Official Game Thread - Redskins @ Panthers

Pressure hasn't been as much as Rex has faced in most games all season. beck's first throw over 15 yards is picked. We need a QB!!

A timing pass the receiver runs the wrong rout. Maybe you can make that call after a game and a quarter. I'll give it a few games before I hang Beck out to dry.

Beck had two others that easily could've and probably should've been picked, on top of the INT in garbage time and the fumble. He played fine for stretches. If we were solid in other phases of the game, he'd probably be okay. It's not really fair to judge him given his experience level, lack of starting experience, and the generally poor play around him today.

the thing that bothered me about Beck...which the announcers pointed out...is that he was basically picking his receivers before the snap. Rex also does this from time to time.

eh....the remaining question: do we trust this FO enough that they can improve this team within the next year or so?

the defense obviously has a long ways to go. the offense is horrible. how many more years is this gonna take? I don't mind the wait if the frigging FO/ownership were honest about it and stated up front "this is gonna take a while but we have a plan". I keep thinking that they always fall for the "we can do it now" strategy and continually short change the franchise.

losing to the Panthers...oi.

year...after year...after year: samo. samo.

I think we all get the same 'is it ever going to end' feeling after losses like the past 2 weeks. It's fine to say 'this is a process', 'it takes time to rebuild', etc...and that may ring true rationally - but I don't see a lot of evidence we're really growing week to week. In fact, it's quite the reverse - we are regressing from a strong opening game performance to something that looks very familiar.

I don't really need the coaches to explain it to me. We're not very good and we aren't going to win many more games this year. Whether or not next year or the year after are better and we really start making progress, I have no idea.

Um. Where will you find someone to contest that we need a QB? LOL @ U.

We have Beck and we have Gross Man. I'd be more concerned about our defense at this point. Couple weeks ago everybody said all the QB had to do is not turn the ball over... Ha.

We're still rebuilding. The reason other teams do it faster is because of depth. We have 0 depth.
Safety? 0
Corner? 0
OL? 0
QB? Nada
DL? Eh
Linebacker? Could we survive losing anyone for the season except for maybe Rocky?
WR? LOL

Depth makes teams. We have a long friggin way to go. Good day friends. I'm gonna try to enjoy the rest of my Sunday.

I was thinking by next year we would have a real chance at the playoffs, but it's looking more and more like a 5 yr rebuild.

Boone, Hightower was chewing up the panther defense in the first half and we held them to a few field goals. The only piece missing was the quarterback. Of course in the second half the defense fell apart so we can put thhe loss on them too.

yea...it's so darn frustrating. there's nothing to look forward to in these games.

I think most are just being realistic Pete. We're getting worse, not better, players are dropping like flies to injury, and the tough part of our schedule is just starting. I don't think this team has good things ahead of it in 2011.

I hear ya.... the injuries are killing us, but the D really let us down today. As for your prior post, I will give him a chance to fail. I know he's not going to be a world beater, but he's essentially a rookie, and 5 quarters just isn't enough of a showing for me.

I still don't think we will be as bad as most are saying... 1 more win, I don't see it that way.

I am not really down on Beck - the thing is, the NFL is so competitive today, you almost HAVE to have a stud at QB. I just don't see him ever being that guy.

And honestly - in my book, 1-2 more wins or 3-4 more wins, it really doesn't matter if we're zero threat to make the playoffs.

Wow, Shanahan looks like he's aged 10 years in the post game interview.

The only hope I have regarding our defense is that I don't think we match up well against Vick and Cam. I'm hoping against the less mobile types (Fitzpatrick comes to mind), we will play a little better.

The offense was hurt a LOT by Santana's injury. Not to make excuses, but Beck looked to have a nice rapport with Tana before the injury. Still not thrilled that Kyle pretty much exclusively ran the ball one drive and then got cute after that. As some said in the chat, I don't like the feeling that Kyle thinks he is the smartest guy out there and wants to prove it.

I think we're as physically talented as a lot of teams in the league.

Apparently though, what we do better than anybody in football, is find the absolute DUMBEST football players in the world.

Beck did better than Rex, easily.

Defense was abysmal.

HC, OC, DC, and ST coaches are vastly overrated.

All that's left for me this season is hoping that Beck improves. If he ends up playing like he did today or worse, i don't see any hopes for next year either.:(

Who cares if Beck improves? He's 30. He's not going to be The Guy.

I'm just saying if he can be manageable we may have enough players around him for us to have a playoff chance.

I don't know how many more seasons i can take where we're out of the playoff hunt before mid-season.

I don't think we'll have to try too hard in the "suck" department

I see 6-7 wins. I'm not down on the team long term but we'll need a few moregood drafts like this past one and we HAVE to get us a prospect at QB. Having two 30 year old journeymen is a terrible plan.

I just want him to be a solid stop gap while we build. We need O-line, and dear lord, we need better corners. Hall consistently stinks it up, and Wilson hasn't impressed me thus far.

We could loose ever game on the remaining schedule, and we'd still have to mortgage the mortgage to get him.

Then all we'll hear is why we ignored the O-line and secondary.

Sheesh. Anyone else watching Ponder looking good against the Pack? Sure would be nice if we had a youngin' on the roster we could look to the future hopefully with.
