Why would going after Linderbaum have in any way changed?
1) we didn’t get him.
2) you tell Linderbaum that you will be making way for him to start if he signs.
3) you now have either Allegretti or Biadasz as depth
4) I don’t know that going after Linderbaum was the right move to begin with...
Fact: we don’t know if he’d be injured in Washington.
Fact: regardless of Allegretti, we released our depth.
“The way you talk about him”… what? That I talk about him as a competent center? Cmon, man. This is wild.
I don’t understand how you are still defending this non sense.
This OL is why I was freaking out about Tunsil being signed. Of course, we signed him and got hurt.
But then I was also worried about center and guard. So… ya. Anyways. We should fix those spots
Injuries are always going to happen.
Nick Allegretti has played 7 seasons in the NFL. He’s only started in more than 9 once. He’s not used to having this kind of work load. And the one season he started all 17 he was a guard, not a center.
This is where I make a smart ass comment about how...
Why do you say it wasn’t great? I mean they aren’t hall of famers or even roster locks… but sometimes you are so overly positive and then sometimes you add qualifiers to things and I have a hard time understanding.
I am by no means trying to dog you. I’m genuinely curious.
I think they looked...
I really, really believe our RB room should be White, Bill, Allen and Henry.
However… the issue is Ford, McNichols bring a ton of flexibility and skillset. So the young guys have to show their versatility to make that a thing.
But I’d keep those four at RB.
Receivers: Terry, Stef, Antonio...
-Hartman stunk
-Henry has some of the best vision as a runner on the entire roster.
-Allen is a short yardage monster
-Hartman stunk
-Letting our twos get abused on the first drive was a weird choice
-we need to see our starter reps ramp over the next two games and into the season
-Styles...
If it’s in the cards, it’s stupid. Up until we got Diggs we all realized how bad that room was. And now we have Diggs and we (fans, team, whoever) can’t imagine parting with these all-pros
If I answered this I’d be doing exactly what I didn’t want to do…
To be fair: no. Not yet. I think he’s got better vision than Bill and he’s tougher as a runner. But Bill is still more of a home run threat and looks like he’s improved as a pass catcher and blocker.
But as a runner, with vision...
Just a minor thought I hadn’t really given too much of a glance towards but I’m kinda curious now…
I’m not sure this team is cash strapped at all. And if they are, it’s non sense.
Look at the Sixers roster. Meanwhile, we’re cutting a capable center for virtually no reason.
Getting a bitter...
Beyond the fact most of our players aren’t good enough for a night off… we have two new coordinators… why not give them a chance to have success on a drive in their first game? I don’t know.
I don’t like judging a coach based on a single game.
But these backups are barely a speed bump.
Made...
Tough to judge much based on the fact it’s 1s vs. 2s. That said… good confidence boost for Miami and a great lesson for Washington.
Bill, Conerly among others not playing is egregious.
I’d have played most of the starters for a series tonight.
But… these guys make the big bucks
We’re not getting much out of this. Miami’s starters are getting confidence and work and our backups are getting worked.
I really hope they know what they are doing with sitting our ones.
I feel like we didn’t learn from last year.
That said… I’ll see how this plays out. I like the idea of ramping up reps and not ramping down. So let’s see what they do the next two weeks
He doesn’t want LSU to use him “NIL” at all now. He apparently feels disrespected that they are letting another player wear #5 but they don’t let anyone wear Burrow’s number.
Last I checked, Burrow led them to a natty, a top 3 offense and a perfect season. Jayden didn’t do any of that.
While I...
Receivers I have expected. 1) Miami is really bad. 2) Diggs changed that entire room.
Tight ends… ehhhhh… we’ll see. I think the room is deep in some regards but shallow in others. Not sure there’s a ton of weapons or blockers but there’s a lot of tweeters who are okay at both. Bates is a...
So… the interior OL was ass, the RBs were not good but gave a ton of effort, the defense was solid, the corners did well enough?
Sounds almost like exactly what I figured would happen.
I think it’s extremely safe to bet that Diggs will have more receptions than McLaurin. No, that doesn’t mean I think he’s better… it’s just the types of routes I expect and how quickly I expect Diggs to be open.
That said, they are absolutely going to run stuff to get Terry open underneath and...
I’m kind of on an island but I’m not all that worried about corner. I mean, we aren’t in great shape there at all… but Douglas and Robertson are capable. Amos being banged up kills our depth and Sainristil has been struggling, so we could use veteran depth there.
If I’m worried about corner...
Losing Tunsil isn’t negative. It’s catastrophic. It is going to hurt our already depth lacking offensive line.
This is the second or third biggest problem we could have had as far as an injury goes.
It’s gigantic.
Like you said, it’s not something that is completely damning, of course. Even...
I’d like to see what Conerly offers at LT.
He won’t be there permanently until Tunsil’s contract expires, but if he can play there we know we have our LT after Tunsil leaves.
My plan would be to get Conerly LT reps in the first preseason game and see how he looks from a comfort standpoint. If...
None of this matters.
The only question is: what line configuration protects Jayden the best and gives Washington the best chance to win?
The left to right and right to left stuff is something only the coaches can know.
They’ll need to try multiple configurations. Likely behind closed doors...
Going back to a point I made months ago on Blind Pig… if Sainristil is struggling at corner, why not move him to safety? He can still play corner in an emergency but our post safety is a gaping hole. Why not throw an athletic body at it and see if it sticks?
It may not. But if he truly may not...
Shouldn’t change much as far as development goes. More technique work on both sides (something they should do anyways). But understanding the scheme from both tackle spots can actually help with development as well.
We drafted him as a first rounder. We should see if the future at LT is on the...
Just because we have Tunsil doesn’t mean we shouldn’t test what we have now. If the plan is to play Conerly at RT regardless during the season, that works. It doesn’t hurt to try him there for a preseason game for a drive or two to see what happens in a “just in case” scenario.
And yes, some...
If Tunsil is out I’d move Conerly over there right now, even if it’s a short time. See if he can play there. Coleman should be the RT. Issues at center and guard need to be sorted, but Coleman at RT is a quality answer.
You do this thing sometimes where you argue to argue.
I don’t understand means that - I don’t understand. You think you know and understand and that’s perfectly okay - I don’t buy it. I think the team is flat out wrong for releasing him, regardless of “why”. If they think Allegretti is better -...
I’m not sure I agree here overall. But… I think Allegretti is serviceable. And we can be okay with him. But… we cut a player that is at minimum also serviceable, signed immediately elsewhere and left ourselves with very little depth in a big year. Not sure I’ll ever understand that move. Even IF...
Now the focus shifts to OL. We have semi solutions at corner. We have a solution at receiver who raises the level.
Safety and offensive line are now the major areas we need to look at.
Center and LG are major questions and post safety is a MAJOR concern.
Everyone has holes. Safety is one that...
Antonio Williams is a talented receiver and I am glad we have him.
For him to come in and be the second best receiver is such an indictment of this team’s receiver group. Not saying he isn’t or won’t be great. But it doesn’t even sound like it’s close.
And then the third best seems to be a...
