I was thinking about this in terms of our FA. I don't think we have as much cap space as it looks like. I would assume we are likely to resign or replace with a similarly costly guy:

Fowler
Igbinoghene

Mariota
Ertz
Lucas
Dyami Brown
Zaccheus
Noah Brown
John Bates
Trent Scott

Way
Bellore
Seibert

Fowler, Chinn, Wagner, Mariota, and Ertz alone are going to be relatively costly. Those contracts were about 30 million in aggregate in 2024 and I don't see that number going down. Then, I think we need to resign Terry. I don't see us letting him play out the last year of his contract withotu an update.

I thought we would be cutting Jon Allen to save $17 million, but he has been performing in the playoffs and now I don't know.

Essentially, I can see us signing a couple of big free agents and then going more for mid level guys like we did this year. I still think maybe we sign Higgins and Ward, resign our guys, add a couple depth pieces in FA and fill out in the draft. That would leave us enough room for one more big addition, for instance, if a Max Crosby type player were to become available prior to the trade deadline.

Little off topic, but how many of those players that signed this year ever dreamt they would be 4 quarters away from the superbowl? Pretty incredible when you think about it. Also wonder if guys like Ertz might just ride off into the sunset if we win the superbowl.

Didnt see Eckler on the list, he sign a multi year contract?
 
Just guessing here but I think those below will be the only ones signed. Ekeler is signed for next year but have to wonder if he comes back after multiple concussions. I think Wags gets a two year deal but really one year with club option on the second year. I think Chinn gets a 3 year deal. I don't have him listed because he's shined for a game or two but possibly Dynami on a 1 or 2 year deal. Trent Scott's best position is by far OG. I think he gets a 3 or 4 year deal as he can play OT in a pinch but he can handle OG well. Way has been lights out since being here. I see him on a 2 or possibly 3 year deal. Seibert gets a 3 year deal and I would think there will be a PK from the draft brought in to compete with him for the job. All speculation on my part. AP loves to build a team through the draft and look at what he did in FA. Fun times ahead.

We need a lot more to put this team over the top but the idea of adding an impact player at a premium position on another cheap rookie contract that immediately helps Jayden in expanding this offense moves the needle more than a little bit for 2025 and beyond.

I don't know how we don't resign Dante Fowler. He has strong ties to Quinn and led the team with 10.5 sacks this year. Luvu was next with 8. Armstrong is 3rd with 5. We need that production, IMHO, and Fowler is 30. He has gas in the tank.

I don't think anything is settled with him yet. And I don't think it will be settled before the draft, probably. If he is found not guilty, or gets a reduced charge and no time, I could see him actually coming here as an undrafted FA. He would be re-uniting with Jayden, now a top 5 NFL QB, on a team with super bowl aspirations.

What is going to make this whole off season interesting in the results of what we do is that, clearly, AP and DQ are more interested if you fit the 'Commander' mentality well before your skill level. Proof is on the field right now. While there are guys who are better at their position, if they don't have the right mindset to add to this team. They get passed over and we spend the money elsewhere.

What a fantastic position to be in.

I saw this on Reddit. Reed is one of the top two FA corners. Apparently he was live tweeting during the Commanders Lions game, and he sounds like a fan! He’s 28yo and had a PFF coverage grade of 70. I think he’s a slot though. Sainristil would have to stay outside:

This is our future. Top FA destination.

Maybe but one thing that we all learned about AP or it seems to be is that he will not bust the bank on a player but spend marginally on players. He brought in a ton of players last year in 2024, his first season as GM. He won't overpay for player(s). Fowler had his 2nd best season this year other than in 2019 when he had 12 sacks. Fowler is playing for that one big contract and I don't think AP is going to overpay him. AP sees most of them go, I think and brings back those who are younger not busting the bank for them and drafts the future players while picking up a compensatory pick or two. We shall see. :)
 
I think Higgins would be a perfect fit. He is injury prone though and is going to expensive not sure what other WR would be available.
 
Today, made my version of this thread a little bit harder.

We had so many players who overachieved who I would like to see back, but we saw them fail pretty badly against top talent. So, how do you assess? Is it one awful game? Do we keep them, but at a lower rung (For example, does Dyami deserve a shot to be a third wide receiver or more of a four/five?)

Yes. Make clear upgrades at positions of need and let the guys who overachieved compete for the depth spots.
 
