Don't love it that combo from PFF. Green with the character concerns granted he defended it at the podium and I doubt at his size he can stop the run. Porter is freakish so am good with him. Bond coming off a meh season albiet he's super fast -- I'd much rather have a stud RB.
If we came out of the first three rounds without a DE who can stop the edge and or one of the killer DTs, no O Olineman, no RB -- that wouldn't feel like setting up for a SB season to me.
Yeah Landon as I mentioned before the combine, high on my list of possibilities. Typically in the 2nd round in mocks, he might have elevated himself to the late first.

It looks like a lot of us in the draft thread have started to feel the same way. I'm not sure I'd LOVE the move, but I could definitely get behind it. One nice thing about guys like this showing out, is that I really think there will be several solid options for us at 29. If there is no top 20 guy that dropped, I also wouldn't mind a small move back for more picks.
It really feels like the small trade back would be huge due to the extensive talent that should grade out fairly equal between 20 and 45 or more depending on the team and needs.
Yeah definitely. Getting a DE who can set the edge, so many possibilities in the late first through 2nd round including dudes without much buzz like Burch. I was back and forth some between Jackson and Sawyer as sort of early 2nd round prospects, I lean Jackson now post combine. But not married to either one. So many fish in the sea.
And considering this FO fell in love with J. Newton, wonder if they can fall for another 3 technique like Derrick Harmon, or dudes who can stuff the run like Alfred Collins, T. Williams, Grant, etc. So many places to turn on the D line.
He's lost a lot of buzz for whatever reason after the Senior Bowl but if he falls to the third, I am intrigued. I wish we had more picks.
So many possibilities for sure. That's why I have a hard time seeing AP trading our 1st rounder away, only in a small move back to gain picks. He wants to infuse youth, speed, talent, cap friendly, Commander players etc. There is no better way than to have more picks. He must be salivating about the day two players especially all these DL. There are years where pick 29 sucks, this sure isn't one of those years.
Speaking of Bech as you did, what about his team mate Savion Williams. Now there's another fully loaded/talented guy. Very fun player that could be used all over. Plus he hopefully will be available a little later on. If he drops to the end of the 3rd or the 4th, watch for his name to be called

I think we are going to go RB in the first 3 rounds. We need one. And the FA class is pretty poor.

I am not sure they go that high; I mean, it definitely could be, but the needs on the lines are significant, and I understand there is talent there. With AP's recent 49er experience, yes McCaffrey is there, but traditionally they have had success with late round RBs; the OC here is not a guy who emphasizes the run and I don't expect that to change. It would be a wasted pick, if so.
If I was betting, it would be RB late. Of course, BPA may rule the day for AP, and depending on the board and the day... the decision can be very dynamic.

Much better FA class at OL, DL and edge than RB though. I expect us to address those areas in FA.

While you are probably right about available FA Talent, I think the core philosophy for AP is to build primarily through the draft, and put the finishing touches in FA. When you make a bunch of 1-year FA contracts, you are probably hoping to chip away and replace many of those 1-years with dudes you *draft* - now you are looking at Fowler, Allen...those are some big shoes to fill, but if you make the right moves it could be a huge step forward for years at *value*. You think FA for those two + OL help and other places? I just think with the predilection towards drafting, the amount of needs on lines, and the history with RB by AP teams of the past, my money would be on late-round RB.
It's fluid, though - the other thing is, I am assuming that he won't be thrilled with the kinds of contracts most of the FAs will want. I think if a premiere LT or Myles Garrett level dude is legitimately available in FA, YES, I do think they go after that. Those are truly moving the needle significantly. I am not sure those are out there this year, and I think they are looking to get someone for at least two of *Fowler*, *Allen*, and *OL* ultimately with drafted talent.
I think they do a lot of BPA though, so... I guess it'll be really, really fluid. If they want player-X and they think he survives a few more picks, the trade down attempt, or the trade-up if they don't think he survives, etc etc. After reaching an NFCCG you may think it's a "trade up" year but the Comms had a lot of 1-year contracts, so I think this isn't a typical situation potentially. I think they look at BPA with emphasis on trade-downs for more picks and not trading up and chasing. Too many holes, but hopefully next year that will not be the case.

Some people were wondering (a week ago), will Pearce drop to the Eagles, or will the Eagles be able to swing to get him because he drops low enough to a willing partner? Then they get the dual-headcase rushers in Carter and Pearce. True Eagles by rep (and in Carter's case, proven to this point for me).

Brugler has 8 backs in his top 100, which means, given the depth of the class, a lot of good backs got pushed outside that group. For reference, he’s got 7 TEs, 9 OTs, 12 WRs, 17 DEs, 13 DTs and Corners… all needs for us.
All told, I wouldn’t put money on us landing a back in the first 3 rounds. Of course, lacking a 4th means a looong wait until our next pick in the 4th, so I expect he’s going to be trying hard to add a mid-round pick.

I think both Texas OT's go in the first round. Banks should be a lock but I'm watching Cameron Williams and Banks handle the Stewart boys with ease. And I like both a lot - just confirm my feelings about these OT's. Banks is as good as Campbell and better in some aspects.
