4th Annual BGO Ballers Fantasy Football League

Bump...just in case. Still looking for 5 more for a second league. No sticky yet, but I'll keep trying!

Draft order has been generated - Mr. Neo is on the clock!

1. Neo Maltsters
2. Kel Varnsen
3. LSF
4. Ax Grinders
5. umbojay'say aginavay
6. Violator Bunnies
7. Ludicrous Speed
8. Goo Fudge Yourself
9. Al Morris Fan Club
10. El ****o
11. Bacon Strips
12. Goaldeje Rules All!
13. Fear the Kitty!
14. Prima Nocte

As always, it is a snaking draft order - so Neo picks first in round 1, but last in round 2, then first again in round 3, etc. etc. etc.

The real question is...will somebody pick Griffin before the 4th pick?

Be forewarned. I'm working on three voodoo dolls as we speak.

If any of you have something you wanted to say to Neo, Kel, or LSF, better say it soon.

Just in case.

So...Can I trade down? ;)

I'll give you a half eaten bag of cheetos and an autographed pair of Leonard Hankerson mickey mouse mitts. :D

For the benefit of everyone, I'd strongly suggest looking at the league scoring rules prior to drafting. There are what I believe to be a few changes.

Passing TDs: Now only 4 points. Making QBs less valuable. I believe they were 6 last season.

Kickers: Being severely punished for missing shorter kicks

Defenses: Being rewarded for allowing fewer yards, not just points this season.

Is that it? Am I correct?

I don't know how "severe" -1 point is, but yeah. I might switch back to 6pt passing TDs, but it definitely makes QBs much more valuable than any other position.

Probably a decision best made sooner rather than later, sir. I, for one, am weighing that change to QBs heavily in my draft strategy.

I'm fine with it either way, by the way.

Either way is great Lanky. I just thought I'd make people aware before they drafted. Even still, someone will forget.

Were passing TDs 6 last season, and 4 this year? Or were they 5 last season? Either is fine.

And I like defenses being rewarded for being stingy on yards. I don't remember that last year.

I also like the FG kickers being hit for easy misses. I thought I saw where a kicker would get a minus 3 for missing inside of 19 yards. I don't remember that either. But maybe it was that way, and I've just forgotten.

All are cool. And you had mentioned a few changes earlier in this thread. I just thought I'd mention them again.

Not trying to rock the boat, just my observations....

LL....I get you're trying to level the playing field between good running backs and mediocre QBs who throw for a lot of yards, but I don't like the change. In leagues with 14 having a good set of running backs is difficult enough and the equalizer is often your QB. Some go RB in the draft, some go QB, you often cannot have both in a league over 12 people unless you get lucky.

Also, there are very few defenses that don't allow yards these days. Making it harder for a defense to score positive points doesn't make anything better in my opinion. Last year I often picked the defense that would get the least negative points. Just my 2 cents. I'll obviously be fine with however it goes.

DM, I believe the changes this year make it easier for a defense to score points. Unless I'm crazy, which can definitely be argued, defenses this season earn points exactly like last season, and can now earn an additional bonus for yielding only a few yards.

The 4 points for a QB throwing a TD is standard in yahoo leagues, but I could have sworn it was 6 points in our league last year. But maybe it was only 5.

Yeah times they are a changing I guess. I was in an old school league for many years where a touchdown meant a touchdown for a long time. Giving a rb/te/wr/def full credit for a touchdown and a QB 2/3 credit just seems goofy to me. There are no defenses allowing fewer yards these days is my only point. It seemed to me there were only a few defenses that scored positive points in the league last year. I'm sure there's a bigger picture here I'm missing but just voicing my opinion.
