The 2026 Draft Thread - 1st Round - 7th overall

Mass predictions breaking out that McVay will retire for a media gig (or at least quit the Rams job) when Stafford retires. It’s been in the air around McVay for years that he’d retire young, but the Ty Simpson presser…Snead is happy but McVay looks like someone shit on his plate and can barely muster anything positive to say at all. That is not a guy who was on board with drafting that heir apparent at QB.

Mcvay wore his Sunday best t shirt for the event....looking sharp coach!

And I don't want anymore 3rd round receivers. We are just going to end up with another Lane or McCaffrey. I'd rather go for another position

Keim who did nail the Styles pick, when asked 106.7 yesterday who are they ending up with, he goes Styles. I did too in the board's predictions. Seemed to think if they don't go WR in the first its almost a certainty in the third.

He's name dropped Hurst (I was able to find some games, and I dig him), Stribling (I dig a lot and he made my guys list), Lance (wouidn't hate it, boom-bust prospect). Of those 3 only Lance I think will be there at 71.

They also met with Malachi Fields, who I think is a rare high floor WR, but IMO also low ceiling -- taller Noah Brown.

Among the guys they met that I like who could fall there: Keionte Scott, Romello Height, Dayle Everette.

They also met with Emmett Johnson -- could be in the his range, I like but don't love him. Nut I'd get it he was one of the more prolific guys including as a pass catcher.

Just saying, this is how long baseball games always were. Until the 90's, 00's started telling experimenting with pitcher breaks, and then 10's went full out 90 seconds between pitches (the longer you wait, you can throw a teensiest bit faster). There were some decades way back when that pitched even faster than we are now. Some teams viewed it as an asset to give the batter less time to get comfortable for an incoming pitch.
None worse than Pedro Baez who would take whole commercial breaks between pitches. I was against the pitch clock, but it works and you hardly notice it now

I love the pace of the draft this year--less bloviating in between picks.

Scott and Height would have really good impact but they just can't ignore WR.

My list is Stribling, Fields, Hurst.......Lance. ( I think Fields helps right away and Hurst may take a little time)

Of course we will be praying for one of the others expected to go ahead of us to drop. There are quite a few

While I am critical about Quinn and Peters on some fronts, I do think they bounce back this year.

And I think Josh Harris is a stud owner -- gone from dead last to close to tops in the league is almost every metric from the players survey. Got the stadium in DC -- building probably the best in the country. And at least tying to hire the best available at everything. 10 out of 10.

Peters and Quinn I am agnostic on. I can go either way. But I am giving them another year to judge.

But I will say this about all three, they are all by all reports, super good people who work their ass off.

I understand why Rivera wouldn't go 100 miles an hour considering his health. Regardless, that was his rep from what I can gather from those who covered the team -- not the hardest worker. And seemed more concerned with PR than success.

Peters from what I've heard is a Gibbs like 5 AM to work guy, and competitive as heck. And Quinn almost to that same extent or so the vibe I get. But also super nice people who live the whole brotherhood theme as corny as it sounds when they talk about it.

Is that enough to win? I don't know. But I do buy it when players say its different in that building compared to other teams.

If its me personally at that spot

Tier 1 -- in that order
Germie Bernard
Antonio Williams
De-Zhaun Stribiling
Elijah Sarratt
Ted Hurst

Tier 2 -- in that order
Deion Burks
Chris Brazzell
Skyler Bell
Malachi Fields
Bryce Lance

All these guys aren't landing at 71, but as I work this exercise it convinces me more they go WR. These guys are all sort of different flavors and arguably close in ability.

Still beyond stoked we got Styles

And lol at Kiper’s mock draft , thing it’s time to hang em up old man.

Now move the Superbowl to Saturday night. If it is Americas Party, make it so everyone doesn't have to leave at halftime.
honestly the best thing they could do so they won’t.

Is Chris Bell off your board due to the injury?
I mean he probably should be but damn do I like him.
I have Hurst slightly lower and Fields higher. Most of the others in the bottom tier are kind of graded the same...and not exciting

Supposedly they eventually want to have the Super Bowl on Presidents Day weekend, so most can stay up and see the game because they won't have to go to work on that Monday due to the holiday.

I don’t have these guys in the same order. I’m not in on Williams, really. He’s just okay.

Guys who could immediately help (not in order)

Germie, Sarratt, Stribling, Burks, Fields

Guys who might be able to catch on quick but not sure:

Hurst, Chris Bell (injury pending), Lance

Guys I’m not in on:

Williams, Skyler, Brazzell (I’ve read he has some major character red flags)

There are some really good defensive guys that could still be on the board, that's going to suck if they skip them for a Skyler or Lance due to need

If we draft a WR in the 3rd, I feel like it’s roster chaos and likely adding another player that we have to develop.

I also don’t like the idea, because I think it means we wouldn’t sign anyone else other than Aiyuk.

We would have, Terry, Aiyuk, Let’s say, Sarratt or Hurst, Luke, Lane, Burks, Dyami, that not a lot of experience or predictable success. Is that not still one of the worst WR rooms in the league unless we got super lucky and Aiyuk is actually really good?

I actually do think Chris Bell could be a good draft and stash. Has obvious starting talent. Is supposed to be ahead of schedule in his rehab. You could take him, put him on IR, still sign another experienced starting caliber WR.

The only way I take a WR in the 3rd, is if we love the guy and think he can help now, or if we still plan to add another higher end FA, and are fine cutting a bunch of our guys, Burks, Luke, etc. That doesn’t seem like the way this team does business. And I do think Luke was coming on before his clavicle fracture.

A few of those WR's could step in in certain situations right away. They are all different but could certainly take some pressure off Terry while developing. Some more on intermediate routes, some deep some in red zone and contested catches.

I am probably not the best to ask thee question about Chris Bell but love the idea. I want a guy that can immediately impact the game at 71 and who knows if he can with the injury. But I may be his top fan here so its a tainted take on him.

Honestly, there are possibly going to be a couple really good defenders, especially DB's available.

I don’t think some of those guys are a big concern there and I think some are more NFL ready.

I’m also not opposed to developing a guy.

We need receiver help. At this point a dart throw is just as good as anything else.

But if there is a clearly better prospect then I get it.

AP needs to do something at receiver. Quickly.

That would still leave 75% of Americans having a workday on Monday, and that's not even counting the mattress salepeople!
