After missing on FA and early round WR's, they appeared to have lucked out with 3rd rounder WIlliams and then really late signing Diggs. That solidifies that position for his year (only this year).
At Center KDawg is right and all know it. They effed up the timing of the Biadasz release and...
I think they were expecting the backup G's could handle things. Wylie and Paul are weaknesses if they can't be covered by decent players on both sides of them. Can a healthy Allegretti give them that for one of them to be able to be effective. Right now that is where DQ is hanging is hat. I...
I am still thrilled with the Diggs pickup. It made our WR group a strength instead of a question mark
It looks like we may need to keep QB3 on the 53 based on the Rifles play last night. I was initially figuring they could release him then put him on the PS. Not sure I'd be willing to risk...
We need Good-Jones to be replaced by a competent NFL vet. He and Hartman do not belong on an NFL roster.
It looked like they used Gublin more at G than C so they don't want him at C at this point.
Oh no, I have good expectations for the D.
I also see a healthy Allegretti in the middle being able to bring some consistency to the OL. If that occurs or Gublin or a guy not yet on our roster can do that, our O has a real chance.
My comment was only - based on the way they looked last night...
It didn't evolve. There were numerous issues that caused that, not just general game planning and play calling. They didn't attack FA well leaving much to be desired and obvious holes on both sides of the ball. Then there were all the injuries on both sides of the ball. And then there was the...
For sure. The only difference is we didn't have anyone on the roster that was a recent draftee and we could not afford to draft a Center early because the roster had too many other holes. There were capable and more experienced Centers than Gubin that they could have drafted earlier and...
It was nice to hear Bram and Keim talk about how Lane the WR has really improved.
They both again talked up Yankoff as a receiver as well. It's hard to see Chig and Yankoff on the 53 because they are both really just big receivers
I wanted MacDonald over Johnson or DQ. In fairness, it is hard to blame Mac going to Seattle regardless of the money based on the inherited roster. Rivera left ours in old, slow and in shambles
Oh good point, they do have a surplus - McGovern, Cushenberry, Van Pran and a dude named Fina. I imagine Baltimore will be calling them with Pinters injury
We knew we needed a new LG going into the offseason with Paul. We let him go then brought in back. Wo knows, things could have been ok if Tunsil and Allegretti were ealthy
Yeah it is rough that he has no snaps with Jayden or making the line calls so the line as a group can be on the same page. Also it is rough on the other centers because they have no or almost no NFL experience with calls. Working with him would have really helped them
I swear I've posted this a bunch. lol
Trying to sell us on Allegretti would not have been horrible if they went out and got someone to compete with him. They did not other than a 6th rounders...that never cut the mustard
Looks like another team will be looking for help at Center
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reports that Ravens C Danny Pinter suffered a torn patellar tendon on Wednesday.
This is terribly unfortunate. We expect him to be placed on injured reserve soon, and we do not expect him to return until...
Amazingly our 6th rounders Gulbin could be our starting C.
Bringing Paul back isn't looking like that great of an idea. He isn't that good without Tunsil next to him, go figure
You are giving Wylie more credit than he deserves at OT. He has not been very good on the outside. He always was decent at G so hearing he has been struggling there is scary because our depth no longer looks very good.
Center has been in turmoil since the surprising release of Biadasz.
We...
Might have missed this but I didn't see this posted. Hopefully it is a nothing burger 🤞
Commanders RB Rachaad White (undisclosed) did not practice on Wednesday.
ESPN’s John Keim expects to hear an update on White tomorrow morning. Backup RB Jeremy McNichols is dealing with a quad injury and RB...
My gut is many of the injuries are ones that keep players out of commission for a few days or weeks. So may occurring within the first few days really sucks, especially when its players like kind of your only Center, your top tier LT and top corner in a questionable backfield. All that along...
