2014 Coaching Search Rumors

Yeah... I'm really on the fence here.

If they make good decisions I'll keep going. If this looks like Vinny Ceratto Does Washington Part 2, then I'm done in terms of going to games.

So far so good, I suppose. At least we're structured like a real NFL team now...

If they hire Jon Gruden I will seriously have a hard time attending another Redskins' football game.

Come on man. The faces he makes alone would make games a 'must attend'!

Any thoughts on Ken Whisenhut?

Helped Rivers return to form.
Helped develop Big Ben and resurrected Kurt Warner.
Also did what once was thought to be impossible: took the Cardinals to the SuperBowl.

Wouldn't mind him as HC.

With Cleveland cleaning house...pick up Ray Horton for DC?

Just throwing ideas out there......

Gruden already said he's not taking ANY head coaching job

Won't it be something if we ended up hiring Jay Gruden, he bings us immediate success taking us to the playoffs in his first year after we beat Dallas on the last game of the season to take the division.

Jerruh gets fed up and hires Jon Gruden to take over in Dallass.

russ grim and danny smith both expected to apply

rumors are danny smith left because he though shanahan was taking franchise in wrong direction

Shanny wanted Smith to switch from Bazooka to Big League Chew and Smith could see the writing on the wall.

I don't know how'd I'd feel about a Grimm hire, there's not a lot to base that decision on for being a head coach. I'd prefer someone with coordinator qualifications on either side of the ball with a good track record. Danny Smith, just say NO, yes our special teams where better here but a HC gig, for all things sacred............

It would be weird watching a Redskins' MNF game with Jay Gruden as coach, and Jon Gruden as ESPN analyst.
The way he gushes about just about every single NFL player, I don't know if I could handle him raving about his brother the whole game.
Then again, at 3-13, we probably won't get any MNF games next year. Maybe the following year though, and by then, maybe Jon will be coaching again.
We can be thankful for Thursday games though, because even 3-13 teams qualify for those LOL

ahemmm...I think some other ideas that merit attention from the Allen presser were skipped. Aside from the ideas T mentions...the key one I heard was:

they were going to sit down and define what this Redskin team is about - what it's long-term goals and objectives are in respect to its identity on the field, the sorts of players the team will seek, etc. some of this will be mundane "we need a fast safety" sorta stuff, but I think what he was getting at is defining what the team identity is going to be moving forward and into the distant future. he more or less stated this was the foundation upon which a new coach's "schematics" would introduce some inflections. in organizational terms I took this to be the equivalent of a Mission Statement.

another line item: Hazlett not released. some are claiming this affirms the idea that Shanahan forced the 3-4 on everyone...including Hazlett (i.r., FO doesn't hold Hazlett directly accountable).

across the board, in media, Shanahan, Allen, everyone I heard commented that the cap hits had a significant impact. again: a pox on Mara.

I like what I heard today. Allen looked and sounded decisive. there will be separation of duties. all that said, given the investment in our young QB, the key to all this IMO is bringing in someone who knows how to groom that QB investment into a huge return.

IMO the real key to all this is whether or not Snyder turns this into another Snyderatto style production.

Hopefully one of these days (preferably past tense) Snyder will fully accept what Jerry Jones never will. That he has no fkn clue how to run an NFL football team

Snyder did well hiring Shanahan. he stayed low key and has continued to do so. compared to how Zorn was hired there seems to be a lot more process and thought going into all of this.

Shanahan got a 'no meddle' contract which many of you were in favor of at the time but now you are bitching that Allen didn't step in to stop the downward spiral?

Come on folks.

For the first time YESTERDAY I heard an unequivocal statement that Allen is responsible.

Now we can evaluate him going forward.

I believe Shanahan disregarded the scouts and front office people.

How else do you draft Josh LeRibeus in Round 3 despite the fact he had only one solid college season and continued to have fitness/weight issues?

Ironic that he comes here and enters camp in Year 2 sixty pounds overweight?

It was a dog pick from the get go.

But Shanny always knows best when it comes to the OL right?
