I'm not disagreeing. Fitz isn't "the answer." There are a lot of things we would need to address, I'm just looking at some of the struggles of this team, and Fitz could be a big part of what we need. Leadership/WR talent/Veteran Presence have all been brought into question, and Fitz could be a massive piece of that puzzle.

Obviously offensive line would be a necessity, as if Griffin doesn't have time to throw it, then it doesn't matter who's catching it. I do believe Fitz could alleviate SOME of the issues we've seen, but by no means am I saying he would change everything. There obviously would be other pieces needed before we turn that corner.

he has confidence in the pocket that he can get out before getting hit
because of that confidence he is able to hold on to the ball a little bit longer and get it to his receivers
he knows he is the fastest and best athlete on the field
he is almost cocky he is so good


last year all of that applied to Griff. there were no questions by anyone about his athleticism as well as accuracy. this year he is being doubted for everything and anything he does. it has to take its toll mentally and shake your core.

Mike, they are saying it about Griff because it is true. I'm not saying it will be true next year but right here, right now, it is true.

But you have to remember that Cam is now in his 3rd year, after 3 full off seasons with pretty much the same guys around him and 2 full off seasons with the same coordinator. He has not suffered any major injuries that have stolen months from his development as an NFL QB. Griff is a year behind him in terms of playing time and 2 full years behind him in terms of off season work with his team.

They will say those things about Robert. I believe it. It will come and when it does they will say it louder and more often then they do about Cam because I believe Griff will be the better QB. In 5 years Griff and Luck will be the Brady, Manning, Brees, Rogers guys of NFL signal callers.

I actually believe it's a fairly simple fix.

Now, do I know exactly what the issue is? No. But I'd bet it has something to do with a negative atmosphere. Maybe not one that's being set by anything the coaches are doing, or the front office or players... Rather, it's set by what has transpired and the perfect storm of crap that hit us starting with the Griffin injury, the should he or shouldn't he have stayed in the Seattle game saga, the offseason talking, ect.

From there, with Griff looking out of sync the first few weeks, I think the walls started to cave.

Here's the crazy part: I don't think anyone, in particular, is to blame. That's scary in and of itself, because the natural tendency is to blame someone, but the whole thing was kinda like a really odd alignment of all the planets in the universe.

You ever have that coworker you don't really like, and they don't like you? But you act as if everything is fine anyways, for the sake of your job and the work atmosphere? I think there were some of those feelings around Redskin Park. You know, when everyone is doing their part, no one has anything to say (last season), but when things go wrong, fingers begin to point all over the place and those true emotions of annoyance come out?

I think that's what's happening here.

And the solution is someone, or something, has to move.

It's an "atmosphere" issue that can only be resolved by removing the issue. Now, who the issue is? I have NO idea.

No disrespect, but bringing in a 30 year old Fitz and paying him what he will require would be absolutely stupid imo. The Skins have so many holes they need to address this offseason. The last thing they need to do is pay a 30 y/o receiver.

The redskins' current receiver corp is pretty good. They desperately need olinemen, dlinemen, a middle linebacker, and safeties.

Understood, but with Fletcher and Moss presumably hanging them up...whose goin to be your vet? D.Hall? This team is going to get young very fast, especially on offense.

Morgan/Moss/Davis aren't coming back. You've got a lack of leadership, you need experience, you need a wr, and Fitz can be that round peg round hole. In this NFL, WR are effective a lot longer then the used to be

We've had a bad 15 years, and it's affected the fan base. We've been bad for so long, that we often times don't even know what good football looks like. We're kind of content to be mediocre, for fear of Dan having to make another football decision, and thereby making us even worse. We may be a little slow, but here are three things that I believe the entire fan base will accept in time.


1. The faster this entire coaching staff is gone, the better.

Our coaches suck. Our HC hasn't won a playoff game in 14 years. That's not just bad luck, or a coincidence. He was fired in Denver for being a terrible GM, and for an awful coaching staff. Nothing's changed--it's foolish to think it would. No other team wants any of our coaches-we shouldn't either.

2. RG3 may never be the same again, and it probably doesn't even matter.

Shanahan's worst mistake was risking RG3 last season. Now he may come back like Adrian Petrerson in time, or he may be done like Duante Culpepper was affter his injury. But the truth? It doesn't matter. I swear sometimes it really does feel like we're cursed. We waited 15 years for a franchise QB, and as soon as we got one, four or five other clones immediately appeared. There are now four or five other RG3s that are as good as he was last year, or better. Even at 100% health, he is no longer enough. He isn't special. And that brings me to number three.

3. We will trade the farm for Famous Jameis, and he will save this franchise.

Fans still in denial may find this outrageous, but it isn't. But don't take my word for it. Jimmy Johnson just called him "maybe the best QB prospect he's ever seen." Wow! That's quite a slap in the face to hall of famer Troy Aikman. Well, I knew that two months ago, and Redskins Nation will finally come around and agree in about another year. Whether it's another serious injury to RG3, or it's another year of mediocre play, the fans will agree and get behind a push for the Prodigy. The Chosen One. He is special. And finally, this franchise will be resurrected.

I don't want to sound like Ryman (no offense Ryman) but let's see where we are at.

Realistic people will now accept this within the next 60 days. The stubborn ones may take 6 months. And then, point three will become clear.

It might take thirty minutes to respond to that properly, and in context. Lol. In short, that was an awful call. The reasons why, or excuses, don't mean anything.

about Rg3, lets call a spade a spade, he is not the same player he was last year, but part of that is due to the injury and part due to the Oline letting him get hit on damn near every play. I actually hope that shanny pulls him for the rest of the season. first we get to see if cousins is good trade bait and let him take the hits. second we can see who needs to stay and who needs to go.

I hope snyder is looking at potential Gms' hell I would throw my hat in the ring lol

I have the feeling that Cousins trade value is as high as it is going to be right now. We play him with this AWFUL line, he will look bad and his value diminishes.

If you change up the play calling and go to a 3 step and throw WCO We could negate some of the deficiencies of the line. Cousins can throw the slants and crosses that Griffin has been missing on. He has a faster release.

Cousins throws floaters. Throwing a lot of slants with him is begging for a pick six.

Cousins doesn't throw the 20 yard out pass as the elite qbs do, but I have yet to see him or Griffin throw many of the traditional WCO staples.

The key is to develop a rhythm of the short and intermediate passes to allow receivers to get RAC and maintain ball control down the field using the pass as an extension of the run.

As someone else indicated on the site, Walsh developed the WCO to offset what at the time was a weak offensive line.

Kyle likes the slower developing deep passes off play action in tandem with the stretch runs. Defenses have been able to figure out the 2 man routes and we don't seem to have an answer for that.

We need to be more flexible and run what works for the personnel we have on both sides of the ball.

That has been perhaps the greatest disappointment during Shanahan's years here. He has stubbornly stuck to a mantra of 'what we do works' despite on the field evidence to the contrary WITH THIS GROUP OF PLAYERS.

I disagree. You have to give Cousins a chance. You can't look at a guy coming into a 10-45 game cold off the bench and evaluate his performance with any clarity.

Cousins lacks mobility of Griffin obviously, although he can scramble. But I think he may have a quicker release and better footwork at this stage of his career and if Kyle is willing to run plays that take advantage of THOSE qualities he could post some respectable numbers.

If Cousins is asked to hand the ball off to Morris on first and second downs and then use play action to throw deep on third down, then NO I don't think he will be that effective because that is not playing to his strengths.
