I think Newton will be gone before us. I really think Buffalo or Cincinnati takes him. Which should help him become an Icon and Entertainer.

Teams have 60 interviews at the combine. They can use these any way they like. I assume the Cowboys have no interest in Newton and are using their meeting as a diversion or they are doing their due dilligence. I think he is gone before the Cowboys or they are using him as a trade back ploy.

I really do not see us taking a WR. I think that is a luxury we cannot afford at the moment. Maybe my opinions are different, but I think WR is the second least valuable postion we need to fill on offense. The first being RB.

I think we look at WR and RB late in the draft, if at all.

Although I can contradict myself by saying we are in a position to take the best player available. If they deem that AJ Green is the best, then so be it. I just want to see some fat boys or a really athletic LB. This draft is deep at the LB position.

If Newton is not gone by the time Cincy picks, I can see him maybe falling to us. But, I do not think we take him. I predict that a team will trade with the Cowboys to take that spot prior to us. Maybe a Minn, MIA, or JAC if he is available that late.

Some team is going to look at his athleticness (is that a word??? I don't think so ) and take him early. He will be a top five pick. In fact, I think Buffalo takes him. Gailey has been saying he would be a great 'Wildcat' QB. Sounds like a smoke screen to me.

Teams will fear that we will take him, but I do not believe it so. It will be beneficial for the boys however.

I would not be thrilled with that draft, BB. Having said that, the looming work stoppage really throws a wrench in things. We have no idea how free agency will play out. I would guess these guys are thinking we will gra more help along the lines through FA, but that is a dangerous assumption. As others have said, WR is a luxury in the draft. I am not that enamored to pass up some line help.

I understand about the luxury pick with a WR at 10. Two schools of thought here. One, Green might be the best player on our board. So do we take him or use him as leverage to trade down. I know it is common sense but I will say it anyway, to trade down we have to have someone willing to trade up. Green could be that incentive for some team. Another thought is bust potential. I think Green is the real deal, but think about how many first round WRs have busted in the last few years. More have busted than have been a success.

The only other issue is if we don't get a WR high in the draft we have to go after one in free agency. Let's face facts, we could lose Santana Moss! If that happens we will have the worse receiving core in the NFL. Of course we rank near to the top even with Moss.

Julio Jones looks great. He just ran a 4.39 forty.

I seriously doubt he is there at 10, but if he is, there is a very strong case to take him.

Really, every position on our team is open. I would not be surprised by any pick or even a trade down. If they think that Julio Jones is the best value with the tenth pick, so be it. The only thing that our team does not need is another TE (of course, not with the 10th pick).

I agree. Because we have so many needs, basically anyone at 10 should work well for us.

And although I desperately want a lineman, if Jones truly is another Brandon Marshall/Calvin Johnson caliber type of player at the 10 spot--that's an absolute steal.

Agreed. The problem is knowing. How do we know Jones is that good? Our history with scouting WR ain't that great. I don't want to waste the 10th pick on anything at all uncertain.

Many things stand out about him Goaldeje, but maybe the biggest that jumps out to me is where he comes from--the SEC. I'm a big believer that the best WRs and CBs come from the deep south. The true burners. And unlike the guys we drafted, Kelly and Thomas, you know that Jones truly earned his stats. He wasn't racking up numbers against slower, inferior corners. He was racking them up against many defensive backs that will play in the NFL.

Like Calvin Johnson, it's the level of competition, and being so dominant against it, that removes any uncertainty.

Edit: He just jumped 11'3 in the broad jump....the all-time record is 11'5. He ran a 4.39 forty. This guy is the star of the combine. St. Louis is praying they can get him just after us to team up with Bradford. There is no way that Shanahan lets this guy get past us. But after this workout, he may jump way up on the boards.

Yeah, I hear you. Kelly destroyed Texas twice during his time at OU. Level of competition is not the end all and be all. If they know he is Calvin Johnson, I suppose I can trust them. This time. But I would feel a lot better with a lineman.

I have always felt that way, but he can not stay healthy. Give him one more chance this off season and then cut him if he gets injured.
