The Pet Thread

I also would like to have a Cane Corso. Also used to own a Great Dane.

Here’s my two girls. Trixie left, Zara right. Both are Labradoodles, true 50-50. Both yellow lab moms, and white and black standard poodle sires.

Like the other four dogs I’ve had, they are retriever of some sort, female, and spayed at 6 months. All of my girls have stayed like pups, energy wise, for many years. Trixie is now 9, and Zara 7.

So cool how dogs have different personalities. Trixie is the dumbest dog I’ve had, but also the sweetest, and most eager to please. She believes all humans have been put on earth to love on her. Zara, while still a good girl, and attentive, is wired for the hunt. Anything that moves, from bug to buck, she wants at. She jumped on a leaf blowing by on our morning walk today. Zara is also the most athletic dog I’ve had, and loves to swim, and catch frisbees. She can leap up, and take a disc out of my hand as I stand and hold it as high as I can, and I’m 6’ 2”.

Kind of a pet I guess since he’s been hanging around my yard banging broads. My neighbor says “they’re making funny noises, weird”. 🤦‍♂️. Um, that’s the sound of future car hood ornaments being made……

The side pic is from ~2 weeks ago. Front view from today. Looks like he’s put some swoll on getting ready for action.

Finally bit the bullet and ordered MY Christmas gift...a self-cleaning litter box!!! I just can't do all the heavy lifting anymore. (Well, I can, but I had to see my massage therapist last week because of sciatica.)
I just hope they'll use it. Free returns with Chewy if they don't, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

China

I love how Onyx has it all over him and his eyes are glazed over & dilated :ROFLMAO:
What's the new little one's name again?

So a guy walked up to my porch, picked up an item I had for sale and left the money. I was sitting with Nikki in the room right by the porch and thought I heard something. My ace German Shepherd never raised her head. I seriously think her hearing sucks, this is not the first time.

Was it someone you knew, or that you'd met around Nikki before?
From what I've read, watched, and whatnot, dogs are more geared toward a scent they don't recognize, while cats are more intuitive to sound (notice how cats' ears move toward noise and they turn their head to see what they're hearing?) Dogs do the same, but their sense of smell is 10X what cats have.

No she was clueless that anyone was even on the porch. I unloaded from a fishing trip. multiple trips to the car and back door. When I finally opened the door Nikki woke up with this "Oh you are here?" look. She just doesn't hear well I believe and she's only 3.

Is she scratching at her ears at all? Ear mites? Is she just lethargic all of a sudden?
Went through that with my two kitties...wasn't pleasant with the drops in their ears
Trying to think of anything to help

No she just had her annual check up, no behavior like that, no symptoms.

Another strange thing: she drinks a lot of water but rarely pees. I let her out in the morning and she lies on the porch. On a trip from Michigan we left in the afternoon. stopped at a few rest stops to let her out, spent the night in Toledo, stopped several times on the way home and she didn't pee once. Doc thought that was odd but since she shows no symptoms and is fine she's just a weird dog.
She also only poops in the woods that surround our yard, never in the yard. So that's a good weirdness.

Seriously not normal, I'd get a second opinion on her kidneys. I didn't pick up on it fast enough once, and it hurt.
That's also an indication of diabetes, done that too, injections and all.

Don't wanna make you paranoid or anything, but what goes in eventually comes out, and maybe a different doc could tell you what the problem is. 🤷‍♀️

I watched her today, she left the porch and peed like a normal dog. When I throw a Frisbee she always stops to pee on her first throw. It's so strange but she does pee.

I would have said that she is probably doing it stealthily and you are missing it, but your car ride story is kind of weird.
