Wtf is going on with Tiger Woods?

Can't he just hire a caddy to drive his car?

I mean, dude, you may be the best at driving a ball, but you can't drive a car straight down a straight road.

So true.
This is what my manual says (for the device, not the car)
But the wording is way over my head. I'm still not exactly sure what all the ramifications are, from erasing the code via the handheld de-coder.
Can any technical minds dumb this down, for me ? :

CAUTION : Erasing the Diagnostic Trouble Codes may allow the code reader to delete not only the codes from the vehicle's on-board computer, but also "Freeze Frame" data and manufacturer enhanced data. Further, the I/M Readiness Monitor Status for all vehicle monitors is reset to Not Ready Not Complete status
"Freeze frame" data is just that. It will give you all the readings on the vehicle sensor, values and voltages for a second as a snap shot. Generally used at cold start up to get base readings, and at full operating temp to do a compression... deeper diagnostics that most don't have a clue what to do with. Best I can tell the enhanced manufacturer date is generally the same as the freeze frame, but live monitoring to watch how the values change, say at idle, or a specific RPM. Hard to figure the not ready, not complete status, but putting it all together in my mind, it's saying when you clear the codes, it will kill the freeze frame and live monitoring for a split second. Not a lot of options beyond living with the light, or chasing it down and fixing it. If your search pointed at a gas cap leak, I'd be looking at the rubber hoses related to the filler area. Seen it before on mid 90's vehicles. Year and model ?

Thanks for making it much more reader-friendly.
It's a 2002 Saturn SL-2.
I did check the gas cap, and tightened it more, but the engine light persists.
I suppose a hose would be easy to replace myself...if I knew which hose it was, and where

Saw a few videos on how to track it down. Let me do a little snooping, I'll get back to you.

Only thing I can come up with is an ultrasonic leak tester or a "smoke" test. I haven't looked at any of the videos. I've used a big ol stogie to smoke test in the past for both vacuum leaks, and pressure leaks, which is what you seem to have. Fuel system isn't holding pressure. Is it the original gas cap ? Rust on the sealing surface, or a dried out rubber seal on the cap can do it. Unfortunately, really not much more I can do to help.

At this point he may not have a choice. I know I like to drive and wouldn't want to have a driver hanging around so I can see why he didn't do this. But he's clearly a danger and needs to be stopped.

Could be awkward in Denny’s parking lots.

I have ventured to this forum for the first time… basically ever…

And I see a lot of names here that aren’t in the football forum. Join us!

Also, I’m not coming back here. It’s the Wild West! 😆

I generally only use the "What's New" tab so I really have no idea what forum I'm in.

Yes, it's the original gas cap.
I found this video which also mentions the rubber seal, as you did.
Then he also mentions the check valve inside the gas cap, and tests it by blowing and sucking on it.
Not sure I want to put my lips on the inside of a gas cap. Especially not knowing what happened to this guy, after he did this.

I had an EVAP issue with my Ford F-350 (pictured in my signature). The gas cap light showing up on the dash was the first indicator and then the engine light came on. Since the truck is older the dealer could not get any replacement parts for me. Eventually, the engine light went off but the gas cap light stayed on. I ended up selling the truck to someone out in Winchester who had a farm and he didn't care about the EVAP issue. I'm not sure why the engine light went off after a few days, but it did help with the sale by not being on anymore.

Dave, I'm really not up on the latest tech to say, but many manufacturers use "soft" and "hard" codes. Soft codes will kick the engine light on, but the problem man not persist. The ECM will count (generally) heat cycles, and at a preset number of cycles without the issue, it will remove the soft code, and turn off the light. Hard codes are set and have to cleared manually.

Mick, I've seen caps cause all sorts of problems. We know the cap is venting or you would have other issues. I've seen a non venting cap cause a fuel tank to collapse till it crushed the fuel pump. Just do the cap test like the video. You're not going to get gas in your mouth, if anything a little vapor. I've likely swallowed a quart of gasoline over the 50 some odd years wrenching. Not gonna kill ya..

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: This place is tame compared to what we dealt with on ES.... a major reason behind no political or religious discussions.

Thank you Pete, for sacrificing yourself as the "laboratory experiment" for me and all of us, with consuming gasoline over the years. :)
You rock !

And Miles Monroe and I have been around these parts long enough to remember the pre-ES days on the Sporting News board,
which had no Sub-forum, so if you wanted to post something Non-football, ya had to start off your Subject Line,
with "OT :" for Off Topic ;)
Like, "OT : I just found and adopted a wild, fledgling Kookaburra. What do I feed it ?"

I'm actually hoping for a two day delay , I'll get a better view the later it goes up :ROFLMAO: Mixed clouds to my NE, so it's a 50/50 chance I even see it being a "day time" launch.

I might take out a telescope to see if I can find it. I might have to wait until April 10 when it returns to earth since they are calling for clouds this week.

Once my wife retires, we might start traveling to these types of events. That would be so cool to watch the launch in person.
