you able to admit that under his tutelage Griffin has regressed?

He regressed under Shanahan's tutelage too. I would even go so far as to say the drop off from year 1 to year 2 was far greater than year 2 to year 3.

If he looks terrible, and by terrible I mean anything remotely close to what we've been seeing then we'll know that neither player is close to being an NFL QB. In that case, we'll have to hope that one of the three can improve dramatically, or we'll be forced to draft one.

I think he's looked like crap for a long time. He was awful last season, but I can write that off due to the injury and team drama.

He looked like complete crap this preseason, although many ignored it and just prayed that it was only preseason.

Then he dislocated his ankle. I can understand further regression. I imagine that he's wondering what's going to break next when he snaps the ball.

I don't blame RG3 for any of that. Nor do I blame the HC.

But he has to be shut down. We can't win like that.

I like this quote. And it may be (I hope) what we're seeing with Gruden right now. People want a disciplinarian--I believe we have one. He just benched Amerson, he pulled Kirk after too many ints and he just beched RG3. It doesn't need to be Gruden vs. RG3. We're all on the same side, with the same objective.

*“Every quarterback needs to be broken like a stallion at some point,”*Dilfer*said by telephone. “Sometimes you get lucky and they get broken in*college*and they come in totally pliable and they’re like a sponge. Tom Brady, right? He came to New England, and he was like, 'Coach me, Coach. Coach me. Whatever you tell me to do, I’m gonna do.’ Then there’s Brett Favres that take three years before you can break them. Everybody’s different, and I don’t think there’s good, bad. Everybody’s different.”

My full comprehensive comment on [Griffin] is that he needs to be broken. He needs to just say, 'Your way is better than my way. I will do whatever you tell me to do."
