The reasoning is faulty for 2012:

1. The Redskins even at 6-10 would not be in the top 1-3 picks to select Luck.

2. If Luck is that highly coveted you probably aren't going to get the holder of the #1 pick to deal for anything the Redskins can afford. Remember this is still a team trying to fill in starting jobs and acquiring adequate depth. I don't see a lot of ammo to use in a trade. An additional #1 pick in 2013 won't be enough.

Not true. A team with an established QB could get the #1 overall and be looking to trade.

Who had the #1 pick this year? Carolina which needed a qb. The year before? The Rams which needed a qb.

Because qb is such an important position and the presence of a capable passer translates into some wins you might not normally have, it is rare when a team gets the #1 overall pick and doesn't need any help at qb.

This is where we agree and a reason why a different QB could fall to us at 8-14 where I see us actually falling in the 2012 draft order.

Buffalo is going to be worse than us. Book it, they need a QB and Luck goes to them. They should be the worst team in football next year.

Carolina just drafted QB in the last 2 drafts, do they pursue Luck? I don't think so.

Arizona is going to be in the top 10. They have Kolb now.

Cincinnati has Dalton.

Dallas might be picking in the Top 10, they need a QB worth breaking the bank for? No. But you never know with Jerruh.

Cleveland? They may be in the Luck sweepstakes and will probably be picking in the top 10 but I see them in the Landry or Barkley sweepstakes.

Seattle? I see them as a top 10 pick next year or close to it. They will be making a move for a QB, more than likely Carroll could be interested in Barkley, but who knows. Their draft and FA pickups don't seem to show any loyalty to his former players.

San Fran? probably about the same position as us between 8-14 and you know Harbaugh would do something drastic to get his man.

Denver? Who knows how that QB situation will work out.

Oakland? Is Luck fast enough in the 40?

You are correct to suggest we will be in a position to get a QB next year, we just don't have to be in the top 3 or even the top 8 to get them. Luck ends up in Buffalo. Landry on the other hand... Who will be willing to pay for his services?

Cincinatti could easily end up with the #1 pick this year, and they just drafted Dalton. I think they'll give him more than one year.

I think Chicago is going to be really bad this year - and have an outside shot at the #1 overall pick. Maybe they take a QB in the first round, but I highly doubt it - they've already invested 2 in Jay Cutler.

Tennessee could easily get the #1 overall, and just took Jake Locker 8th overall. Doubt they draft two QBs in a row.

Jacksonville, ditto except with Gabbert.

The teams to look out for getting number one overall: Seattle, Oakland, Cleveland & Miami. Anyone else would likely trade out of the #1 spot. Not to mention, if the Skins are targeting Landry Jones as BB suggests, they would only have to go to #2 overall.

I think Buffalo is gonna finish in the bottom 10, but not the worst team in football. They will be picking around 8-10. Fitzgerald (EDIT: Fitzpatrick, whoops) really turned it on last year, and has some weapons. They will beat some people.

I will be surprised of Buffalo wins more than 2 games this year. Chan Gailey is gone after this season. Old man will not be able to hold on to the ownership, they move to another city and take their 1st pick in the draft with them.

Luck is the 1st pick of the new Los Angeles _______.

What makes you so confident the Redskins will win 6 games, but so sure the Bills will only win 2? Is that homerism, I smell? ;)

Edwards was never on my list. He has a poor work ethic and has bounced a bit for a player taken that high.

Once again the continuing elitist d1ck joke of a "blog" crashed my browser. No, I'm not bitter at all that they booted me from that shti hole... lmao.

How can they block you from the entire blog?

Also, hold the phone on ratification of the new CBA - our old friend Ryan Clark calls it a "deal breaker" for Goodell to have total control over player discipline and fines.

Oops someone has already reported that one.

Just curious, but why do you feel this way? I think they have a legitimate shot at the playoffs.

I wouldn't count teams such as the Bengals and 49ers that took Dalton and Kapernick in the second out of the QB race. If Bengals have the 1st pick in the draft, do you really think they are going skip on Luck because of Dalton.

Also, it will cost more to move up in the draft now. The rookie pay scale has made these guys affordable. They are worth the gamble. It is going to be difficult to move up IMO.

The Bears were not that good last year; it was quite a fluke that they made it as far as they did. They had a very soft schedule, and they were gifted two wins over the Lions by the refs. Their OL gave up 52 sacks in the regular season. 52! Because of the two wins against Detroit, they snuck into the 2 seed. They've done nothing to address the OL except let Olin Kreutz go.

Their first game in the playoffs was the 7-9 Seahawks! A team that beat them in the regular season! Their next game was the Packers, which predictably beat them easily. 21-14 looked a lot closer than it really was.

They named an offensive line coach their new defensive coordinator. The defense was pretty stout last year, but the unit is getting older. Can Peppers & Urlacher last a full season? I highly doubt it, with their injury history.

I think you know better, maybe...

Looking at our schedule, I look at games against beatable teams. I don't see us winning more than 6, but there are 5-7 teams that we can beat.

The Bills on the other hand are in a much tougher division and have a more difficult schedule. Not to mention, they suck! I mean come one, Chan Gailey?
