Well, first game of the 2023 NFL playoffs has been amazing so far. Two surprising playoff teams teeing off on each other. Grizzled vet vs. Wide-Eyed Rookie. You can't write this kind of script. And who will be standing when it's all over?

No idea. But I'm watching.
 
Are the Texans a team of destiny? Hard not to root for these guys!

Bobby Slowik making a serious case to be our next head coach today. It's hard to ignore.

The Texans just destroyed the Browns. The Browns defense was really good all year and they made it look easy. Pretty impressive.
 
Then again - I predicted Miami would win this convincingly - so who’s the sucka?

My brother and I were talking about this. The real home field advantage these days is weather. That showed tonight. Miami could do nothing in this cold weather. They are built for speed and that just didn’t work. KC just destroyed them tonight.
 
Requiring NFL fans to subscribe to Peacock to stream a game is ridiculous and shows just how far the league is willing to go to milk every last cent out of their customers. Not including the post-season in the NFL Sunday Ticket is equally ridiculous. That is all.

I don't know if the Chiefs played better because of the weather, or they just played better?

One thing for sure, as much as I complain about Mahomme's 'act', one QB got it done over and over again last night - and that was a defining factor in the outcome. Tua barely completed 50% of his passes, couldn't convert a 3rd down to save his life, and looked rattled all night long. The Dolphins had no chance given the way he played. Mahommes on the other hand...
 
I still cannot figure out what happened to the Browns defense, it was like they were totally disinterested.

The no call on easy PI early in the game seemingly killed the Browns offense for the rest of the game.

My opinion is that the Dolphins looked more uncomfortable playing in that weather. They just didn’t look like they wanted to be there. They had one downfield throw that worked and it was a TD. It seemed like they weren’t even trying them, which is a huge part of their offense. I’m sure the Chiefs knew that and played deep coverages, but I think the weather also made it more difficult. I thought the Chiefs offense was pretty much what it was all year, and they still struggled in the red zone like has been the case this year. But that was more than enough to win last night, which is all you need in the playoffs.
 
Not really a Cowherd fan, but he's probably 100% right here

 
I'll give him credit, I wrote a blog a few years ago called 'Bring me the head of Colin Cowherd after he dissed the Redskins on his show for the umpteenth time. He not only retweeted it so it got a gazillion views, but he messaged me a 'Nicely done - made me laugh'.

I thought that was pretty un-Cowherd of him.
