For home games,we drink whiskey with our friends at the tailgate, an occasional beer ...then Powerade Zero, then water in the stadium.
When we watch games on TV, I stick to water and maybe a celebratory whiskey if we win.

But the weird thing is over in Belgium, probably Germany too, is they still want to pour a beer from a bottle into a glass.

A few years ago, my better half had the idea to turn a seldom used room into a bar. This is the result of our obsession.
My favorite will always be bourbon, with rye a close second. I enjoy trying to make any cocktail and want to try all the alcohols

wcg Very impressive collection! Completely dwarfs my own which I'll share at another time. Im primarily a bourbon/whiskey man like several others here. Recently bought a smoker Im anxious to try on an old fashioned.
Mrs. IdahoFan and I are members of a wine club at a local winery and drink a little wine but it's primarily beer and bourbon that we like. Just ordered a kegerator yesterday actually. Had one in college years ago and finally decided to get another. Looking forward to being able to have drafts at home.
We love to travel and typically go somewhere around the globe two or more times a year. We always try to bring back beer and/or liquor to enjoy later on and share with family. Last year at this time we were on a river cruise from Budapest Hungary to Amsterdam. Amazing 3 week trip. So many amazing stops along the way - lots of wonderful beer and "other" things. Thought Id share a couple drinks we had and brought back.
First is Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier from Bamberg Germany. They call it a "smoked beer" and for good reason - it has a very distinct strong smoke flavor. It's from a very old brewery and one of only two left in the world that brew it. They say most people either love it or hate it. The ones who hate it will love it if they drink enough. We found this to be very true.
Next up is something we found in Budapest Hungary (a very underrated city BTW). It's the national drink of Hungary so it's everywhere and as it turns out if someone in Hungary offers you some unicum it is not a good idea to decline. Don't "clink" your glasses in Hungary, don't make jokes about being "hungry" in Hungary and don't turn down unicum if it's offered to you. Unicum is unique for sure. For me if I were to compare it to something else Id say Jägermeister but its not all that close to that either. Basically it's a very dark liqueur made from some 40 herbs and spices and Hungarians are very proud of it. It's considered a digestive - something several countries we've been to seem to have - never heard of a "digestive" in the US... maybe its just an excuse to drink lol.

How cool is that?
I can see me liking the smoked beer after all, I'm a huge fan of Islay whiskey, which is typically very peaty/Smokey.
I used to collect miniatures, when we lived overseas, (a looong time ago), and I actually have one of those.
If I were to venture a guess, this one is over 40 years old....
Big bourbon and beer man myself. Unfortunately, diagnosed with mild neuropathy in my legs, so have had to cut back dramatically, usually one drink a week. Planning to go overboard tonight, and have High West with a big rock after dinner, then a River Dog IPA during the game. River Dog is a local brewery, and their signature IPA is reminiscent of Bells Two Hearted.
Some other bourbon faves of mine are Elijah Craig, Angel’s Envy, and Blantons always for a special occasion.
Also, in the Oktoberfest category, I highly recommend Clawhammer from Highland brewery in Asheville.

I rarely drink beer anymore, (I stick to whiskey), but Bells Two Hearted is one of the best balanced IPA's out there and one of my favorites. I'm holding off tonight, until a little later. At home games, I sip on whiskey during the tailgate. When we watch away games, I usually stick to water. For whatever reason, watching a game at the stadium is less stressful than watching at home. Maybe it's because I'm busy cooking and goofing off at the tailgate to worry as much about the game. I'll may have pour, or two, later...depending on how the game is going....
Sounds like I need to tailgate with you sometime! I usually just attend one away game each year, since I no longer live in the area. Going to NOLA with some old friends from the DC area next month. Now that Dan is gone, may try and make it up for one at the NW next season!

It's the Unofficial ES tailgate and we've been doing this for the past 24 years, or so and all Skins/Commanders/Whatevers, are welcome. I’m one of the cooks and we always have whiskey to share.

My wife enjoys whiskey & bourbon but she likes it mixed with 7up so I buy Seagrams 7 for her. She ran out a few months ago when I wasn't around and poured herself a nice whiskey 7 using a bottle of Eagle Rare 10 year. GRRRR! lol. We have a special place for "her" cheap stuff and somehow the bottle got put back in that spot.
BTW I just noticed you are in Idaho? Where abouts?
