Random Commanders Thoughts

Hmph...

This I don't get.
We won the division, earning a home playoff game last year. Is that not already competitive ? Do people believe it was a fluke ?
Our roster is already better than it was when it won the division, so how can we be so many players away from "competitive" ?
If you substitute a more extreme term like "Super Bowl Champs", or "Dynasty", it would make sense to be so many players away from that. But simply "competitive" ? Makes me wonder what the definition of "competitive" is here ??
And 10 red chips ? That's equal to practically an entire offense or entire defense. Probably would make sense, if we're talking Special Teams. That unit could definitely use nearly 10 "sub-units"

Do you think any of the other NFC East teams will get better ? We had an easy division last year to play against. No, I'm not saying last season was a fluke, but the stars did align to some degree to help us win the division. I expect Dallas to be better when Romo is playing, and if the Giants get their shit together a bit, it will be that much tougher. We looked like shit when we played elite teams last season, so I understand where McLovin is coming from.

The overall quality, or lack thereof, last year of players in the Redskins' secondary all but guaranteed Washington was not going to beat elite teams. Elite teams usually have elite quarterbacks and so when facing Brady, Newton or Rodgers the Redskins at the end of 60 minutes were not that close.

So, it's no surprise the team went after the secondary and coverage players in the draft (Fuller and Cravens) and free agency (Norman, Toler, Bruton). Moving Hall to safety was another way of trying to get better play-makers on the field in the back seven.

I liked Max Kellerman as a boxing analyst - few better. But what street cred does this guy have when it comes to NFL football?

Kellerman is attempting to be Skip Bayless instead of Max Kellerman. Never a winning strategy.

And I'm certain that Snyder is crushed that Kellerman is disappointed in him.

Yeah, it definitely had a 'Colin Cowherd' feel to it, full of righteous indignation and moral superiority :)

9 out of 10 are okay with it but he knows something we don't?

If they're at practice all day they need to send Cooley over to their table for friendly debate. Smiff would love that!

Not sure how it will play out but this team is close -- that's both on the coaching staff and the players. Hard to remember a tighter group.

What happens when you're from a household as a child where that is considered a slur? Let me think about it...

Oh wait, that doesn't happen. Never mind.

What problem?

I look at last year as a complete over-achievement of a year, and wildly successful considering beginning of the year expectations.

I'm not looking at this team with problems heading into the season. And I say that without making any comparison to the other NFC east teams who I can say have "problems".

What problem?

We couldn't run the ball with any semblance of consistency.

We had a great year (for us) last year, and that was ... great. But that doesn't mean there weren't holes. The running game was definitely a hole last year. Hopefully Jones improves this year and that's one less thing to worry about.

OK I gotcha. I've said on record that we will have a very good running game. Well, OK, compared to what?? Last year I guess, and I still don't see the running game as a strength this year despite my optimism.

I also temper my enthusiasm by remembering we are not legit until we win a playoff game. Not even a contender, but I still am excited about what could happen. We've had some good late season runs before and regardless of the final result, I will be happy if we end on another good run.

Am I missing something? I heard on the Ticket in Dallas coming home from work that Mclou broke his hand punching through wall upon hearing a player was injured???? whats up with this?

This team needs nary a setback on the Road to Glory (TM). The Gallete situation was sad. Doctson better rub some dirt on it and get out there

On the other hand, reading that Keith Marshall has looked good in camp...so we got that going for us,which is nice.

This season has to be the hardest schedule I have personally seen us have to compete with. I keep wanting to look up predictions of the season, but it is all bad news with each talking head says. Numbers like 4 and 12, 6 and 10, 2 and 14, and the most generous one has us 8 and 8. I dont want to buy into the panic, but we have to play a lot of winning teams this year.

Pre Season Strength of schedule based on 2015 outcomes per

2016 NFL strength of schedule: 49ers, Falcons at No. 1, Packers at No. 32 - CBSSports.com

17. Washington Redskins: 126-130, .492

This puts our SoS smack dab in the middle of the NFL pack but it looks to be a lot easier for the rest of our division.

As we all know, last years outcomes might indicate tendencies but rarely does it hold true to form, too many variables.

If the 2015 NFL season is any indication,..............
