Nice cool day for me, with 88 degrees and a heat index of 99. :ROFLMAO: It's been hitting the high 90's out in my garage pretty often while working out there.

I feel ya... Gets pretty toasty here too, can't wait for winter. Never been to Charlotte, and have been dying to go.

Sundown in Medellin tonight...

I believe wearing sandals long periods also highly increases the risk of Plantar Fasciitis
And when that happens, it can get bad enough to keep someone from walking, altogether
I have been wearing flips basically every day from June 1st through September for 40 years. I have learned all the nuances such as the right one always goes out first due to the stress of entering a car with the right foot first, I know which brands hold up to that test and which do not. I think I'm good.

I soaked the foot in Epsom salt and replaced the bandage. The nail is holding in place, my summer has been saved!

Glad that you've managed. I was speaking from my own experience, but of course we're all designed uniquely !

Whoever suggest the salt bath I want to thank you. Toe feels much better today and I have found the skin around the nail is healing and keeping the nail in place. It still hurts like Hell when the dog steps on it or if it grazes something but we're getting there. Just have to keep it trimmed so it doesn't catch on something again.

I love Medellín ❤️

There you have it.
This solidifies the answer to the earlier BGO members question and concern about how safe it was for him in Medellin !

Are ya turning some of them into AirBnB's, RedWolf ?

I was doing some type of CrossFit workout stupid thing in 2013 and one of the exercises was hitting a truck tire with a sledgehammer.

On my last rep I was getting tired and I didn’t hit the tire square, the hammer glanced off and hit my right big toe squarely.

It’s never been the same since.

I quit that type of workout entirely. I’m not even sure how good a workout it was.

Hmm...interesting story...made me curious, you wouldn't happen to be formerly known as the old ES poster, with the handle "Toe Jam", would you ?

That sounds like it would be very destructive because of the recoil from hitting a tire over and over but I'm not an expert.

I'll 2nd this "negative" for anyone considering and asking whether that routine is a good idea.
Just my 2 Cent experience.
Besides jamming your toe, too many other severe things can easily go wrong from this activity, whether it's your shoulder, neck or back etc.

For one thing, when working with heavy weights, it should be a smooth, controlled, precision motion, and with proper controlled posture
Since I was eleven years old, I have always favored "free weights" however to duplicate this particular motion, I would definitely go with a machine.

Sounds like a ‘gym bro’ social media construct. I have never seen this in real life in my 50+ years of training. It strikes as a candidate for the FAFO hall of fame.

When I took a new job at a company in 2013, all the execs went to this gym across the street twice a week and did these fitness classes. So I said, "sure why not." And I went and we had instructor led classes with all kinds of different exercises.

Some were traditional, others were not. I really didn't like it, but I thought the gym folks were professionals, and went along with it.

After I busted my toe, I just quit. Then I quit the company because it really wasn't what I was looking for. The two things were not related. But maybe should have been?

Hindsight being 50/50 (thank you Spurrier), I should never have signed up for these stupid classes to begin with. But live and learn.

FAFO?

Fuck around, find out.
Ha. I hadn't heard that one.

Looking back on it, I can't believe that professional trainers had us doing that shit.
