2025 - 2026 Commanders Schedule

That schedule looks pretty brutal. But if we're actually that good it shouldn't matter much.

Imma just say this about Bears @ Commanders. I think it is going to be more of a test and pressure cooker for Caleb. He was supposed to be the QB that JD5 is so far and even him just turning into a good QB this season isn't going to be enough to quiet the whispers, he likely has to take several steps for that to happen. Ben Johnson could be an asset for him, but ultimately, I still think Caleb has to show he even can be that QB eventually. I didn't see anything from his rookie season that jumps out and says "This guy is going to be great one day." It isn't even about wins or losses, just watching his play.

Do you think we can pull off 12 or 14 wins this year?

Is it too soon to predict our record?

Week 1: vs. New York Giants - W
Week 2: @ Green Bay Packers - L
Week 3: vs. Las Vegas Raiders - W
Week 4: @ Atlanta Falcons - W
Week 5: @ Los Angeles Chargers - L
Week 6: vs. Chicago Bears - W
Week 7: @ Dallas Cowboys - L
Week 8: @ Kansas City Chiefs - L
Week 9: vs. Seattle Seahawks - W
Week 10: vs. Detroit Lions - W
Week 11: @ Miami Dolphins - W
Week 13: vs. Denver Broncos - W
Week 14: @ Minnesota Vikings - L
Week 15: @ New York Giants - W
Week 16: vs. Philadelphia Eagles - W
Week 17: vs. Dallas Cowboys - W
Week 18: @ Philadelphia Eagles - L

I’ve got us at 11-6, but I’ll admit to making an optimistic revision from my original 9-8 prediction (flipped Detroit and @NY to wins). I think we will still be good, but we have a tough schedule, and 12 wins is a lot.

Detroit's going to be an interesting one to play out. Their head coach is supposedly not an X's and O's guy but a culture/set the tempo guy. They lost both their offensive and defensive coordinators. That's a lot to absorb so while they still have the talent who knows how the change in brainpower effects them.

Thoughts on the schedule:

- the number of prime time/nationally televised games tells you everything about how we are now viewed by the league
- love the early TNF game. Get it out of the way and get that early-season mini-bye to do a little self-scouting after 2 live-fire games
- love the bye after the international game in Madrid.
- love the Week 12 bye
- hate seeing Philly on the schedule twice in 3 weeks (Philly also has NY twice in 3 weeks earlier in the season). Division games should be spread out further
- hate having Dallas on a 4 day turn-around after the first Philly game
- love having a mini-bye before the second Philly game to end the season

Interesting stat that maybe hasn't been noticed much. Currently, Washington is projected to have something like the 10th hardest schedule in the NFL this year and yet we are projected to have the easiest schedule of the NFC East teams.

I know predicting W/L is fun but sort of like last season I feel like it is hard to predict when this still feels like a team in transition, a team figuring out it's identity and foundation. 2024 was such a special season because the success came so quick and before I personally felt this team had turned over enough of the roster to have an impact. The schedule is more difficult this season, but I also think on paper the team is better. A lot of close wins last season, but also a couple of games where it felt like were in the grasp that slipped away.

I think predicting 1-2 less wins this season is safe based solely on the difficulty of the schedule and me still thinking the roster needs some work overall, but I always like to wait a month into the season to get a feel for what the team is going to be and also if last season showed anything, with JD5 under center, you just need to find a way to get into the postseason in any way at any seed and good things are going to happen.

Well, let's see....

Week 1: vs. New York Giants - W
Week 2: @ Green Bay Packers - W
Week 3: vs. Las Vegas Raiders - W
Week 4: @ Atlanta Falcons - W
Week 5: @ Los Angeles Chargers - W
Week 6: vs. Chicago Bears - W
Week 7: @ Dallas Cowboys - W
Week 8: @ Kansas City Chiefs - W
Week 9: vs. Seattle Seahawks - W
Week 10: vs. Detroit Lions - W
Week 11: @ Miami Dolphins - W
Week 13: vs. Denver Broncos - W
Week 14: @ Minnesota Vikings - W
Week 15: @ New York Giants - W
Week 16: vs. Philadelphia Eagles - W
Week 17: vs. Dallas Cowboys - W
Week 18: @ Philadelphia Eagles-W

I don't see 12 or 14 wins.

I see 17 wins.

Bank on it. 😁

Yeah I agree...definitely more of a pressure test for Caleb. However, if you read the Bears forums, they've mostly managed to convince themselves that Caleb had an amazing season last year. They just keep repeating how many yards he threw for and that the record number of sacks were mostly not his fault (even though analytics have completely disagreed with that). And if anyone brings up the fact that he had a bottom 5 QBR in the whole NFL, they freak out and scream about how QBR doesn't actually mean anything. It's an interesting combination of funny and sad.

I've seen the same and don't really understand it. Honestly I only watched 3 maybe 4 games of his last season and my takeaway was that he holds the ball too long trying to make something happen. On the other hand, his line was breaking down very quickly and I know that can affect timing and rhythm. He might benefit from some design roll outs instead of spending all play dancing around the pocket. I think he's going to be better this year mostly in part to Ben Johnsons play calling and better line play, but I wouldn't put him as a top QB in the NFC, let alone his division.

So my brother his best friend and my son are trying to see all the stadiums. We are planning to go to someplace new for them. I just don't want to do a winter game. I will keep you guys posted for future tailgate stuff

I want to go to Spain but I think it is financially prohibitive for some people

That is a lot of change for Detroit, so who knows? I still think they are a very good team that will be highly motivated when they play us after we broke their hearts last year. I guarantee they have that game circled on their calendar, so I worry about it for that reason.

And the thing with this schedule if the eagles and skins are good they could play 3 games in 4 weeks
Yeah that's nuts. I am never a big fan of us being scheduled with a division rival twice within a few weeks. It can give one team a big advantage if they come when key players are out or banged up.

I told my wife I am not available for Christmas this year.
I’m lucky. We do Christmas gift stuff early, have breakfast, and then nothing until dinner when we host my family.

So the timing lines up when I usually take a nap. :)

My son and I have the same goal... Hit every stadium. This year we will be in LA - looking forward to seeing that stadium, and it's a direct flight for us which is impossible flying anywhere on the east half of the US.

Spain is amazing. Ive been to Madrid and to Santiago Bernaeu stadium. That would be an amazing trip... Follow it up with a speed train ride to Barcelona for a few nights and it would be a once in a life time trip. Ive been to many European countries and Spain is our Favorite. Jealous of anyone making that trip.
