I am hoping they trust Sinnott enough to be able move him all around. I don't understand why they really didn't use him after the Bates inury

I remember with the Caps, people were confused when one young guy (Vrana) didn’t get playing time. He had some defensive liability issues but the team needed speed and finish and those were his specialties. Injuries forced the change and he was awesome for them at the time.

I think with the way NFL teams practice, this would be less likely. I don’t know that those guys are going to be shockingly good out of the gate but if they can get some extended time… could be interesting. Sometimes you just need a bit more of an opportunity.

I thought Sinnott was supposed to be our Juzczyzk. Doesn’t seem we have used him that way at all

For sure, that's what they led us to believe. I hope to see that and him getting in the open field with the ball, he is fun doing that!

My only hope with him is that he's following the traditional TE development path. Used to be the case that TEs needed ~3 years of seasoning before they really were good to go.
 
Yankoff has really never had the chance to get on the field and make a play in the pass offense.

We don’t run two or three TE packages much outside of goal line to block.

We see Washington start rookies and younger players on the offensive line but Kliff only seems interested in using the 30 year old backs, receivers and 35 year old TE as skill targets.

Lane and Merritt are the 4.3 and 4.4 guys we drafted to upgrade our speed on that side of the ball.

With the injuries and lack of production we can’t afford to keep these guys in mothballs until mid-season.

We ran 12 personnel as much as anyone last year and the first two games this year. I'd bet we run 13 and 03 as much as anyone or more.

Last year we said 12 personnel was our base offense.
 
Sinnott end last year with the same amount of catches that Ja'Mar Chase has in one game.

For a second round pick? That's downright anemic.

We have seen athletic tight ends and receivers come into the league that have issues with blocking, etc. but the teams find a way to get them onto the field for specific plays to showcase their playmaking ability, even if they are not trusted 100% to be regular contributors.

But with Sinnott it has been a lot of silence and invisibility combined with the untimely error and penalties in protection or ST.
 


People talk about Forbes > Gonzalez, Davis > JOK, etc. And we all know the bad drafting was actually a gift to get us Daniels + Peters.

But on the topic of draft blunders, missing out on the TE class that everyone knew was deeper and better than almost ever before was so fucking dumb. Even Davis Allen late in that draft is catching multiple TD’s from Stafford. We could’ve had most of these guys.

Tucker Kraft in particular wrecked our shit the other night. And was the 2nd TE the Packers drafted in 2023, because the class was so good.

But not for Ron Rivera. He had to target a particular position each round and overdraft his favorite guy that fit. To the point where Keim always knew what position it was when the round started. Didn’t matter if there was a run on the position, or if talent fell, or what. The pick was happening. (And in 2023, that pick was not gonna be a TE!)

And when the current regime cuts guys like Slye and overpays replacement like Gay it makes you wonder if they are paying attention.
