Just for fun...

Put on your prognosticating hats.
Clear your minds.
Look into the dark mysterious future.

And take a stab in the dark at 3 things that, however unlikely, you boldly predict will happen during the 2011 Washington Redskins season.

We'll check back in at the end of the season and see if anyone nailed something truly prescient.

I'll go first.

The Washington Redskins lead the league in rushing in 2011

Laron Landry doesn't play a regular season down in 2011

Redskins earn a wildcard playoff berth and Mike Shanahan wins Coach of the Year honors

Redskins finish second in NFE

Offense ranks in top 10

Defense ranks in top 15

Rex Grossman throws for over 4000 yards.

Gomes has 3 sacks and 3 int's on the year.

Fred davis has more receptions than Chris Cooley this year with Cooley hauling in his least amount since his 37 rec. in his rookie year in the NFL.

Love it. Keep 'em coming guys/gals...

Key word here is BOLD

Jabar Gaffney will have 1000+ yards and 8+ TDs.

Helu and Hightower each finish with 800+ yards and 5+ TDs

Rak will have 11+ sacks.

Trent Williams gives up 8 or more sacks

Tana has 10 plus td's

Beck starts the season as the starter but is replaced in week 3 at halftime by Rex who leads the team from an 0-2 start to 10-6 finish

Cofield records four sacks, and two forced fumbles.

Orakpo get defensive player of the year

Redskins sweep Dallas....

The Redskins will be among the top teams in the league with a team total of 40+ sacks.

The Redskins sweep the Giants and finish second in NFCE. They also win a Monday night game against the Cowboys and split with the Eagles.

The Redskins rank in the top 8 in rushing with a team total over 2,000 yards.

Malcolm Kelly is signed by the New England Patriots after he is cut and has more catches than Albert Haynesworth has games played in.

Anthony Armstrong proves he is an all star deep threat and earns a Pro Bowl birth.

The Redskins make the playoffs, but are still listed by ESPN in their power rankings as the 31st ranked team.

(Only one of these I think is in the realm of possibility)

The Magic number is 5

Defense will finish in the Top 5 overall defense.

The Redskins will finish in the Top 5 in rushing.

They lose no more than 5 games this season.

1. Jarvis Jenkins earns Defensive Rookie of the Year honours.

2. Redskins begin to finally establish a sense of home field advantage and begin making FedEx Field a difficult place to visit for opponents. They finish the season with a 5-3 home record.

3. Stephen Bowen records 4 sacks and 1 forced fumbled combined in his two games vs. his old team, the Cowboys.

The team will keep two quarterbacks on the active roster - Rex and Beck.

Chris Cooley, Brandon Banks, Ryan Torain, and LaRon Landry will be placed on IR just prior to final roster cuts.

Graham Gano will have a pro bowl season.

Redskins finish bottom 10 defensively. Showing some improvement as we have better talent but still displaying the same poor schemes.

Redskins finish 4th in the NFCE but show improvement in how tight the games are, rather than 50 point losses we lose by a td most of the time.

Barry Cofield proves to be the best pick up of the offseason, followed by Jenkins and Kerrigan but its not enough to offset a brutal secondary who play without landry for most of the season.

1. Graham Gano shocks everyone when he converts a 60 yard field goal, but misses an extra point in the same game.

2. Roy Helu finishes the season with over 1,200 yards rushing and 15 TD.

3. Donte Stallworth finally has his breakout season in the NFL, breaking Art Monk's team record by hauling in 107 receptions.

1) Skins will start 4-0.

2) Terrence Austin will overtake Anthony Armstrong as the 3rd reciever and deep threat.

3) Skins will average over 5.0 yards a carry while no one runningback goes for over 1100 yards.

I think you missed the 'bold' part :)

They don't have to be positive predictions, but those sound more like your usual predictions to me.