I know this isn't the place but...I didn't like it when I heard his name at pick 36 in 2024. I know many had him ranked higher but I didn't. Plus he was drafted with an injury. So to me, he has always been a bit of a disappointment that hoped would prove worthy and make me change my mind on him.
Regarding the OL depth, to add to my prior post, if Wylie isn't looking good at G then that really blows. We all know he isn't very reliable on the outside but thought he could still hold his own at least to some degree on the inside. Then again, if he is playing next to Gublin or Bad -Jones...
Chris Paul has received a lot of meh reviews. I'm sure that's why they let him test the FA waters. It sounded like Coleman was beating him out.
It sure feels like an OL with a healthy Tunsil and Allegretti would have been pretty solid with Coleman at LG.
What a shame Newton can't get it...
One player I will be keeping an eye on this year is LSU's Safety Dashawn Spears. 6'3" 208 ran a 4.43. Really good run defender, tackler and a rangy good coverage guy. He has the potential to play deep high. He just has not had enough reps (playtime) . I am hoping he never leaves the field this...
The Amos injury is huge and must be taken into account. That said, Amik did pause but sounded positive at least about them.
Sadly, there is no way anyone is or should feel real comfortable with the D backfield
I agree with you, releasing early to allow them a shot with another team is the decent thing to do.
My only question would be when is too early to release them. What if the player that appears to have beat them out injures themselves in the final days or weeks before the season kicks off? Then...
I never understood Kix. Always thought they tasted like cardboard.
As a youngster I liked Cocoa Puffs and Sugar Smacks.
in college I loved regular Cheerios with chocolate milk
Now days my go to's are probably Kelloggs Raisin Bran, Rice Chex and still like Cheerio's with regular milk (usually)
It's safe to say that he was overpaid ($114 mil much guaranteed for 4 years) and it is not starting off on the right track
Instead we have a one year $12 mil contract with Diggs
Imagine if we had signed him to that fat contract.
The Athletic’s James Boyd reports Colts WR Alec Pierce received a second PRP injection in his injured ankle.
Pierce remains well behind schedule following offseason surgery on his ankle, with it now coming to light that the veteran receiver...
Along with the Tunsil loss, the other real shame is that it sounded like Coleman was doing very well and winning the LG battle. It would have been sweet to see the full compliment of planned starters in action with him at LG.
They have brought a few other G's and C's in to compete, will be...
Yes he is probably our best corner. His absence is especially felt when you add in that Quan appears to be floundering and Mikey is struggling in the backfield.
Yup, scary start:
Commanders LT Laremy Tunsil (shoulder/neck) will undergo testing for injury.
The news was first reported by Mike Garafolo of NFL Network. Tunsil will be evaluated and tested for injury, but Garafolo says he’s not sensing huge panic about the injury. Still, Garafolo also said...
I'd imagine if either T starters were out for a period of time, Coleman would take over. In the meantime, it appears they want him focused on the LG battle
Tunsil and Amos out....Yuck!
Jerome Ford fumble...he hasn't done much positive so far in camp. He may be RB 5 right now
Love getting the good reports on Chenal. What a LB crew we have. ANd how about Chaisson continuing to shine!
Totally am with you on Allegretti not being a great starting G. I am holding my breath on I'm as a C physivcally, not sure he has the base, the temperament, the movement skills but he is supposed to be smart and and really good at the line calls. So fingers crossed.
We keep getting mixed reviews of Mikey. Every time we get something good, the next thing isn't inspiring.
I love me some Omenihu, he is better than Newton!
We have a healthy Magee that needs to really show up. This scheme should suit him better. It wasn't that long ago we were thinking he was...
Allegretti 35 out of 35? oofff. That doesn't exactly give confidence now does it. I am going to give him the chance he deserves based on the confidence Blough and some of the players have voiced.
Tunsil has been working extra with Conerly and I imagine with Paul since he kind of vouched for him...
Coleman has been moved all around. He proved himself a fine T and a very reliable swing T. I look forward to seeing him battle for the LG spot but also know he could be called to duty at either T spot with any injury there. I am not a big fan of now trying to squeeze him into the C spot. It...
