With the arrival of the NFL Combine, the anticipation for the start of the 2022 NFL Draft will continue to grow. What will the Washington Commanders do in the draft? Are we going to target our franchise QB, or will we address other positions of need like Linebacker, Guard, Corner, or Wide Receiver in the early rounds? Are we going to trade up, trade down, or stay put at #11? Will we go completely off the board and make head scratching choices that nobody anticipated? The element of the unknown is part of what makes the NFL Draft so intriguing and fun.

If putting your feet up from Thursday through Saturday while watching the draft wasn't appealing enough for you, BGO is going to add even more fun to the NFL Draft festivities!

For the second consecutive year, we are back with the BGO "On The Clock" Draft Pool. This is your chance to show your draft expertise and prove that you know better than everyone else here at BGO when it comes to the Commanders. It is also your opportunity to unseat SilentThreat as the defending champion. Did I mention prizes? Oh yeah, it's also your chance to earn cool prizes if you are the pool champion!

How The BGO Draft Pool Works/Scoring Rules:

1) Guess who you think the Commanders will pick with each of its 6 current selections in the 2022 NFL Draft (assume no trade scenarios).
2) Earn 10 points for every player selected by the WFT that you guessed correctly.
3) Earn an additional 5 points for every player guessed correctly if you identified the correct round he was chosen in by the Commanders.
4) Earn 3 points if your pick for a round was incorrect, but your pick still matches the position selected by the Commanders in that round.
5) Earn 2 points if your pick for a round was incorrect, but your pick still matches the round the player was chosen in by another NFL team.
5) The participant with the highest accumulated number of points will be declared the 2nd Annual BGO "On The Clock" Draft Pool winner and receive a 1st place prize. 🏆

Tiebreakers:

The following will be used in the event of a tie for first place between two or more participants:

a) Tiebreaker 1: Indicate how many trades there will be in total in the entire 2022 NFL Draft (league-wide).

Deadlines:

Have your 6 Commanders draft choice predictions and tiebreaker posted by 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Thursday, April 28th, 2022. At that time, all selections will be noted and no further changes can be made to your predictions.

Note:

When making your 6 picks, please post your choices clearly by indicating the Round #, Pick #, Player Name, and Position.

For your reference, the Commanders picks are:

  • Round 1 | Pick 11
  • Round 2 | Pick 47
  • Round 4 | Pick 112
  • Round 6 | Pick 188
  • Round 7 | Pick 228
  • Round 7 | Pick 237

* If any of these picks change due to trades leading up to the start of the draft, we will update accordingly.

We hope to have as much participation as possible! If you aren't a draft guy, remember, your guesses are as good as anybody else's. Many of us spent a lot of time learning about the draft prospects a year ago and still didn't get a single Commanders pick right in the whole draft! There are a lot of mock draft simulators online that can familiarize you with the players and where they are generally projected to be taken in the draft. Also, be sure to check out some of the upcoming BGO Blind Pig draft podcasts, as they will help familiarize you with who is going to be available. There is lots of time to prepare and learn! Get drafting and have fun, armchair GMs!

Canadian Hog - I tried to update the draft pick list in the OP to reflect the changes from the Wentz trade but it doesn't like me editing your post.

How dare it not allow you to, Neo!

Thanks for the reminder! I will head back in there to make the changes.

Seems like I am having issues being able to edit the original post with the draft choice list as well. For the time being, I will post the updated draft position list here for the Commanders. As of now, we own the following picks:
  • Round 1 | Pick 11
  • Round 2 | Pick 47
  • Round 4 | Pick 112
  • Round 6 | Pick 188
  • Round 7 | Pick 228
  • Round 7 | Pick 237

Hey folks!

This is just your friendly reminder that the draft is 3 weeks away. We are looking forward to a great BGO Draft Pool and encourage you all to participate, no matter how much or little you think you know about the college prospects.

Love this contest! I will definitely participate, just haven't done my homework yet. Btw folks, we'll be doing draft Blind Pig pods over the next 3 weeks where we'll highlight some top contenders.

Here's my first go at it...

Round 1 | Pick 11 - Kyle Hamilton - S - Notre Dame

Round 2 | Pick 47 - Alec Pierce - WR - Cincinnati

Round 4 | Pick 112 - Troy Andersen - LB - Montana State

Round 6 | Pick 188 - James Mitchell - TE - Virginia Tech

Round 7 | Pick 228 - Dai'Jean Dixon - WR - Nicholls State

Round 7 | Pick 237 - Jack Coan - QB - Notre Dame

Total number of draft day trades - 17

Wanted to get something on paper so it doesnt slip away, this will probably change before the deadline....

Looks great!

Hamilton in round 1 is the dream scenario in my opinion.

I'm going to submit mine after next week's Blind Pig episode where we discuss defensive prospects. I'm going to take a stab at this using ONLY players mentioned by the Blind Pig crew :)

I shall participate even though I'm just winging it since I watch almost no college football

1. Ikem Ekwonu - OT (also plays guard) - was tempted to take Pickett but I don't see him last until 11
2. Alec Pierce - WR - Cincy
4. Brian Robinson - RB - Bama
6. Luke Goedeke - OG - I doubt he drops this far but in the simulator I used he did - otherwise I'd have gone with another direction
7.Tycen Anderson - S - Toledo
7. Jeremiah Gemmel - LB - North Carolina

7 trades

Here’s my entry… I planned to go only with players we covered in Blind Pig pods but we didn’t go into enough late round players to make that 100% feasible. All but the last 2 we discussed.

47 - Quay Walker LB
112 - Jelani Woods TE
188 - Hassan Haskins RB
228 - Brad Hawkins S
237 - Shaun Jolly CB

Tie-breaker 18 trades
