February - the month of the NFL Combine and the unofficial start to draft season! With a highly regarded GM in Adam Peters, an energetic and upstart coaching staff under Dan Quinn, and franchise QB in Jayden Daniels, Washington football fans everywhere are waiting in anticipation to see what this franchise will do in April's draft and how they will go about attempting to become the class of the NFC in 2025.

If putting your feet up from Thursday through Saturday while watching the draft wasn't appealing enough for you, BGO is going to add even more fun to the NFL Draft festivities!

For the 5th consecutive year, we are back with the BGO "On The Clock" Commanders Draft Pool. This is easily the most challenging contest we have here at BGO and will undoubtedly be even more difficult this year with the Commanders picking in a spot we are not used to them picking in the first round - 29th. This contest is your chance to show your draft expertise and prove that you know better than everyone else here at BGO when it comes to the Commanders. It is also your opportunity to unseat Boone as our back to back champion. Winner prizes will be available if you need more incentive.

How The BGO Draft Pool Works/Scoring Rules:

1) Guess who you think the Commanders will pick with each of its current selections in the 2025 NFL Draft (assume no trade scenarios).
2) Earn 10 points for every player selected by the Burgundy and Gold that you guessed correctly.
3) Earn an additional 5 points for every player guessed correctly if you identified the correct round he was chosen in by the Commanders.
4) Earn 3 points if your pick for a round was incorrect, but your pick still matches the positional group selected by the Commanders in that round (per NFL Scouting Combine positional groupings).
5) Earn 2 points if your pick for a round was incorrect, but your pick still matches the round the player was chosen in by another NFL team.
5) The participant with the highest accumulated number of points will be declared the 5th Annual BGO "On The Clock" Draft Pool winner and receive a 1st place prize.

Previous Winners:

2021: Silent Threat
2022: Om
2023: Silent Threat/Boone
2024: Boone
2025: It could be you!

Tiebreakers:

The following will be used in the event of a tie for first place between two or more participants:

a) Tiebreaker 1: # of correct players picked by the Commanders.
b) Tiebreaker 2: # of predicted picks you made that match the round a player was selected in during the 2025 NFL Draft.
c) Tiebreaker 3: # of trades the Commanders will make during the 2025 NFL Draft.

Deadlines:

Have your Commanders draft choice predictions and tiebreaker posted by 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Thursday, April 24th, 2025. At that time, all selections will be noted and no further changes can be made to your predictions.

Note:

When making your picks, please post your choices clearly by indicating the Round #, Pick #, Player Name, and Position.

For your reference, the Commanders picks are:

Round 1 (29th pick):
Round 2 (61st pick):
Round 4 (128th pick via Houston)
Round 6 (205th pick):
Rount 7 (245 pick):

* If any of these picks change due to trades leading up to the start of the draft, we will update accordingly.

We hope to have as much participation as possible! If you aren't a draft guy, remember, your guesses are as good as anybody else's. Many of us spent a lot of time learning about the draft prospects a year ago and still didn't get a single Commanders pick right in the whole draft! There are a lot of mock draft simulators online that can familiarize you with the players and where they are generally projected to be taken in the draft. Also, be sure to check out some of the upcoming BGO Blind Pig draft podcasts, as they will help familiarize you with who is going to be available. There is lots of time to prepare and learn still! We hope to have our biggest group of participants yet in this upcoming draft pool! Start studying, get drafting and have fun, armchair GMs!

Wow - I'd forgotten I won this thing last year. I think I may have called the Ben Sinnott pick and that put me over the top. Bring it people - I dare you to take me out!

You are correct, Boone. Like a few of us, you hit on the Daniels pick. Over and above that, you got the Sinnott pick correct as well, making it the first time in this pool's history that somebody got two picks correct. However, given that your draft pool submission was made up strictly of guys we previewed in the BGO draft podcasts, I am awarding myself an assist, as I covered Sinnott. It must have been a pretty good sell job. ;)

In all seriousness, good on you for winning this twice already! I am coming with my "A" game this year, which likely means zero correct picks.

Round 1 (29th pick): James Pearce, DE Tennessee

Round 2 (61st pick): Kaleb Johnson, RB Iowa (The Adam Petersiest player in the draft IMO)

Round 3 (79th pick): Darien Porter, CB Iowa State

Round 5 (148th pick): Dont'e Thornton, WR Tennessee

Round 6 (197th pick): Jackson Slater, OG Sacramento State

Round 6 (207th pick): Tyler Loop, K Arizona

Rount 7 (231st pick): Karene Reid, LB Utah

I'll be absolutely floored if we turn in a card at 29 unless someone unexpected drops.

just a heads up to anyone that is participating, you can still go back and edit your picks.... :)

Yes, absolutely. I will also be editing our picks by round in the original post, as there have obviously been a few changes based on the trade activity this past week. I will give it a few days longer just in case anything pops up. Those who have already submitted entries will surely need to make some tweaks.

I will definitely be defending my crown - I just am not even remotely prepared to make my predictions yet...

My submission... could change...

Would love for some of our new members to get involved in this one. It's simple. Pick who the Commanders will draft in the upcoming draft. We'll give away some cool prizes to winners.

I will make guesses, but closer to the draft after Thor Nystrom has had ample opportunity to educate all of us of his genius and soothsaying abilities.

(Seriously though, I’ll make picks closer to the draft.)

KCComs, bowhunter, and tomwvr…

Please update your pick list prior to the draft to reflect our new allotment of picks since the trade activity. You all submitted entries before the Samuel/Tunsil moves. Thank you for participating this year!

I see little chance this sticks since I believe we will trade down at some point but here's my guess of what I think if it were set in stone mostly by our team meetings I suppose that's a good indication

Round 1 (29th pick): Edge Donovan Ezeiruaku (I'd take OT Aireontae Ersery)
Round 2 (61st pick): CB Maxwell Hairston (I'd take Edge Josaiah Stewart)
Round 4 (128th pick via Houston) Safety Jonas Sanker (I'd take CB Zah Frazier)
Round 6 (205th pick): OT Gerad Christian-Lichtenhan (I'd take RB Ollie Gordon)
Rount 7 (245 pick): TE Jackson Hawes (I'd take WR DaQuan Felton)
