The 2026 Draft Thread - 1st Round - 7th overall

Skillset wise I think Lemon is a clear cut #2, and only because he isn’t outside versatile (where I think Tate can be inside versatile).

But that combine interview and rumors he had odd interviews with teams… if that is true he is a pass for me. If it’s not? I’d be fine with him as long as Love isn’t there.

Ok, pipe dream here, but trade back to pickup a 2nd, ship the second to Jax for BTJ, draft Lemon. We instantly remake our WR corps into a young group

Lemon's interview after his Pro Day on 3/12 sounds like a totally different person/player than the one at the Combine.

Agree. I think Love is gone. At which point we have to go receiver.

Even if we have a healthy and motivated Aiyuk?

I think Downs makes the defense nearly complete but a rookie recover wouldn’t quite have the same impact. I’m beginning to heavily lean Downs over everyone personally.

I agree as well.

I'm hoping Downs also goes, so we have basically the choice of whichever WR we want.

I wouldn't trust Aiyuk to make it from the parking lot into the building without either a leg falling off or having a mental episode. Anything he gives us is gravy. Talk to me after a year of production, mental stability and health, then I'll trust him.

Until then, even if they sign him, he's basically the "bonus" guy.

And Peters showed that's how he's thinking by throwing more money at Pierce than he got from Indy and at least the same amount of money at Doubs. Peters isn't counting on Aiyuk either.

I’m not sure how I feel about the knee.
I want somebody else to take the gamble that he's Ed Reed vs. have his knee blow up.

The Giants can take that risk. I don't want to.

With all due respect, I don't. He's the player I want most. Yes, we have Cross on a 2 year deal but we need another S. We need a WR desperately but if Downs is there, he's the guy I'd like best. IF both Downs and Love are gone, then I still think we might have a choice for both Tate or Lemon or one of them anyway.

Yeah I think Downs elevates the overall team higher than anyone, including Love. The difference in the defense with Downs vs without Downs feels like the largest talent gap to me.

I’m not betting anything on Aiyuk, no matter how healthy or happy and normal he is. Not going into this season, there’s just no way to be that confident in anything about him. He’s a bonus.

I like Downs, but I think Tate (hypothetically) makes us closer to a complete team, because Daniels IS this team. Downs might get us closer to “finishing” one side of the ball, but you’re never really done with either side until you’re a lot better than we are. So I err on the side of the playmaker for our franchise QB. Downs is going to be a great player if his health checks out, but he doesn’t make plays on the ball so much as he is a very safe, intelligent guy. We need game changers.

Edit: And I take Love over both, if available

Finally back in this thread after the Free Agency rush.

I've only got 2 WR with first round grades. Love is a talent leap over the Top WRs.

If we're going by Need and BPA it's hard as we could really use upgrades at 2 WR spots vs 1 RB spot.

I'm still going Love.

If he's not there then I think I'd be interested in a trade back if the right opportunity is there. I'm not interested in drafting Fano or whoever to be the LG at #7 compared to getting a lot more picks to add more talent.

I get going Edge again, but I doubt there's a good fit there. If Styles is there it's tempting. Trading back if Love is gone is going to be a real conversation (requiring a good offer).

Free Agency thankfully filled in enough positions and solved some questions about who we want and if we want to fill it now. So I'm for Love, then some mix of Styles, WR, or Trade Back if Love is gone.

AP going to do what AP is going to do. Right now, I think we all know that WR and RB are the most pressing needs. We all have our favorite player(s) we want picked.
