2011 NBA Thread

Dwight Howard just killed Durant, literally.

The best block I have ever seen in my life. It will be the top play on espn.

Yeah, that was a hell of a block. Thunder are off tonight, though Dwight is killing them. Must give you hope, eh?

We'll still beat you in a seven game series, if you make it that far. :)

Ainge isn't done yet and OKC has to wait to see if Perkins can get healthy...he just sprained the mcl in the other knee.

A while ago I needed change for a 5. I asked Danny Ainge, and he traded me my $5 bill for his 10 singles. Clearly nothing has changed.

:) Ainge looks like Cerrato.

He looks incredible. I just hope he ends up staying.

I really thought Boston looked great before that crazy trade. Who is going to stop Dwight now? Shaq?

Now it's possible that his knees are shot. And this is going to look better next year for the Celts. But Dwight is just going to dominate the paint if they meet in the playoffs.

Miami still concerns me though.

Orlando doesn't have enough depth to beat the Celts. I just don't see it. Your best bet is a first round matchup for the C's against the Knicks where Melo and Amare just go nuts. The Bulls could also take them in the second round. You match up decently against either of those teams, and fairly well against the Heat. Boston is not a good matchup for you.

Depth is one thing that the Magic have plenty of. It's the starters I have been concerned about.

I would have agreed with you about the outcome of the Boston matchup until about a month ago. But Dwight just looks unstoppable. And after that Ainge debacle, I definitely don't agree now. Only time will tell.

Dwight with a 40 spot tonight. 6 blocks, 2 steals and about 500 rebounds.

He looks like Shaq at his peak right now. And he didn't look this good a month ago.

Dwight's not gonna average 40 in the playoffs though. Who else is gonna score? I still think you need one more premier scorer. Turkoglu isn't bad, but I don't see him as a great second option. He would be a very good third option at this point, but I don't think you can keep up with Boston's options. Assuming Howard eliminates Baby and Shaq, that's their fifth option anyway, no biggie. You don't have anyone to stop the other four consistently, and not enough scoring to overcome their stars.

I'm not crazy about the Perkins trade, but not for the Orlando series. I think it will hurt more against the Bulls and Knicks.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. I could see him averaging 35 a night against a Perkins-less Celtics team. He put up 22 on Perkins in the first half alone in their last game. Here are his point totals in the last 6 games:

40 tonight
31 last game
32 the game before
31 against the Lakers
20
30

As for other scorers, they can spread it around. Turk, Jameer, Redick, Bass, Anderson....they are competent--although they have looked lethargic lately.

And now with the Celts absolutely having to double Dwight all game, a shooter will be open. We'll just have to see if they make those shots.

Says the man whose GM traded away Turkeyglue only to have to trade back for him and acquired a known gimp,Arenas, and let two known defenders,Barnes and Pietrus go in favor of a guy in Richardson who couldn't defend if his life depended on it.

We won't double team Dwight. He can have his 40.

One man can't beat a team.

There's a guy in the NBA that favors Cerrato. He lives in Orlando.

You'll be cursing him when Dwight leaves town in a few months. :)

Diesel, Doc made a big shift, and doubled Dwight in the second half of the last game. After he abused Perkins for 22 in the first half, and scratched his eye.

And you will now be forced to double him in the future. No one person on that squad can stop him. So who is going to take the extra fouls, and hit the bench? KG?

And the Magic are more than capable of playing D. Just ask Kevin Durant and Westbrook. The league's second most potent scoring duo got smothered last night by the Magic's D. Blake Griffin agrees.

As far as the Turk trade goes, every GM has hits and misses. That was a huge miss. So was trading away Rashard for an embarrassing Gilbert. Another terrible move.

And just like those were terrible moves, letting Perkins go was another huge mistake for the playoffs this year.:)

If Dwight gets his ring this year, he'll stay in Orlando to torment the East for a long time to come.

Get your popcorn ready.

And for those that missed it, or espn's top play of the day:

Dwight Howard takes the MVP from Kevin Durant.

Off to see Orlando/Charlotte live tonight. Club level seats at center court, but higher up than I like to be. But very cheap--only $50 a piece. Too cheap to pass up.

Hey Carmelo, keep that **** up north.

Jameeeeeeeeer Nelsonnnnnnnnn!

And a special shout out to Dwight, with another 30 spot, 16 rebounds, and 5 blocks.

Who's the MVP again?

For once, I'll agree with you..it is Dwight.

Take him off that team and I doubt you win 35 games.

Which means LeBron should at least be considered. Your theoretical model is actually happening with him and the Cavs are brutal.

Just got a call that I'm getting three tickets to tonight's game against Orlando from the NBA.

What a nice surprise. :)

From the NBA? Incredible. You do work for them? Do tell.

My wife's company is an NBA partner. We usually get two to three games a year. She put in for Lakers and Bulls. Tonight's tickets were a last minute surprise.

We ended up with two seats located between the center court line and the top of the key in row 21, plus a VIP parking pass and premium club privileges. Should be sweet.

I've been waiting for superman. So far I've only seen Clark Kent.