I was just reenterd the room with DQ's presser on TV. I thought we mentioned BA's being brought along slowly but nice now that he is in. I was like, WHAT? BA? THey signed Aiyuk?
Thankfully, it was DA and was speaking of Dorrance Armsrongs return...Phew 💦
I can kind of understand concern with the TE group but man, I feel like we have a really strong LB group. The whole front 7 is an incredibly talented group
Stevens > Moody to date! Hope that keeps up!
Bill catching everything in sight is amazing. Hoping he learns the pass pro then he may be able to really move to the next level!
I was thinking the front 7 on the D which is crazy to think it is possible. Same goes for the WR's. There will be teams that need improvement at the lower half of their WR groups and we have some guys that fit that need.
Yeah DIggs thrives everywhere. Jayden could easily start looking straight to him and Terry over the TE's when in the red zone. They can get open anyplace and have a great fight for the ball
Agree with all regarding C. THe reason they were a least somewhat comfortable with Allegretti was his prior experiences and how he, while playing G, was making all the line calls last year when Biadasz was out. Perhaps he should have while Biadasz was in too if Tyler was that poor at it. I am...
This team sure feels like the most talented team we have fielded in years. That is especially the case knowing a few injured players are expected back healthy shortly.
The talent level is really going to bleed through with all the competition at so many positions.
I can see other teams...
Great job guys!
Enjoyed the C discussions especially. It has been an issue since the dreadful day they surprise released Allegretti.
Regarding Gulbin, I think if he has the opportunity to play and work with Allegretti on line calls, communications etc...he should be able to start at some...
Yup, been saying that while watching so many of them signed to only one year stints. I was hoping for a couple more of the FA contracts to have been for 2 years or at least have have an optional second year
We need more continuity and going hand in hand with really good drafts
Jayden is going to love throwing to this years technical route runners with Terry, Diggs and Williams (and Jefferson if he makes the cut but is on the outside looking in right now)
Newton has a lot of competition and many of those guys have received positive mentions by the media, coaches and players
A Luke breakout would be huge, but that is definitely a wait and see. Similar with Sinnott who really needs a big year as well.
There were a few of us that did not like that...
The Diggs signing should have occurred much sooner. The only excuse AP could have that not happening would be Diggs telling him that he wanted to wait but AP should have pushed the signing sooner
Sainristill and Newton struggling really sucks and they need to step it up. Right now it's not a good look for AP's first draft.
We really need a healthy Amos to show up big, this will be pivotal
The WR competition just ignited!
It would be cool to hear teams contacting AP about Luke, Burks, Jefferson or Dyami. Burks contract might make him less intriguing than the others. He will think, gee, why didn't I sign Diggs sooner.
I want to see Kaytron as our short yardage and goal line beast...at least to start!
He and Bill are balling
ANd I thought Magee's super power was speed and coverage
That's also where Terry talked up Antonio excelling in, the slot and underneath. I can see Diggs and Terry getting moveall around with this offense. It is now going to be more fun to watch.
Now for that C position. we need Allegretti healthy and think about another backup besides Good Jones
Yeah DQ has been talking up Lane as the punt returner all along.
When talking about kick returners he stated they were giving a bunch of guys shots and that a number of them have had success at it in the past. he did mention White and Williams along with Dyami as a few of those players. Also...
Yeah that seems to have really been coming out over the past 24-48 hours which is great and what so many of us hoped to see!
I mean, we can only hope it's not a sign that the others aren't doing that well making I'm just look like the best of rest after Terry
In the pre-practice presser DQ really talked up Dyami's return to the team this year. Said he is getting a lot of work moving around in the X with Terry. He said he has carry over by working similar concepts in Jacksonville last year which helps.
Also really talked up Reaves as a teammate and...
I am imagining that once Allegretti returns to the lineup, the OL will look significantly better with him making all the calls as well as consistent snaps and exchanges..
