Burner’s Burning Questions – Week One

Burner’s Burning Questions – Week One

Greetings to all and welcome to the season opening addition of our Q and A. The offseason is history and the preseason was successful. A week one victory over a division rival was a great start to the new season. What can we expect going forward? Let’s get to the questions.

1. Rex Grossman had a good first game? How often can we expect this level of play and will he take a step back or a step forward?

Answer: RG is very comfortable in this offense and it shows. This system is the best fit for his talents and abilities. Don’t expect to see a 300 yard passing game each week, but he will be successful in 2011 and has a chance at a pro bowl selection.

2. How would you rate the play of rookies Ryan Kerrigan and Chris Neild on Sunday?

Answer: Ryan Kerrigan had an up and down day, but he turned in the key play of the game on defense. He is going to be a special player. Chris Neild did an outstanding job on Sunday. Here is what I wrote about in on June 3 – the most recent edition of BBQ: “Chris Neild – He has a lot of heart and his motor never stops. It will take time, but he will work into the rotation at some point”. The first sentence turned out to be spot on. Neild has worked his way into the rotation and after one game, he has had a huge impact. Time will tell if this is a positive trend.

3. In the past, this team has been able to beat a sound opponent and lose to a weakling in the next game. Could we see a repeat this week?

Answer: Only time will tell. After the big victory on Sunday, players decided to forgo a celebratory day off and dedicate themselves to the Cardinals game. Take this as a good sign.

4. There are high hopes for Leonard Hankerson. Should we be concerned about his progress?

Answer: It is too early to judge his progress. There are many talented receivers on this roster and LH will get his chance. He needs to stay focused and dedicate himself to getting better each and every day.

5. Does Dan Snyder finally “get it”?

Answer: Yes. I am 100% fully convinced that he finally “gets it”. That is a good thing.

That is all for this week. Next Friday, we’ll be back to answer questions about week two. Have a great weekend.
