Please, go get some. Trying to position yourselves for another round of "I told you so's" is quite pathetic. And that's all most of the pissers in the punch bowl are doing. Whether they're honest enough to admit it, is doubtful.

You deserve no more benefit of doubt, than the team you seem to enjoy criticizing, more than cheering for.

What makes you think any of us enjoy criticizing the team? Because you don't want to hear it?

Most of the criticisms I'm seeing take the form of most criticisms from most fans when teams don't win... including ours...

which is to blame the play callers. The people that aren't actually on the field.

I see the same things being said about Gruden that I saw our own fans going after Kyle for. Both of which are widely considered in the league to be bright offensive minds.

I worry about this. The abandoning the run stuff definitely drives me crazy, but if you look at the numbers, Cincy had a decent running attack. Bernard rushed 170 times for 695 yards and 5 scores, Law-Firm rushed 220 times for 756 yards and 7 scores. Combined, that's 390 carries for 1451 yards (3.72 ypc) and 12TDs. Neither Bernard or BJGE is as good as Morris, who rushed 276 times for 1275 yards (4.6 ypc) & 7 scores (keep in mind, Helu & Young both had 3TD days, so only 7 TDs for Morris could have been much higher).

I'm just not thrilled with the idea that we kept a slew of mediocre assistants on staff, either to entice a coach to sign on here or to save a few bucks.

I'm not sure this is the case. McVay is generally regarded as a brilliant offensive mind, and Haz/Morris have both worked with Gruden before. I think they likely kept them in case Gruden said "hey, I would have taken your offer if only you'd kept Morris around, I really like working with that guy."

If Gruden were hired by the Lions people would say we screwed the pooch in not getting him but since we hired him he's now awful and will suck. For one damn day can we atleast be pleased this isn't another re-tread hire or college coach

Is he a leader? That's all I need to know. There's no mystery to football X's and O's anymore. West Coast, East Coast, Run and Gun, Spread Option. Doesn't matter. Will he command the room. Will his players lay it all on the line for him. That, IMO, is the difference between a successful HC and a failure. Schlereth just highlighted this on ESPN with a great story of Joe Gibbs. Hey, I picked us to go 10-6 in that thread. It wasn't me. But aren't you guys sick of getting mad at the nay-sayers, only to time and again see those nay-sayers be correct? At some point it ain't them that's got the problem. This team is a perennial disappointment. People who say that aren't making crap up. They aren't trying to be mean. They're simply seeing the team for what it is.

I am sure that we ALL hope this new coach and this new front office structure lifts us out of the decades of crapulence. But I totally understand why people aren't going to believe it until they see it. Not this time. I was off the bus when we hired Shanahan. It took that magical ten-win season to lure me back in, and even THEN this team found a way to rip out my heart and stomp on it.

It's gonna take a lot ... a LOT to get me back on again. Sorry.

And you guys can be as nasty as you want. Call skeptics non-fans. Question our motivation. Tell us to leave. Tell us to shut up. Whatever.

But it's not on us. You want it all to go away? This team's gotta win. No more pretty speeches. No more press conferences. No more.

Agreed. John Harbaugh had precious little experience when he was hired by the Ravens.

Gruden may be great or not, but he was as qualified as the other interviewees, although Bevell was my personal choice.

The guys that focused on the Detroit job because of Stafford and Megatron - maybe it's a good thing we didn't hire any of them - those guys may not want to do the heavy lifting that is necessary here.

No, not what I was saying.

You're criticizing people for being negative after going 10-6 and winning the division, when in reality they followed it up by going 3-13... They were right... the team wasn't as good as the rest of us thought we were going to be...

Just because someone has a negative take on things doesn't mean they're doing it to hate on the team... sometimes it's just their objective analysis.

3 playoff games, 3 close games where even the players complained about the OC forgetting to run the ball. Who passes the ball 31 times in the 4th quarter resulting in 0 points? The Bengals vs the Chargers on Sunday. What does it insinuate when Marvin Lewis says after the game that they asked Andy Dalton to do too much? Is Lewis even upset that Gruden is gone now? I doubt it.

I predict alot of Redskins fans sounding like Cowboy fans complaining about Jason Garrett blowing 2nd half leads next season.

Cincinnati Bengals did not run enough vs. San Diego Chargers - ESPN

With another hold by their defense, the Bengals could have had a potentially game-tying or game-winning drive in the closing minutes.

But that didn't happen.

What did happen was this: The Bengals got predictable. The same offensive line that entered the game wanting to be the aggressor ended up playing back on its heels, constantly trying to protect Dalton from consistent blitzes and pass rushes. Instead of pushing piles forward, the line was caught off guard as linebackers and defensive linemen pushed it back hard.

That resulted in a flustered Dalton who escaped the pocket once on a third-down scramble before fumbling as he dove for extra yards. That was the same Dalton who later threw an interception off his back foot, and one more that a linebacker read all the way."

Sounds alot like what happened to our QB in several games this year.

I acknowledged that they haven't gotten it done in the playoffs 3 straight times about 8 pages ago. They also won a ton of games and got better every year to reach the playoffs 3 straight times. It takes more than just the OC to win playoff games. I don't know what the primary reasons for not winning those games was, but we have 48 regular season games and a ton of stats that say he's a pretty damn good coach (not to mention his prior resume). And we didn't hire him as OC - he's the next head coach of the Washington Redskins. The offense won't be entirely his responsibility to begin with. Gruden has made Dalton , who really isn't a franchise QB, look like one awfully frequently. Dalton's play has also had a lot to do with playoff losses. Gruden owns some of that , but we are talking about Andy Dalton here

You don't judge assistants 100% by the team record, there are too many other variables.

I submit the Colts & Peyton Manning - they made the playoffs 7 times in Manning's first 9 seasons before he won the superbowl, posting a 3-6 playoff record before 2006. Manning didn't win his first playoff game until his 4th trip. Manning is 1000000000000000000000x the QB that Dalton is.
