What's for Dinner?

We bought an eighth of a local cow in December and have been enjoying one pound of beef each week since. Tonight I made hamburgers with some pimenton, cheddar and honey. Really, really good burgers. Also tried a potato galette, which turned out even better than expected.

Pics or didn't happen.

Actually that sounds good as hell Goal.

Tailgate schmailgate. We should have an annual cookout weekend. I volunteer Boone's house, hear it's the bees knees.

So glad to see people getting back to this. My grandmother would get a whole side and split it with us...would last just fine in the deep freeze. I have a friend who has been buying a whole hog for a couple years now and has given me some of the sausage...man it tastes so much better than store bought.

Same is true with CSA's. We've got a ton of them here locally in the Valley and love eating fresh, local food. My wife literally can't look at a cucumber in the grocery store anymore.

We have a good friend who will be hooking us up with some hog this spring. I'm envisioning home-cured, home-smoked bacon. Already drooling.

So, what's everyone doing for Super Bowl Sunday?

I'll be in Charlotte at my brother's for the game. Started pulled pork last night. Been on the smoker for 13 hours, should be ready in the next couple of hours and will have it all ready for tomorrow along with some homemade slaw and sauce (I like the sweeter Western Carolina style vs. traditional Eastern style).

What are the rest of you bastards doing?

Make sure you do the simmer for 45-60 minutes in water, white wine, garlic cloves, peppercorns, and 3 or 4 halved lemon thing first.

Going shopping today for tomorrow' menu. I am sure we will do (at a minimum) wings, pasta salad, guacamole, potato salad, and a cheesecake. Will look at maybe grilling some shrimp or easy to eat seafood. Maybe I will try to do some crab cake sliders.

This poor sea creature failed to heed the warning : "Fear The Spear".
After falling victim to a Spear Fisherman, he later ended up on my Fire Pit Grill, and tastily flavored, based upon the BOP (Boone Octopus Protocol)
