So, we just come up short every time we try and make a move?

I don't buy that. To me we are just sitting there eating popcorn.

This year it worked in Round 1 and 3 as IMO we got two guys that are going to contribute right away.

But in the back end of the draft you can get some steals but you have to be open to the idea of moving around.

Again, you have some teams with a lot of picks on Day 3 and it's often possible to put together a trade with one of them and move up a round or within a round.

I mean I can't help it if you are just going to make assumptions and hold to them without evidence. irrationality is not a position I can argue against.

Well, we are never going to know the inner working of the draft room unless someone writes a book.

All we can do is judge by the results.

If a team is flexible and adaptable to the ebb and flow of a draft it shows in its moves or lack thereof.

You judge by what they do, not by what they say.

I wouldn’t mind him. But not to be drafted. UDFA - why not? I keep adding him for the bit, though.

you aren't just judging by results though. you are getting your jimmies rustled by fairy tales you've made up in your mind about what you think they are doing during the draft and off-season.

No fantasy tales. Judging by the results.

If you are simply looking at Washington and not looking at what other successful teams do in moving around and making the board work for them then I guess there isn't much I can tell you because you have your mind made up that this is all alchemy and there is no way to understand the process other than to become Merlin the Magician.

It's not a zen mystical process.

Good teams come up with comp picks by strategizing who they keep and who they let go in free agency - teams like the Ravens and Eagles are usually miles ahead because of the extra picks and then they use them in trades to add even more value.
 
Going out on a limb here, IF RB Emmett Johnson is there with our upcoming pick, I'm thinking AP selects him. I'd rather nab OC Sam Hecht from Kansas State but got a feeling.

I dont think we are going to draft a RB this year. Just based on signing two in FA. maybe we add an UDFA?

i've already stated they wasted some draft capital on some bad trades. one of them was for Tunsil and we lost significant capital from that for 2 years in a row...but I'd say it was worth it. so there is very little capital to work with and if someone is not willing to give us a good trade offer for what we do have then what can you do?

the other good organizations have had stable front offices for years with rosters that are not full of holes like ours so they have actual talent in the cupboard they can trade to get additional capital or let go in free agency to play the compensatory math game. our cupboards are bare. I can agree that AP should've attacked FA last year like he did this year with youth movement. he delayed our progress by a year by overestimating the results of the 2024 season.
