2022 Roster Updates

In terms of recent name changes in the sports that weren't related to Redskins/Indians type changes:

NBA - Hornets to Pelicans

MLB - Expos to Nationals

NHL - Whalers to Hurricanes

NHL - Nordiques to Avalanche

I think the name change can and will be made.
Didn't all of those changes accompany a move of the team to a new city?

I think changing the name of this team again, without a move, would be unprecedented.

True, but isn't Snyder an unprecedented case? :3some:

Besides, most teams don't change the name in the NFL because the league wants to have the 'Bears', 'Cardinals', 'Rams' and other histories that go back decades remain part of the fabric of the league.

Since Commanders doesn't have a history, there is no historic, merchandising or other hits the league would take in approving a change.

Not really a surprise. Have to wonder if maybe he hangs it up?

Having it happen on Saturday morning is even more concerning. It's not like something would be different now than it was Tuesday or wednesday

Unless the team wanted to create a spot on tne 53 for some reason.

Yeah - that sucks

Gerry has some talent. It will be interesting if he can earn a spot on the team moving forward as a top reserve off the bench.

We definitely need the depth at the position.

It's promising that Jamin Davis has shown marked improvement in being able to process the mental part of the game and anticipating where plays are going and what offenses are trying to do.

But that still covers up the fact we are VERY thin at LB.

Wentz has been designated to return

this is just opening the 21 day window to return. It's possible he still doesn't even see 'full practice' til the Bye week.

Sam Howell is backup for the Atlanta game and maybe beyond despite Wentz being back on the active roster.

Only bad news of the day…

He’s done for the year IMO.

Get him healed and ready to go in 2023.

No reason to risk any further injury by bringing him back now.

He was out a long time and so it figured Cole's injury was not going to let him get back on the field in 2022.

Hopefully we can get him signed to a contract for 2023 and he can come in and then prove he's in line for a longer term, richer deal with the club.
