3rd Annual BGO "On The Clock" Draft Pool - WINNERS SILENTTHREAT & BOONE

Hit on one, although I had him going in the 6th.

Good one, Boone! That is going to go a long way towards winning this.

Won't be at all surprised if someone nails one in these last few rounds. I don't have much ability to add to my total. Good luck guys.

I haven't actually totalled everything yet for Day 3, Boone, but in scanning the results I think you are currently ahead of us all.

After a thrilling seven round BGO Draft Pool battle, Boone and SilentThreat finished tied for first place with 14 points each. Rounding out the top three was DieselPwr44 with 9 points. Yours truly would have won this pool by a country mile if we were all Patriots fans, but we are Redskins fans and as such, I finished in last place this year. Congratulations to Boone who was the only participant to get an actual Redskins pick correct with Braeden Daniels. Congratulations as well to ST for finishing in 1st place twice now in the three years we have ran the pool off the strength of matching many of his picks with proper rounds or positions selected by the Skins. As a result of my own error in not getting people to go back and submit a tiebreaker entry with their pool submission, both Boone and ST will receive a cool first place prize. If anybody is against that and wants them to battle it out so that only one man remains standing, a longest drive competition will be arranged and supervised by Om on a DMV golf course of his choosing. Either that, or you all come up to Canada and I can set up an ice fishing competition.

Congrats John and Derek! A job well done by you both!

You didn’t have to do that. I’m fact you could argue you’re more deserving because you actually got a player right

Paul.. maybe that's the tie-breaker going forward. Number of picks CORRECT. That way it's built in and nobody has to remember to put the tie breakers.

I agree, Derek. I was just thinking about that this morning and think that is the best route to go moving forward.

The only thing is though, that we will still require a second tiebreaker, as it is possible that there can be a tie at the top of the leaderboard without getting a pick right.

You are both still getting a prize though, even if Boone thinks he doesn't deserve it.

1. Most correct of players picked by WSH
then
2. Most correct of players picked by WSH with CORRECT ROUND
then
3. Most correct number of POSITIONS by round

I feel like hitting a player accurately should carry more weight than hitting a position group correctly

That can all work!

The competition committee here at BGO moves fast with instituting changes!

Derek - still need your address, as you only provided me with t-shirt size. If you can PM me that, it would be appreciated.

One other *rule* I think we need to include next year... I thought I had won outright because I had us drafting a LB in round 7 and we actually did draft one (Andre Jones) as that's how he was listed in college and in mock draft software. NFL.com had him listed as 'Edge'. The team has them listed as a 'Defensive End'. I think it needs to be how the team ultimately lists him (in their written announcement). 'Edge' is technically not a position so I think in the future that should be avoided entirely.

let's re-calculate that now.

I do think it would be good to clarify.

I changed it to DE, but i also changed KJ Henry from Edge to DE on both sides.

I added points to DP because he did have us taking RB with 1 of our 6th round picks, and we took one in that round. Paul, would you prefer we stand pat with the actual pick numbers? We were assuming 'no trades' so the pick numbers were locked in.

Hey Derek,

When I calculated the points, I did not worry about the trade that took away one of our 6th round selections. If a contestant identified RB as one of the selections for one of the two original 6th rounders they had, I gave them the points for that, even though one of the 6ths ended up being traded if that makes sense.

I'm not sure we can solve this by a 'rule' now that I'm looking at it more closely. KJ Henry is listed by the team on their website as 'Edge' and is also listed by the team as 'Defensive End' in PR releases. It may have to be left up to CH to rule on whether someone gets points for 'position' correct calls.

well DP had us taking an RB in the 6th according my sheet, but the calculator didn't include those points for him.

The position issue could also arise with DBs who may have played CB in college but project to S in the NFL, or when a player is listed as a 'Defensive Back' by the team or NFL.
