2026 Commanders Training Camp

Sainristill and Newton struggling really sucks and they need to step it up. Right now it's not a good look for AP's first draft.

We really need a healthy Amos to show up big, this will be pivotal

The WR competition just ignited!

Don't know if Newton is struggiling but just noticed upon my listening and I listen to just about everyone, Newton has had no mentions.

As to Peters first draft, purely judging by camp buzz, Luke might break out.

That trade down with the Eagles is looking epic bad so far.

Newton has a lot of competition and many of those guys have received positive mentions by the media, coaches and players

A Luke breakout would be huge, but that is definitely a wait and see. Similar with Sinnott who really needs a big year as well.

There were a few of us that did not like that trade down with the Eagles and were blasted for saying so. To be honest, I would have taken DeJean at 36 where we took Newton and was the name I was expecting to hear called

I almost put that qualifier in, but I wanted to be nice. Mind you, I don't want to get into it again, but that was what he was good at in college. Catching the short ball and taking off.
Lane has so much potential but MAN his hands seem bad.

Which is problematic when your entire job is to catch the ball and run with the ball in your hands.

Not only does he drop passes, he is also fond of fumbling it after making that rare catch as well.

Is there an around the NFL gameday thread around here to discuss the HOF game and any other non-commanders games? I looked but couldn’t find one

Based solely off the score of the game at the end of the first you could probably go to the "watching paint dry" thread and have a better time.

Keep in mind this is just one guy's opinion over quick observations in practice.

Others may see it differently.

That warm fuzzy feeling from the diggs signing didn't last too long.

I know right.

All those who have spent the off-season screaming for Washington to sign Diggs are now showing trepidation about it.

"He's old.. he's a journeyman... his presence is going hinder Antonio Williams development..."

Washington fans have become the biggest bunch of fickle mush heads in sports. 🤣

I don’t think those are the same people. The people who wanted Diggs are happy with Diggs and onto the next roster weakness lol.

C. Sainristill has struggled
That's terrifying. (We don't do politics here, but there is a great meme from a politician saying "that's terrifying" which I would love to have included but I'm going to restrain myself. But it would have fit.)

D. Croskey-Merritt looks to be pulling away in the RB competition -- Rachaad White hasn't stood out (this was if I recall Grant and David Harrison)
JP has said White has looked good and looks FAST. I have no idea what's true, but he's said it a few times.

E. Blough's offense has a lot of the WRs throwing the ball including Antonio
Razzle Dazzle man. Over-under on when the Razzle Dazzle turns into too cute?

F. Antonio seems to be stuck playing with the 2's
If Luke is shining (which is a REALLY positive development) and is the reason Williams is stuck with the 2's, I'll take it.

G. My own thought listening to all these guys, seems to be no buzz about Johnny Newton
That's a good point. I haven't heard squat about him. But honestly, I haven't heard much about any of the DTs except that Cosmi put Kinlaw on his backside in their first rep with pads.

I R. Douglas, best CB in camp
And Amos hasn't proacticed yet (I haven't seen if he practiced today.)

That's also terrifying

And then there are those of us who were terrified of CB before. During and after the Diggs signing.

Who are "all those"? SIP, Conn, Kdawg, Boone, me... I can't think of anyone else who got people annoyed with how often we posted about it? None of us are complaining. I'm curious now, who feels different now?

You spelled Aiyuk wrong 😉

Responding way late because I was on vacation for the last week but the whole "What is a true #1 WR?" thing.....I sort of look at it the way I do the QB position. I think in a normal season there are probably anywhere from 4-6 QBs that actually make their roster better. Of course having any elite players around them helps even more, but the QB will continue to produce regardless of who you put around him. It doesn't always translate to wins for all the circumstances we already can speak on ourselves, but the QB looks elite regardless. Then you have the franchise QB's that are just under that Tier 1 who are still justifiably considered franchise QB's but aren't quite the force multipliers the elite of the elite are. As a WR, Terry is a #1 at his peak but his ceiling from what I have seen is just below that Top 5-6 in the league. He can break the Top 10 under the right circumstances.

Now we are attacking others on the board that's really sad

We are here to support our team and support the fans who love our team. I really find that to be offensive

This is a good point. I wonder if this is a function of the Flores style defense. DT’s in that scheme have complained before.

Seems to be mixed opinions on Sainristil at camp. Mitch Tischler, when talking on the corner backs said ‘Mikey is still the best’. Didn’t elaborate any further so perhaps he just has a crush. Don’t know much about the guy but he’s been at camp everyday and he gave a good summary of camp week 1 on the Trap or Dive podcast. There was also a clip of 1 on 1’s with receivers. It featured Mikey 4 times. On 1 Terry beats him pretty easily. On the other 3 he was competitive including a pbu on one of them. Not bad on a drill that heavily favours the WRs. Matt Bullock was also impressed on this sequence. So there’s also some good there too
