2024 - Way too early draft thread

I am absolutely stunned. I know I've been Mr. Wet Blanket where the topic of our draft position is concerned but that's because nothing ever works out like this for this team.

On a potentially concerning note, have the Giants found their own Brock Purdy?

I don't think so, but I do think Daboll is a good offensive mind. Look what's happened to Buffalo's offense and Allen since he left. Frankly, I think DeVito is sort of pulling a Hienicke. He's playing gutsy, making some nice throws, making some nice runs, but is playing mostly on the fumes of luck and on the back of a defense that's actually pretty good.

However, DeVito is taking advantage of his moment and who knows?

The NFL gets feel-good QB stories like DeVito now and again ... Mike White ... Josh Dobbs ... Taylor Heinicke? ... etc. They show up at the right time and place, show moxie, display natural physical ability and play fearless ball knowing this is their shot. Many--perhaps most--manage to keep things going for a few weeks, and then reality starts to set in. NFL defensive coordinators study their tape, figure out what they do best, then start to take that away, forcing the young QB to show he can adjust and beat them doing the things he doesn't excel at. A few, like Purdy so far at least, on really good teams, can continue to thrive. Most, in less ideal situations, eventually settle back to their real level.

I salute all of these men.
Great week for the home team!!

Tommy DeVito is making plays for a team where the head coach and GM seem relatively safe in their jobs after going to the playoffs and beating the Vikings last year.

The vibe with Daboll is completely different than the vibe here with Rivera.

Injuries haven't derailed this team, its poor draft picks and lack of execution on the field over 4 years.

The Giants signed Daniel Jones to a huge contract which looks to be as bad a decision as any in the NFL in recent years. So it’s not just injuries, they have their own issues.

That’s who we need to draft with that first pick. Make it happen Washington.

Have shamrocks now been deemed hate speech? Don’t get it…

Maybe it was the closing ‘love thee’. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Fashanu or Alt? Who's better?

Looking at pre-draft stuff some have Fashanu ahead of Alt but Alt is bigger, has higher 2023 PFF numbers, and is very good vs. both the pass and run blocking. Fashanu has elite movement and is probably better vs the pass but is not a great run blocker.

Just my drive by take based on reading profiles.

2 things that stood out to me about Alt. 1 was that he started at ND as a TE before moving to LT and 2 is that he is only 20yo.

This is what i've heard.

Basically that Fashanu is an ELITE pass blocker with the ability to develop into something special. Alt is the more well rounded, day 1, top tier OT.

I like what Brian Mitchell said.

Washington needs to draft the best OT in the draft and as part of that evaluation the guy has to have a nasty side like Trent Williams, a guy that isn't afraid to knock guys on their *** and protect the quarterback with punches if necessary

Howell has taken some late shots here and no one really came to his defense - that was the drift of what Mitchell was saying.

He took a look back at Brock Purdy getting hit in an earlier game this season and Trent Williams knocked the guy on his *** after the play was over.

We don't have any bulldogs on this team unfortunately.

It's hard to win with poodles and small terriers :biggrin-new:

Very nice overview of UNC’s Maye…
