2026 Commanders Training Camp

Listening to Standig, Keim and JP, it certainly seems like he is the smoothest guy out there and "looks the part." I don't know who I heard say that. I didn't hear anybody come right out and say that he was the second best WR in camp. I think JP used the word "slippery" a bunch.

It was either Finlay or Mitch ranked them in their latest podcast, I believe it was Finlay in that same podcast you listened to. Put Antonio 2nd and Dyami 3rd.

Somebody said something like it was more of a collision and it's possible Bill just wasn't expecting it at all. It is something to monitor, though. He can't put the ball on the ground.

Don't recall who said what, but one said he was holding it in one hand, making it easier for Saintristil to punch it out

I missed that entirely. I was cleaning the kitchen while listening to that pod, so maybe I was focusing on a particularly tough spot of grease...

I'll add one observation. Terry has taken Jaden Bradley under his wing as an undrafted guy, and by all accounts, he's doing well. Terry keeps working with him after practice. He has a LONG LONG way to go to make the 53, because say what you want about the top end of the WR room, it is deep. He'd have to dislodge at least 2, if not all 3 of Van Jefferson, Burks and DBrown (with the assumption Terry, Williams, McCaffery and Lane are locks). And they really might sign Diggs.

So that's a long road to hoe to get on to the roster, but multiple pods have commented on it, Terry has spoken at length about working with him, and how impressed he is. So I'm filing that in the back of my mind to see if maybe they have a gem they can develop over time.

Seems like every camp has that young UDFA WR to watch out for -- forgetting which local had some fun with the idea -- I think it was Standig but I might be forgetting who goes they are the guy into the season starts and then they disappear. Having said they are do for some UDFA Wr to finally excel so you never know.

But yeah I've noticed the Bradley notices.

It's definitely a deep WR room, but it's also one of the strangest I've seen in all my years following football. I think it's at the heart of why fans are so divided on this group.

In my opinion, no team in the NFL has a better collection of No. 4 receivers than Washington. No one. At the same time, outside of maybe Miami, I don't think any contender has a weaker No. 2 receiver. Then there's the No. 3 spot, which is one of the biggest wild cards in the league. On top of that, your No. 1 receiver is getting older, and history tells us injuries become more common and decline eventually comes for every receiver.

Take Bram's argument, for example. He adds up what all of these receivers caught last season—or what he projects they'll catch—and says, "This guy's good for 20 catches, this one 30, this one 15." Then he combines those totals and concludes that, collectively, they equal a legitimate No. 2 receiver.

On the surface, that sounds logical, but it doesn't hold up.

Every NFL team gets production from its fourth, fifth, and even sixth receivers. Those players aren't invisible. They're all making catches too. You can't just take the production of your backup receivers, lump it together, and call it the equivalent of having a quality No. 2. Of course if you add your 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th WR you will have combined at a minimum the production of a typical 2 on really any team.

The real question isn't whether the depth pieces can combine for 60 or 70 catches. The question is whether you have someone defenses actually have to game-plan for as a true second receiving threat. To me, that's the issue—and it's why I think this receiver room is both unusually deep and unusually vulnerable at the same time.

Antonio Williams is a talented receiver and I am glad we have him.

For him to come in and be the second best receiver is such an indictment of this team’s receiver group. Not saying he isn’t or won’t be great. But it doesn’t even sound like it’s close.

And then the third best seems to be a cluster of opinions. Van Jefferson, Dyami, Burks early on…

That tells me that after Antonio Williams were in trouble.

And most concerning is a lack of Lane and McCaffrey being touted.

Center is still a dumpster fire. I don’t think we’ll ever really know why Biadasz was let go like he was. Assignments, communication, yada, yada. It may be true. But that doesn’t mean it was a good reason to let go of your only viable starting center. Even if Allegretti works, we are looking at him and a slow footed center (who I like as a developmental prospect for sure).

Running back… still concerned. Bill needs to make sure he holds onto the ball. I am intrigued by his burst and I hope that translates. It does sound like he has improved so he could blossom at some point for sure. Not sure that time is now.

I got a ticket from someone on twitter for season ticket member day on Wednesday. One question though. Does anyone know if that includes seating in the VIP area, or will i have to sit in the bleachers instead?
Bleachers, unless the ticket states "VIP" on it. The bleachers in the end-zone are really nice and in the shade. Did you get parking? That's a bigger deal than VIP seating.

Yeah, I think what's different about Bradley is it's Terry who's making the comments. He spent a lot of time in one of his pressers talking about him. That is pretty unusual. It's normally that some random guy (and we have seen many) who goes out and catches 5 balls in a preseason game, and all of a sudden he's the next Jerry Rice.

The fact it's Terry putting in the work with him at mini-camps, he traveled with them to wherever they were, and then he is talking him up with makes it more remarkable Which is why I remarked on it.

As far as the room in general, it is what it is. My point is just that in that particular room, for an UDFA to make the 53, that would be REALLY tough.

Contrast that to the CB room, where they might have to jump one guy. Or maybe even nobody, because the only 4 locks are Amos, Sainristil, Douglas and Robertson. So, an UDFA competing for the 5th spot, they really don't have to unseat anybody. Or possibly even the RB room, where the only true locks are Bill and White, an UDFA could make hay there. But you'd have to probably beat out 3 vets for the last spot in the WR room which makes it much harder just from a numbers perspective.