Agree, hate that they believe Good-Jones would be a good backups. They botched both the Biadasz release and bringing in competition for Allegretti
Gulbin could become that good backups and eventual starter but in a perfect world he probably needs a year and especially at full camp under his belt
I hadn't heard that Mariota was strugglling, hate seeing this.
It comes at little shock that FS may be an issue and that Quan is struggling. I have held that position as a concern going into the draft
Live that Jonathan Joseph looks good in dripping back
Jayden working with lots of motions...
Yeah Luke had a great day yesterday putting a much better light. Hopefully he can keep up this momentum.
My point was if the decision is to keep 4 TE's then that probably means 6 not 7 WR's. Add in Diggs lurking to occupy a spot and it could lead to those other receivers fighting for only one...
I sure hope we don't find ourselves in a spot where this looks intriguing to AP:
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports free agent TE Zach Ertz (ACL) is “cleared for all football activities.”
Ertz tore his ACL in Week 14 last season with the Commanders. Schefter reports the 35-year-old is ready for...
Nice post on moody Skinfanjon . Those stats are telling. Sadly his below average numbers are better than we have had from most of our other recent kickers. Go Stevens!
It is not surprising the IOL is not looking great. Allegretti is really the only C who has a feel for line calls Jayden or...
There had been conversation of the team going with 7 WR's calling Lane a STer.
At the moment, TE Yankoff appears to be having a very good camp. Could they go 4 TE's knowing Yankoff and Chig are somewhat of bigger WR's and shrink the WR group? I don't see Bates and Sinnott going anywhere as they...
Welp, feels like they have DB concerns and they are reaching everywhere looking for help. The more the merry in the competition battles and he has experience in the system.
Many good things in these two lines.
Daniels working well with progressions and check downs along with getting rid of it well timing wise.
Also Bill as a receiver. I love the idea of getting him the ball in the open field. Just need him to hold onto the ball and have his pass pro assignments...
I'm with you. There were a few of us that were very harsh about the decision to release him the way they did. They should have had his replacement already signed prior to making Biadasz available for trade. I know they said they offered him up to other teams but that whole sequence of events has...
The thing is Bates and SInnott are really the only two TE's who can block effectively.
Cutting the Greek Rifle would be a really bad look. They identified early and fell in love with him. I'm guessing he will be on the PS. If not they will need to find another and get over the Hartman affair...
Yeah the WR group has not sounded like anything great so far other than a few big plays here or there other than WIlliams, Jefferson and a little from Dyami.
Lane and Luke are not receiving many accolades which is really disheartening. I sure hope Luke starts to step it up. We can't afford to...
Good list, consistent with what I've heard. A couple other items that stuck out to me:
Nick Cross has been really good
Van Jefferson has been impressive
And to reiterate your comments, Good-Jones isn't cutting it
Yup, it was inevitable players would go down peeking interest in Diggs elsewhere. San Fran and KC have already potentially experienced this with ore to come.
Also, Deebo has signed and Hopkins has taken a coaching job reducing the available market
Maybe they are thinking Keenan Allen but he...
Yeah the Burks injury which may not be anything, almost feels inevitable based on his history. It's kind of like Noah Brown.
This is also a good spot to note that many of us have a lot of hopes riding on Antonio Williams success. A reminder, he has also had an injury history from college so...
It's probably me but I am confused by your post.
DId Bates get injured?
Where you say Peers would have more pressure to sign Diggs than Burks, do mean more pressure to sign Diggs than keep Burks?
Clowns or not, they did hit on a number of pretty straight forward issues and positives about the team. Quite frankly, adding Diggs is indeed a Captain Obvious move.
That is good news if the protection can hold up. While scrambling is one of his top qualities, it also gets him banged up. So it is both his superpower and his kryptonite
More time learning to read defenses will give him the ability to make quicker decisions and hopefully learn to trust...
