2nd-Annual BGO Ballers Fantasy Football League

LJ,

You certainly have the sympathies of me and the BGO community in general. While I personally have never experienced what you are dealing with I have helped a couple of pretty good friends through it so know it is no easy situation. I am truly sorry you are having to deal with this.

I am also sorry that we in the Fantasy league may have in anyway contributed to your current difficulties. Please accept my apologies on behalf of the league.

Having said that, may I suggest that perhaps a PM to the league commish or to a BGO staff member to let us know about your personal situation might have been a better way to handle this. I have to admit that I personally read both your post here and on the league site about offering up players in what amounted to a fire sale as a team owner giving up on the season because they were frustrated over losing and I was less than thrilled with what that implied. Knowing the fullness of the situation certainly casts your actions in a different light but working in the vacuum that we were in, there really wasn't any other way to interpret what you meant.

Again, please accept our condolences on the loss of your friend.

Neo- when my world is upside down , the last thing I felt like doing was crying to strangers about it. Again, if someone had an issue with my post or the way I was managing my team- then they should have come to me.
As far as managing my FF team, I can't access the site from work, and only have a short amount of time at home in the evenings. And with everything going on, FF was at the bottom of my priority list. I tried to update the other night, make changes etc, yet some players I wanted were on waivers. So I dropped few to make room and had the intention of adding new ones this morning. When I logged on, that's when I found out I had been kicked out. Then I came to BGO to see what was up- and what a nice surprise of such comments- thanks.

Its not mine, or anyone's responsibility to post daily updates on what we are going to do, or our intentions of managing our teams. I didn't feel the need to post a play by play of what I was doing.
So again, screw all you guys who decided that acting like a bunch of douche bags, finding it necessary to act this way toward me when you had no ****ing clue what I'm going through.

I do want to thank a couple of the guys in the league, who actually sent me PM's last week and this week, asking questions regarding my team, because rather than jump to conclusions and be dick- they came to me and gave me the chance to explain what was going on.

See, that is the difference between a decent person and a dickhole.

PS, I could maybe, kind of understand someone being upset at what they felt was an unfair trade if this league was for money. but its Free for ****s sake. ITS ****ING FREE! so you guys act like this when absolutely nothing is on the line, except maybe to brag about who got lucky picking the right players that got them enough points to win. **** you.

Hey L J,
I think Neo nailed it. First of all, even if the situation had been as it appeared, and you had just gotten frustrated over the season and were bailing (which your post implied), it isn't that big of a deal. I think we were mostly just 'giving you a hard time' - obviously not knowing what was going on.

You know that no one here would wish anything but good for you, and obviously are so sorry about your friend and what you are going through. I hope that you will stick around, accept our apologies and understand ALL comments (joking or otherwise) were only in the context of a competitive FF league - we have a great community here, which you are part of, and we wouldn't knowingly be cruel, insensitive, or non-supportive.

I am thinking good thoughts for you and the family/loved ones of your friend.

A perfect example of why nobody should crack jokes at someone's expense when they don't know them or have any idea of what they're going through. I bet there's quite a few of you feeling about 2 inches tall right about now huh?

He certainly did. The response to it was uncalled for too. Regardless of the situation.

As my brother was fond of saying, "Life's a tough town."

I told Lanky at the beginning of the FF league I had some things going on in my life, and that is partly why I missed the draft, and why I hadn't been participating much. I didn't feel the need to go into details.

And the response was absolutely called for. You all assumed you knew the story, and felt the need to act like bullies in this thread. But you didn't have a damn clue what I have been going through. And it all could have been avoided if someone, especially Lanky, would have just asked me. Instead, you have to be complete douches. Did it make you feel more like a man huh? Did it Make you feel really cool, feel good about yourself?

you both are dicks. **** you.

Cry me a river. You act like you're the only person that ever lost someone.

Grow up, child.

No, not even a little.

Nice, Ax. Does it make you feel like more of a man to be a jerk? Sheesh. I think thhe fact that she lost someone close three weeks ago entitles her to some leniency. Your responses say much more about you than her, fwiw.

LJ, I personally feel terrible, and can not apologize enough for how things happened. I read your thread in the 5:00 Club and feel horrible for you. Neo did a great job of explaining how (hopefully) most of us feel, so I won't be repetitive, but I am sincerely sorry and will be praying for you.

One note, don't misplace your anger at Lanky, he is trying to appease a lot of people in this league and made some judgment calls that in hindsight probably weren't the best decisions; most of us probably would done something similar.

...besides which, Lanky's going down hard today, moving him to 4-3. How's that gonna taste, Lanky?

:)

you are a pathetic excuse for human being.
Thanks. It's a gift.

The fact of the matter is, you, being in an emotional state due to the tragic death of a friend, chose to release some of those emotions, in a total overreaction to a perceived attack that didn't exist to the extent you claimed it did. One posted picture was the harshest ridicule, and it was kid glove ribbing, at worst.

Everybody here is sympathetic to your situation now. And, for myself, though I won't go into detail, I have an all too clear idea of what you're going through, as I've dealt with suicide and it's lasting affects numerous times in my life. Trust me, if you live long enough, life can, and will, deal you some ****ty cards on occasion.

Remember this, it was not your fault. You did not fail your friend.

And for the folks here, without the knowledge of what was happening, did nothing wrong. Certainly nothing that warranted being called douchbags and dicks, IMHO.

Was this one? Are you serious right now? Of all the crazy things said in this thread, I was the one that was level headed from the start and actually went and talked to her and didn't jump on her ass way before this all got blown out of proportion, and MY comment is the one you single out? I wish we were in the asylum right now. I'm just gonna leave it at that.

And Ax, can't you just let something go for once? We know it's your shtick, but sometimes it's more than just a little uncalled for.

We're done talking about this in this thread. Anymore discussion will be met with timeouts.

(Boone sorry just catching up and reading this now) I sent Lori an apology by PM, and I'm sorry to everyone for my part in this. In my eyes, a part of FF is the lighthearted busting of chops. Sorry in this case it coincided with real world troubles. Fact is if I don't post a topical little cartoon image, this goes on without drama. My bad.

So back to Fantasy Football.. Can you believe that the key to my season might actually lie in the hands of this fruitcake? :help:
