Mike, shun away! But it looks like JGR will likely have 2 in the top 5 at the end of the year with one of them winning it all!

Really? Could you tell us where everyone is going to finish this season? It would free up my Sundays. :)

I'll behave, and fight myself with every fiber of my being not to say it.

You're right, Ken. It will. :)

still trying to figure out how i learn of these things?

off to philly tomorrow. have no idea what will happen.

on to kentucky and michigan. jgr gonna rock and roll.

kylie will collapse like he always does. Jimmie is sitting in a good spot to pull off another amazing finish. if he gets 5 in a row is he mentioned with Sr and Petty?

Yes. Absolutely.

Gordon, and especially Johnson won their championships when what you could do to the car was drastically more restricted than when Sr and Petty ran. I don't discount what either of those guys did. Not at all. But five straight championships? That's unheard of. Ridiculous even.

The 48 guys have made their share of mistakes, and almost looked human so far this year, especially Jimmie. But to "struggle" (for them, anyway) and still be sixth is pretty damned impressive. I agree with you that they're in a good spot. And if their luck gets better, there's no reason to believe they can't do it again.

If Jimmie Johnson wins 5 in a row will he be more despised than Gordon?

I find it hard to like Jimmie Johnson, not because he drives for evil empire or wins a lot, rather cause of his name. How can a die hard Skins fan like anyone with name of Jimmy Johnson.

:claps:

Oh and Jason, I am omnipotent. And yes, you will hit the 10 minutes mile by July!:betterwink:

Oh Mike, you suck and if Jimmie Johnson pulls out 5 in a row he will be in a class by himself!

Don’t underestimate the intelligence of a NASCAR technician. These guys are very creative in exploiting gray areas. The COT may have some built in advantages, but I’d be willing to bet that NASCAR hasn’t figured out what some teams may be doing. I’m not talking about oil, but other subtle things.

I remember years ago, Junior Johnson and Waltrip, were caught on fuel mileage. They had coiled up extra fuel line between the cell and engine. The area wasn’t readily visible.
This was one of their extra fuel mileage secrets.

Can’t remember who it was, but one team filled weights on RH side with sand. Car would be at 3500 lbs. before the race. Somehow weights were rigged to slowly leak out the sand during the race, thus make car lighter and faster. Can’t remember how they were caught.

Point is these guys are very good at what they do. Don’t think for one second they aren’t bending rules. They aren’t cheating until NASCAR catches them.

Guys today have similar advantages that Earnhardt, Petty SR, Pearson, and others enjoyed.

ok, here's a little insider scoop for you...

look for ford to race the mustang brand in cup and nationwide in 2011. dodge will probably do the same with the challenger.

the toys and chevy will stay with the camry and impala. but the other two will probably force toyota and chevy to bring back a sporty looking celica (or a sporty looking camry) and the camaro.

also, the splitter is going away in 2011 to more rounded look in the front.

lots of good news.

I knew about the changes in Nationwide, but I'm glad to here about the end of the splitter.

Right now, the splitter seems to be the week link on this car. It's so tough, so durable, so good at taking a good pancaking on the right side and being just fine. It's not fair that a car can smack the wall and be just fine, but if you have to take an evasive move through the grass, the splitter gets torn up and you're done.

Kudos to NASCAR for continuing to make positive changes in this sport. I complained for years about many of their decisions, but they've been on point for some time now.

that won't make the fords any faster or win any races.

They're ruling fairly, and not slowing the Fords down anymore. It's entirely up to us to catch back up now. When NASCAR starts slowing us down again, you'll know we've done that.

The fastest car in NASCAR history was a Ford, and I don't see that being challenged anytime soon. :)

98 and 99 1-2 in final practice right now. Who would thunk that having the same generation as everyone else would make a difference?

practice. you're talking 'bout practice. i mean practice. i say again, you're talking 'bout practice. that's all it is, it's just practice.

I hope you're able to walk outside and get some fresh air soon. Being couped up all day with nothing to do but talk junk can't be healthy for an old man.

And it looks like I spoke too soon. 48, 98, 11, 24 and 29 the top five now.

junk? with age comes wisdom. with youth comes hope of ric flair adopting your sad panda.

A wise person wouldn't insult Ric Flair, even by proxy.

ric flair is a nascar fan. his favorite all-time racer is ricky rudd. no worries here - you know, it must be that wisdom thing.

carl got him a second tonight. but look who came in first.

You know that race cars don't have horns, right? Doesn't stop you from tooting your own though, does it?
