AP won’t do it, but I wonder how high we could get with 71 + 2027 3rd + whatever 5th, if a guy like Boston kept falling. Pick 50? Higher?

I'm not saying we wouldn't have picked him.

I'm not saying he's the right or wrong pick.

I'm saying we don't know what they would have done at 5 if he and Delane and Reese were all on the board. And I would prefer to have let them have that choice rather than have it made for them, all things being equal, because the win against the Eagles with a 39 year old QB was absolutely pointless.

I think Thibs gets moved and Reese gets some reps as an off ball LB too. Their off ball LB3 McFadden was a solid starter for them past couple seasons (got hurt in opener against us)

Just saying, this is how long baseball games always were. Until the 90's, 00's started telling experimenting with pitcher breaks, and then 10's went full out 90 seconds between pitches (the longer you wait, you can throw a teensiest bit faster). There were some decades way back when that pitched even faster than we are now. Some teams viewed it as an asset to give the batter less time to get comfortable for an incoming pitch.

It fits so well. Almost fully, except Urlacher had more thump. But both were extremely large college safeties that transitioned to LB. The Bears liked doing a Tampa 2 style defense, where the MLB would need way more range than normal. At times it was like a 3rd safety in a Cover 3, but a bit shallower.

They’re insisting (through the national insiders) that they won’t be trading Thibodeaux, but we’ll see
 
Harbaugh said that Reese will move to inside LB in the 3-4 and Mauioga will move to guard.

I actually think that we will be aligned more in a 4-3 hybrid than the 3-4 that many expected. Styles in the middle, Luvu and Chenal out outside LB. Oweh and Armstrong on the edge with Chaisson backing them up. Omenihu playing a lot at tackle, especially on passing downs and yes I know it's a 7 man moving front
 
Not sure if it means anything but I googled grades for all of the first round and went through them and the consensus is that we hit a home run, mostly A pluses, the lowest I saw was a b plus.
 
Was listening to Thomas Davis (the retired linebacker from Carolina) talk and he implied Styles could have been asked to do more in coverage than what he was at Ohio State. His potential in coverage is higher than most realize.

This defense could be really fun to watch.
 
Mass predictions breaking out that McVay will retire for a media gig (or at least quit the Rams job) when Stafford retires. It’s been in the air around McVay for years that he’d retire young, but the Ty Simpson presser…Snead is happy but McVay looks like someone shit on his plate and can barely muster anything positive to say at all. That is not a guy who was on board with drafting that heir apparent at QB.