Wagner is old. 35 going on 36. i'm hoping AP can nab Greenlaw from the niners. Willie Gay will be available and isiah simmons from NY will be available also. Edge is another and i think they'll target Demarcus Lawrence on a one year deal. i wouldn't be surprised if they extend Fowler and Chinn, which i am hoping they do. as far as running backs, this year's draft is full of good ones. they can get a good one in the 2nd day. i would hope that they keep Chris Rodriguez and finally give him a chance of making the roster full time. i think AP can get the players that he needs this offseason and fully recalibrate again for next year!
 
In terms of our own FAs

Must re-signs:
Chinn - very good player and in prime age. Need him back.
Way - Team Mascot, he stays until he retires. Oh and he's a good punter too (not that he does that much lol)

Should make a strong effort to re-sign:
Mariota - been a very good mentor, and I think having him around is crucial for keeping Jayden's head on straight for year 2 and hopefully avoiding any Sophmore slump
Dyami Brown - gotta be at the right price, but I'm kind of high on him. I don't think he's a legit #2, but I think he brings more than a #3. Solid #2.5

Should re-sign at the right price/if we think they've got more in the tank:
Bobby Wagner - he's old but still good. And a major culture setter.
Zach Ertz - same boat as Wagner
Dante Fowler Jr - Kinda wanna put him one tier up EXCEPT that he might demand a higher price. Also kind of a one dimensional pass rusher kind of guy. But 11 sacks and 44 total pressures is solid work.
Noah Igbinoghene - I feel like he's flashed some strong play at times. He's got some tools to be a solid corner and of the BSJ/Noah duo, I'd probably take Noah
Noah Brown - Kinda wanna put him up top, and if we don't bring in/draft a potential legit #2 he def moves up, but like with Dyami he's kinda a #2.5, and maybe it's unfair to Noah bc he's been injured, but (outside of the fumble), this playoff run has made me think Dyami might be the better player.

Maybe re-sign if we can't find an upgrade. JAG tier. Very replaceable.
Clelin Ferrell - He flashes some potential sometimes but I dunno, I feel like he's sorta replaceable.
C. Lucas - had good grades when in, but he's getting old. I don't know how much he's got left in the tank
M. Dieter - he's a backup. Fine but JAG.
Trent Scott - JAG
OZ - he's been fun to watch (most of the time lol), but in all honesty he's replaceable. If he's back, great, but there's also a 10 car pile-up at the 3rd/4th WR slots so someone has to be the odd man out.
Jamison Crowder - oldie but a goodie. His role is very JAGish but he should be cheap. Good 5th WR option for a spot fill here and there.
Sheldon Day - JAG interior DL
Austin Seibert - was really good, but clearly he was basically our last choice at the start of the year. There may be upgrades, but he was extremely consistent early in the year until his injury. If he's back at 100%, unless you've got a major upgrade, I keep him. Maybe compete in camp against a late round draft pick.
John Bates - I like the dude. He pops up big time randomly, but I'd like to keep him as a #3 behind a hopefully surging Sennott, but he does feel very replaceable.

BSJ - man this one stings bc he looked like a real winner previous years. But I concur with Craig and Logan, which is I'm not sure how we coach the guy. When he plays physical, even when he doesn't commit a penalty, he gets flagged. A change of scenery might be the best thing for him too. Reset himself with the refs.
Nick Bellore - 35 years old, didn't play many snaps, he's had a good career, but it's prolly time to hang it up, he's not quite Bobby Wagner.
Jeff Driskol - prolly should be one tier down so we can keep sexy hair man on the active roster
Jeremy McNichols - okay I like what he brought to the table, at times, BUT we NEED upgrades at RB, so if we replace the top talent, maybe he stays as backup, but I don't see him becoming a top 2 guy.
Zane Gonzalez - I don't have a problem with the guy, like some. He nailed those FGs today. But I think I'd prefer Seibert.
Chris Rodriguez Jr. - I like the guy, but clearly the coaches don't think he brings enough.

Get 'im outta 'ere!
Mike Davis - disappointed. Wasn't expecting him to be a #1, but also wasn't expecting him to be a penalty machine in a 3/4 role.

I'd probably resign Bates as he's fine as a blocking TE who fills multiple roles. He won't be expensive either. If Ertz wants to come back and not retire, I'd absolutely love to have him. Was an absolute warrior today. Disagree big time on Wagner. I know he had an ankle injury, but he was slow even before it. Father Time catches everyone. It is obvious we need way more speed at LB next to Luvu.
 
Nick Bellore (ST) was a First Alternate on this year’s Pro Bowl team.
