2021 Roster Updates

oh. the ol "its not even close" reply. Well, thanks for the conversation. It was brief but I am glad we had it.

It wasn’t meant as a convo stopper or insult. I just think everything we know points to him solidly entrenched as #2.

On the Harmon release, I like that they have enough depth to cut a guy like Harmon. He may turn out to be good elsewhere, but where the Team is now, there is just no room for him.

I don’t know whether it’s a ‘mistake’ or not but I’m sure they put a lot of thought into cuts and they have earned some credibility.

Given what we've been hearing, it's not as shocking that they outright released Kelvin Harmon, but coming into this year, I wouldn't have believed a guy who was our #2 WR in 2019 would fail to make this roster despite being 100% healthy.

I guess it speaks to the talent we've added at WR. At least, I hope it does. I think he signs quickly with someone else.

Great news that Curtis Samuel is healthy now. I still hope they limit his action until the regular season.

What was the hubbub with Harmon? I would never have thought he would be cut

For the record I believe it was a mistake, he’ll light it up for his next team. Guessing Falcons maybe due to Smith drafting him

I don't. Its why I asked and mentioned it. Reyes is big, strong, hungry, and able to block as well as catch. I don't think any TE past Logan is safe at 2.

Bates is 6’ 6” and 260 lbs and has 4 years of college ball at TE under his belt. I am rooting for Reyes but I think if TE were not a position of weakness and need on this squad, he’d be hard pressed to make the team at all. I do think there’s a chance he can stick because there’s not a ton of talent there beyond Logan (best case as #3 TE, worst case PS).

None of that is a slam on Reyes. And the opinion I’m verbalizing is not a very controversial one. Doesn’t make it correct - we’ll see.

That 19 yards he has really makes him the obvious choice.

More cuts impending

Obviously not ideal for a guy needing opportunities to shine.

Harmon must have taken a dump in Ron’s car or something

I just don't think he did anything to persuade them he was one of the best 6 WRs on this team. He has yet to be picked up by another team, but hopefully will be. It's encouraging that the new coaching staff doesn't seem to care where you got drafted, what you did in the past, or how much 'potential' you have - it's about what you can bring right now.

I would like to see them move on from Cam Sims. I don't think there's any chance they will, but I feel like he's the exception to the above and I'm not sure I understand why he gets so much benefit of the doubt.

As quality of football players on the team goes up the other guys go from getting playing time to being off the team. Good thing to see since we have lacked talent for awhile, though I think Harmon will likely stick around the league somewhere as a backup.

True he hasn’t signed with anyone yet but every other team is going through cut downs as well. It’s tough for the players to get picked up right now. Harmon’s a good #3 and at worst a decent #2. Maybe his rehabbing the injury slowed him enough for the others to shine. At minimum he shoulda been released after the Sims’s imho.

Can’t keep everybody brother. I think his lack of speed probably is what got him cut but I liked Harmon.