Yeah I am concerned about the Wrs lol as I've made abudantly clear. Have heard some good stuff about Luke. But like my previous post, I think this team has the best collection of #4 in the NFL. We likely don't have a #2. And banking on a rookie to be the #3 is taking chances.

I wouldn't give a rats ass if this was a rebuilding team. But this is a team that almost went all the way just two years ago and the clock is ticking with a QB on a rookie contract -- which is something clearly Denver, Chicago, NE understand -- doesn't feel this team gets it the same way. But if they sign Diggs all is forgiven from me.

I don't think there's enough information to figure that out from what you posted. Recommend you put this in the random thought thread or another non-Training Camp related thread. If you provide more information (where the ticket is, what game, etc.) somebody might be able to help you.
I'm sure that it's camp related because they're asking about season ticket holder day in the TC thread. The team holds a few of them every year for season ticket holders....

I think Lane is looked at mostly as a punt returner and that's his job, and he kindof takes the Viggers roster spot of "you're on the team for ST only." If they can get something out of him at WR, that's kindof a bonus. He was a 4th round pick. If he turns into a lock starter on ST and rotational backup, that's fine for his draft position.

McCaffery is troubling. What's interesting is I haven't really heard much about him one way or the other.

The other guys are the other guys and many words have been spoken about them.

Center, Allegretti I think will prove to be an upgrade. Keim even mentioned that he's learned more over the past few months and now he understands more what they did. I think they're going to sign another guy. The question is just when. Keim thinks after roster cuts. But they worked out 2-3 centers yesterday, so clearly they're not happy with Good-Jones.

I misread. My apologies.

Gordon's been pumping iron. Maybe he could solve the WR2 spot.... And then cook up a perfect Beef Wellington.

His restaurants indeed do a mean Beef Wellington, I have had it. I'd trust him at Z over Dyami.

Plan to hit one of his places for the London game.

This foreseeable Center issue has me fuming all over again about the Biadasz situation. Just so cheap and reckless to cut a functional NFL veteran just because he’s not ideal, when you don’t have a stud to replace him, and it doesn’t even change your cap situation much. Just frees up a few million in cash for your ownership group. Pretty disgusting if this ends up derailing the new offense.

And the immediate trickledown effect is that oh look, once again Coleman gets shafted and can’t just focus on becoming a good NFL player at one position, he has to face the possibility of getting shuffled around and work on extraneous Center shit like snapping when he’s trying to win a starting Guard job. Just irritating and again, avoidable

The WRs reports are really mixed so not sure what to make of it. More negative than positive for the first two days, more positive than negative yesterday albiet Lake Lewis a reporter who covered camp thought the WRs were meh yesterday, along with David Harrison.

I've heard some good things about Van Jefferson but then some don't highlight him at all and question whether he makes the team -- Finlay said Dyami has been the third best WR, after Antonio. But lol, I am sure someone else would have a different order. I've heard consenus good things about Antonio. Mostly good about Luke. If Lane is standing out, I haven't notice anyone talk about it.

In the defense of everyone, hard to tell from a few practices. In the old days when I went to Richmond, I'd need about 6 practices to get a feel.
Yeah the WR group has not sounded like anything great so far other than a few big plays here or there other than WIlliams, Jefferson and a little from Dyami.

Lane and Luke are not receiving many accolades which is really disheartening. I sure hope Luke starts to step it up. We can't afford to carry to WR's that are mainly just returners.

Haven't heard a ton about Cross as to camp, but I do know the locals are high on him as I am. I know they use Cross among others on blitz packages.

I have heard he and Rasul Douglas's names in positive light more than any other DB's. Both have been covering a lot of ground and playing well
Sounds like the blitz packages are going to be exotic and relentless -- Flores style.
Music to my ears SIP!

There was a lot of love for Colson Yankoff also. He apparently made the catch of practice one day. My impression from listening to all of the pods is Sinnott is doing ok, but Yankoff is flashing more. Which would be an interesting development if Yankoff beat out Sinnott for playing time.
The thing is Bates and SInnott are really the only two TE's who can block effectively.
I think there are 2 draft picks who might not make the roster: Gulbin (C) and Athan Kaliakmanis (QB). Gulbin might just because he's a developmental center. But if there's a numbers game and Allagretti's injury is more serious, and they need to sign a vet center, that could get tough.

If that were to come to pass, that's a bad look for Peters. Cutting a 7th round QB and getting him to the PS, eh, that's not that big a deal. If they get squeezed on Gulbin, that's not great.
Cutting the Greek Rifle would be a really bad look. They identified early and fell in love with him. I'm guessing he will be on the PS. If not they will need to find another and get over the Hartman affair.

Gublin has the smarts and characteristics to make the team as the backup C. If that occurs you can bet your arse they have a vet C on the PS and I doubt their name is Good-Jones

Bleachers, unless the ticket states "VIP" on it. The bleachers in the end-zone are really nice and in the shade. Did you get parking? That's a bigger deal than VIP seating.
Thanks! Went yesterday, and liked the bleachers, just figured I’d ask anyway.

Also i dont drive (haven’t felt the need to, living in DC i just take metro everywhere) so i dont have parking. I’ll be taking metro to ashburn then a Lyft to the practice facility.
