2023 NFL Playoffs Thread

Don't know why they handed off to St. Brown when Montgomery's been killing it.
 
Why is Dan Campbell against potentially going up 17 points with a 45 yard field goal attempt with seven minutes or so left in the third quarter? Why risk swinging momentum in that spot? I don't get it.
 
I'm sorry, but with 7 minutes left you attempt the FG there. Detroit's WRs have been awful the entire 2nd half.
 
Dan Campbell is a moron. Killed his team.

I sure hope Ben Johnson is smarter than that.....
 
There is a thing called aggressiveness and then there is a thing called stupidity. What is Campbell doing to this team right now?!
 
On a positive note, we'll have a new HC announced this week.
 
Great 2nd half by the 49ers. Kyle Shanahan's rep would've taken a big hit if the 49ers got beat at home with a chance to go to the Super Bowl at stake. Brock Purdy had his big boy britches on in the 2nd half.
 
You have to feel for that Lions' fanbase. Reynolds and Gibbs had some critical mistakes today, but this one falls squarely at the feet of Campbell. He single-handedly ripped this game away from his ball club.
 
When they sit down with Ben Johnson this week, one of the conditions for hire he has to agree to is leaving Dan Campbell's analytics sheet in Detroit.

Reynolds alone made enough mistakes to lose them this game.
 
Chase Young in the Super Bowl. Imagine the business opportunities.
 
I was fine with Campbell going for it the first time. His aggressiveness is what got them to where they are. And the play call worked. Goff was a little off on the throw but Reynolds should have caught it.

The second time though, he should definitely have kicked to tie the game with 7 minutes left. There is different pressure when the game is tied vs when you have the lead. Plus SF can't go up more than 1 score if they do score. But you also know that he would go for 2 if the Lions scored after being down 7. So he would have been criticized for that too.

The bottom line is he coached the way he had all year and got them to the NFC Championship. His decisions are definitely worth criticizing, but I'd rather my coach do what has worked all year than pucker up and play it safe in the playoffs to avoid criticism.
 
The last time the Lions were there was 1991.

With losses to the coaching staff and free agency being what it is, you can't ever assume you'll be right back there.
They may never get this far again.
 
I think I'd want to root for the 49ers for the Super Bowl, but part of me just really doesn't think it would be just for Chase Young to get a ring.
 
In fairness to him, he actually made a few plays yesterday. I was even waiting to see he was the one with the blown assignment on that end around TD, but it was Bosa who collapsed and left the backside wide open. The few times I heard Young’s name, he was making a play.
 
I watched Young on nearly every play. He had an impact on a couple (2) of plays but was much more of a liability than an asset for most of the game. Same Chase we witnessed with regularity this season.
