You're right, but not because his teams season hasn't concluded (we're interviewing Seattle and Carolina coordinators) - it's because his team plays this weekend in the wildcard matchup. I haven't heard him 'rumored' as a target, that's my point.

3. - Jay Gruden, Bengals offensive coordinator - Most of the innovation in offensive football is going on outside the NFL in places like college, the Arena Football League and Canada. Jay Gruden, the younger brother of Jon, spent over 10 years in the AFL and was a part of six ArenaBowl champions while devising ways to create space and teaching QBs about decision-making and the importance of accuracy. He arrived in Cincinnati at the same time as Andy Dalton and the Bengals have made the postseason three consecutive times for the first time in franchise history.

The coaching side f things is utside of my knowledge base, but there are a couple of things I heard / read during the last few days.

1/. The interest in the Seattle OC is due to the development of Russell Wilson, and how Marshawn Lynch has re-ignited his career. The idea is to get RG3 and Freddy to have similar output.

2/. I watched something on the web about what Dan has done since he took over ownership, and how his involvement with the team is a sign of continual disaster. The general consensus was to either hire a coaching staff and pay them to coach the team how they deem fit, or hire and pay consultants who will act as Dan's 'middle men' and have the team play the way Dan wants. You cannot have both if you want to be successful.

Define someone worse than we fired? are you serious? Because Shanahan went 3-13 one year that discredits everything else he done in his career including winning a divisional championship here. Something that hasn't happened around here in 13 years.

Like I said to begin with, I think it was a bad decision to fire him unless you had a plan of something better. We didn't, it was just a knee jerk decision, and now we have no coach and no plan moving forward. I firmly believed we were 2 years from being where we all wanted to be and now that's more than likely all up in smoke.

First of all, it's not just about the 3-13 record this year. What's his overall record in the 4 seasons he's been here?

I think it's pretty obvious to anyone who has coached (or knows even just a little bit about the team dynamic signals given off during games and throughout the season) that Shanahan has lost control of the team. As evidenced by their play toward the end of the season, and in particular once rumors started of RG3 being benched (then him actually being benched), the players don't respect Shanahan and for the most part were simply phoning it in. We would NEVER have seen that under coaches who were well respected by the team, say, a coach like Gibbs. Once a coach has lost players' respect and hearts, he's donezo.

Finally, you have no evidence to support your assertion that this decision to relieve the coaching staff of their duties was some crazy knee-jerk reaction. You also can't claim that there wasn't a plan or some outline or framework of a plan for moving forward. None of us know one way or another what Snyder's plan was before and after the firing.

That said, I'd love to have you as a boss: after presenting you with complete crap for 3/4ths of my time working for you, you'd still keep me around and give me more chances

As much as I was wanting to keep Shanny and understood that he had one hand tied behind his back due to the cap and injury...there is no denying that the team(despite what the players said about him) flat out quit on him down the stretch.

After that happened, no way you can keep him. He had to be let go.

According to NFL Network’s Jeff Darlington, Gruden is expected to get “major consideration” from the Redskins. Gruden’s name has repeatedly been mentioned among Washington Redskins coaching rumors and is definitely on the short list of candidates to replace Mike Shanahan.

The Redskins might not be the only player for Gruden’s services after he helped coach Andy Dalton to his third straight playoff appearance. Under Gruden, Dalton has improved his yardage, completions, touchdown percentage, and passer rating in each of his first three years in the league. A former quarterback himself, Gruden’s tutelage might be just what embattled Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III needs.

true dat. but it helps to have drafted a stellar receiver. and it's the defense that is the cornerstone of the Bengals.

not saying he wouldn't be a good hire. just saying the Bengals strengths lie in the defense.

Another name has popped up: Rich Bisaccia

According to ESPN’s John Clayton, Rich Bisaccia will interview with the Washington Redskins. Last year Joe DeCamillis interviewed with the Chicago Bears and eventually joined Marc Trestman’s staff as assistant head coach/special teams coordinator.

Bisaccia put together one of the better special teams’ units in the NFL last season, but he almost never got to the Cowboys. If things had not worked out, then he would be coaching in the BCS Championship game for Auburn. He was the school’s running backs, special teams and assistant head coach for 22 days before joining the Cowboys last winter.

Bisaccia and Redskins general manager Bruce Allen worked together for years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Unfortunately, when Turner was fired last season, the entire coaching staff went, too.

“He is a tremendous leader of men and knows how to get the best out of players,” nine-time Pro Bowl safety John Lynch wrote in an email to FOXSports.com. “All you have to do is look at the success of John Harbaugh to see that guys that can lead can lead, regardless of if they have been a offensive coordinator or defensive coordinator.”

I'm a bit down on the management right now, so please excuse me, but I can't pardon Allen for stuff that's happened over the last 4.2 years.

We don't know who made the decision to stick a thumb in the eye of the League to go contrary to the NFL secret rule. I'd bet, however, that Allen was in the mix.

And, we don't know what players MS whiffed on or which players the current player personnel whiffed on. All we have is finger pointing...from both sides. And, rumors.

There's a way to end rumors...it's by telling the truth. But, DS has built a culture where the truth is suppressed by $$$.

This guy is poison...and, unfortunately, anyone associated with him is tainted. I still won't give Allen a pass.

Let's see who these guys hire...and, should he fail in four years, let's see who takes the blame.

You say there is a way to fix it and that is the truth. How do you we don't have it now? We just might? Bruce might be on the up and up but you don't know.

In the mix for decisions of the last 4 years? Sure, I buy that. But we don't know whether he agreed with them or not, we don't know what he said behind closed doors. What we know is that Shanahan had the final and most important vote. Bruce was at best an adviser with zero decision making power. In public he was a good company man, backing up the boss, which is something I respect.

Geez...Give the guy a chance.

If Shanny was GM/Coach/Personnel guy, then what the hell was Allen doing for the last 4.2 years? Do you think he advised against sticking a finger in the NFL's eye? Do you think he advised against hiring Shanny?

Folks are being pretty selective in assigning any blame of the current failure on Allen. What's he been doing for 4.2 years? He's been Vinny 2.0

Look, Allen's fingerprints are all over hiring Shanny and giving him the ridiculous contract.

That was a failure.

And, contracts are supposed to be his strong suit.

Dan Snyder is as effective an owner as Jerruh.

That's pretty pathetic.

I don't know, Allen was able to keep the team in tact for the most part with no cap room the past two seasons. Shanny says he needs a said player, and Bruce makes it happen. The problem was Shanny, short of running backs, can't evaluate talent any better then a monkey flinging shit against the wall. We could have actually wound up with even worse personal if Bruce wasn't good with contracts and such. Also, as I remember it, Shanny had given the nod to go forward with hiring Bruce for the FO, not the other way around. Who cares what we pay the coach, it has zero effect on the team. Snyder may not like loosing the money from the contracts, but it aint gonna break him or hurt the team. It's a pride and principal thing for Snyder.
