Confirmed Signings

AdamSchefter-

Cam Newton's contract is worth $56 million less in overall money and $28 million less in guaranteed money than Sam Bradford's deal.

This thread appears to be the reigning relies leader for BGO. At least in the SOW forum.

Going to work. Goodnight.

Nothing much has happened I see.

Coach, in his presser, said that this is the right way to build a team - on the DL and the OL. My guess is that we have a ways to go before we close the door on FA. Sounds like a focus on the OL over the next few days. Maybe a surprise or two as well.

I was knocked off the air for a bit. Wicked tstorm came through and there is some damage outside. Nothing serious though.

Need to eat some supper. Be back in about thirty minutes. Let me give everyone a topic to talk about. Andy Reid - Walrus or Beluga Whale? Discuss.

You missed the completely obvious......

I'll give you a hint.... babee ba da babee ba da.... that's ball folks King of Philly

BB, who is left on the OLine that we might be targeting? I hear what Shanny is saying, but doesn't seem to me like we Have hit OLine that hard.

Looks kind of small to be Reid, but the face is an uncanny resemblance.

Not sure. One good thing about this FO - they keep things a secret and do good things when you least expect it. Stay tuned is the best advice.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Twelve years later and someone finally says it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice to see, eh?

Here is something new...

Coach Shanahan spent the night at RP last night on a roll-up bed that costs $200. "I charged it to Dan" he said.

I agree with Shanahan but we do in fact still need OL.

And I hope this means more than bringing Brown back because we gave up a pick for him.

I still don't think Brown is a natural fit for this offense at RT, and coming off 2 years of injury problems at 30 he really is a potential risk player to sign.

I like Ryan Harris a little better than Brown.

Aso's deal was kind of a let down. I was expecting at least $15 mil/year for him. :)

We still have beaucoup cap room-more surprises lie in wait.

Got here at 5:45 this morning and there was nothing new.

I will be here all day, but some of my attention will be focused on other things. Another day of FA and another day at BGO. Football is back and we are having fun. :)

Here is a VERY interesting piece from PFT.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/07/30/per-team-spending-minimum-doesnt-apply-until-2013/

This year and next, there is no minimum spending for teams - that rule begins to take effect in 2013. Bruce Allen, being the master that he is with the cap, is going to have a lot of flexibility over the next two years. I'm pretty sure that we can roll over any "incentives to be earned" deals into the next season - our GM is the absolute best at structuring these kind of contracts.

What does it mean? Well, our cap situation is rock solid and with $0.00 in dead money committed to 2012, the Redskins will have many more options than most teams. With a substantial number of draft picks (and growing) over the next couple of seasons, the 'Skins are starting to build a very firm foundation that will be more than just an occasional paloff or Super Bowl run over a few years. It is being built for MANY years of success.

In other words, this FO is committed for more than just a few years. It is committed for the long haul and the long haul looks to be competitive each and every season. My friends, this team is now doing it the right way and then some. Enjoy it. :)

Be sure to read the post above this one. :)

First news of the day. The Redskins will not be pursuing Aubrayo Franklin or Cullen Jenkins.

Practice began at 8:30am and players are not in pads. Just going through basic skills and formations.

also.....so UFAs can't practice until the 4th. that leaves what..a week...before preseason? has Shanahan hinted at how in the world he is going to assess who comes/stays in that short a time frame?
